A Florida Fish and Wildlife officer was patrolling Lake Deloes from a boat ramp when he observed the vessel operating at a high rate of speed, recklessly, driving close to other vessels, as well as children floating on inner tubes. The driver would later be identified as this guy, who will eventually claim to be an off-duty police officer. Later on, the officer would observe the vessel dock at a house and attempt to locate the operator, which wasn't that hard, seeing that a Lake County Sheriff's Deputy was already there in regards to a noise complaint and had already contacted the homeowner, who we will later discover was out of town and the subject's father. What's up? You just parked your boat? What do you mean? For how long? I don't know. Okay, well, I've been at the boat ramp watching you, so you want to start over with me, or you want to keep that story? The boat's parked. What's up, man? Right, I know the boat is parked now, but it just recently got parked with the... No, no, we'll hang out right here. It just got parked a few minutes ago. You're good. No, no, I'm letting you know that I'm good right here. You're just good. So, the reason I'm here is to talk to you about you operating the vessel, okay? You were operating in a careless manner. So, as you already explained to him that the neighbors complained about his careless operation on the vessel, or have you talked to him about anything at all? Go ahead and do me a favor, sir. So, again, based on what I observed earlier and based on the indicators that you're observing now, and I can smell some sort of odor of alcoholic beverage coming off of your person and off of your breath as you, as you speak. Okay. As I speak. So in the state of Florida, it's a violation to be intoxicated past your normal faculties, okay, by operating a vessel. And I observed you operate the vessel for approximately, I don't know what the name is, but I'll make sure I get it before I leave. I already ran the Florida registration numbers. No, you cannot hop up at this time. No, you cannot. Now you are being detained for an investigation. You can do me a favor and set that down on the tailgate. Okay. You can, I'm going to set it down or you can set it down. Do you understand? So I'm going to conduct an investigation. Do you mind if I conduct an investigation on you? I do. Okay. You do mind. I think it was clear sparing off You don't have to say you did I mean I watched it so I mean I don't know what it exactly was But it looked like empty glass and bottle of clearance man up again You can have alcohol on the boat and you two aren't in trouble but just based on what I observed and then the indicators here and I tried really hard to work with him and give him an Opportunity to just relax and talk to me and he just he refused Okay, so he's gonna be going to jail for operating the vessel while his normal faculties are impaired And he's got a few other charges against him now Can I get y'all's IDs, please? Are you guys whoever's driving? Are you guys gonna be sober enough to drive? And I'm just going to my mom's but a lot the last thing that I want to happen from this point on is this is Kind of the deputy's side now. Well, it was and then again now to him. I know it was really close Okay, not that it matters as far as the investigation is for my curiosity when he came around when he went around the big big It came this way to kind of backtrack. Did he flick you off? It looked like he flicked you all off Okay, that's fine Yeah, and I saw I saw the kids out on the tubes and stuff like that Um, but you guys all watched him drive the way he was driving. Do you guys let me make sure I ask that question Did you all watch him drive that vessel? What vessel and you point without me pointing to it? Okay, did he have any shirt clothes on Okay, all right Right, well, he's been arrested for operating a vessel wall, you know under the influence I don't think he's gonna blow at the jail, which that means provide a breast a breath sample to me He wouldn't even cooperate with the investigation. So he's got other charges now We got the sheriff's office actually got a complaint because I was at the boat ramp and I was checking people there and I was hoping that he was Coming there, but obviously all the tags I looked at I knew okay. He probably lives on the water So as I was literally just going up the road to park and I saw the deputy pulling out I was like shoot So I went down this. Hey, would you get complaint for me told me and so I said, okay Well, I watched him, you know, right and so he already got permission to come on the property, right? Because of the from the father so no to answer your question long-winded. I'm sorry. They're all leaving. There's three people here They're all even right now me and the deputy can't leave until they're gone So they won't be back here and then the son is gonna be arrested. He might have first parents tomorrow I don't know, but I think the earliest you can get bonded out is probably Tuesday We talked to the father the deputy talked to the dad Yeah, and he and I let him know hey, you know If you want to advise him his son's gonna I'm gonna investigate for the signal one and he said yeah, please do so That's it Well, you know, there's really if this was a different lake, I mean even on this lake, but he's really lucky He didn't kill himself or somebody else Yeah, well and I seen them all here and then I seen him down there.
