it's a little strange what you guys are doing you guys are here you got a rifle with a scope on it you got a bunch of zip ties here I watch you over here at these bushes all right when I pulled up all right now there's a take a huh now there's a bag over here with a rattlesnake in it on September 25th 2023 while approaching the oak head shelter in bravard County Florida FWC officer naino observed two individuals later identified as John RL and James Amis he observed John raffle walking with haste from the wood line approximately 30 yard from the shelter where James AMS was sitting upon reaching the men the officer observed an assault rifle and many zip ties all laid out on the table we will soon discover that the rifle was loaded with One in the Chamber and hidden in the brush about 30 ft away is an Eastern Diamondback rattlesnake in a pet carrier here huh you drive out here oh yeah yeah where's you guys up to chilling yeah guys doing some hunting no no just got a rifle yeah mind if I'm just gonna move that for a all right I'm just G to come set on this one right here so you guys didn't do no hunting no we just pulled up literally just pulled up gotcha gotcha gotcha gotcha um so then what what's with the rifle on the table then what's with the zip ties and all that this is just for the boat rifles just just to have in the boat while I'm riding what were you doing up in there taking a leak okay you guys got anything in the boat no you want to walk over there with me yeah all right cool what's your guys's name James James last name my ID H sure all right you got your hunt license on you I don't hunt you don't hunt whose rifle is it yours okay you guys got any other uh firearms on you like pistols or nothing nothing I anything on me at all okay nothing on you just just turn for me you're good you're good I just want to make sure you guys don't have unlike your traditional police officer FWC officers have the authority without warrant to board inspect and search any boat or vehicle engaged in transporting or storing fish or fishery products although this boat has no visible fishing rods coolers are often associated with fishing and likely gave the officer probable cause to inspect the vessel there's also a strong chance that the assault rifle and the zip ties were enough probable cause as well all right so be honest with me now you guys coming in out here to do some hunting no no absolutely not all right so you you guys are sitting out here de hunting just any hunting you guys going after some Hogs or something for a ride man okay well it's just weird to me that you guys are out here in the WMA and you guys have a a rifle on you I didn't know that was illegal honest with you I'm not trying to no no no I'm just saying you guys are just sitting in in the WMA right now with a rifle so it's it's hunting season so I'm just I just it's not gun season is it no that's that's why I'm asking like what you guys are up to it's just weird it's weird that you guys have a like I said you guys have a rifle I always bring a gun with me when I come out here and it ain't for the deer it's like you don't know who's out here what their problem is or a lot of drunks or ain't nothing to jump in and just go back to the boat or truck just give me one second okay how long you guys say you got you were out here dude we pulled up walked over there uhhuh and you drove up oh really where'd you guys launch from up there at the bar Point set oh off point set gotcha gotcha gotcha you guys come here a lot or I haven't been down here in a while man I used something no no no the zip ties are just for the boat I got some tools and right but why have them over here that's what I'm asking like why on the bench why all the zip ties I just had him floating just hang out for me for one second the officer walks to the location where he saw Jon standing when he arrived and he discovers a black pet carrier inside is a highly venomous rattlesnake specifically an Eastern diamond backed rattlesnake and since this snake is native to Florida it's a huge no no to have the snake captive without the proper permits and given the fwc's latest sting called operation Viper they are actively looking for people smuggling venomous reptiles in and out of Florida that you guys are out here collecting snakes collecting snakes that's why you came over the bushes come here let's not play these games dude I watch you over here at these bushes all right when I pulled up all right now there's a take huh now there's a bag over here with a rattlesnake in it not you guys come here you got this isn't you guys that wasn't y'all looks like a diamond bat not y'all for those of you that don't know and I don't blame you for not knowing I'm connected to the reptile industry in Florida and I've made several viral videos regarding the invasive species in Florida so when I heard John say I don't [ __ ] with snakes it was a big red flag because he is absolutely covered in reptile tattoos one of them being a highly venomous coral snake native to Florida and after quite literally spending 5 minutes creeping on his social media it's fairly obvious he's a Venom bro and clearly does does with snakes in fact this is the same species of rattlesnake that was found in the pet carrier I also found a bunch of anti FWC posts which I'm sure they wouldn't appreciate if they saw I mean I don't disagree with them but yeah oh you were over here at these bushes weren't you yeah I wish I knew yeah H okay stand by just just hang out you don't have to go close to the snake yeah yeah yeah you can go back [Music] over is there anyone else with you guys just y'all you didn't see nobody else out here just pulled up h no I'm just kind of I'm just going to look at it I'm not really G to mess with it too much oh it looks like it might be dead oh know he's still alive yeah he ain't too happy no yeah sure come on oh I ain't I a't want to bend down and touch that dang thing as much as y'all don't want to you scared of snakes oh yeah he's alive oh yeah he's still kicking what you want to do I don't know I gotta call uh I gotta call my captive guy and see um if he thinks we should just let him go in here or if we should um or uh we got to take them yeah I know but they get a little weird sometimes about releasing um like reptiles and stuff into different spots you didn't see that thing when you went over there no you have Captain the wildlife permits or anything you deal with snakes no reptiles I got I've had snakes in the past but I don't have anything right now mhm nothing like that though I got you well Co yeah if you want I'll just I'm gonna call my guy real quick and then I'll get back with y'all in a second hey Damon hey so I'm out here at the Upper St John's right and I got these I had these two dudes out here they kind of acting weird and I saw one of the dudes go over by the bushes over here and I started looking around the bushes and he's got or there's like a dog carrier there a big old freaking diamond back in that thing but he's I didn't see over turn off the officer makes a return to the boat most likely looking for tools related to capturing snakes like hooks or snake bags because the first time he checked the boat he had no idea what was actually in the woods at the time and the last thing I want to interject is about the zip ties zip ties are often used when tying up bags containing snakes especially venom snakes although there were no bags found during the investigation I do wonder if bags could have been stashed somewhere out in the woods and there's also a chance there could have been another person on scene that took off when the officer arrived again this is just me speculating as most of you guys are going to do in the comment section anyways the officer separates the two men likely to see if their stories match up but unfortunately the officer left his camera muted and I'm starting to think that this wasn't intentional it's not fair what do you mean it's not fair I'm not the one that had had a diamond back out here man you know what I mean it it is what it is own up to it take your lick and we move on it's not it's not that big of a deal truthfully it really isn't and I'm like you said you're afraid I'm going to take you to jail man I don't have to take you to jail I'm afraid of being being charged with something that I didn't do mhm that's that's what I'm concerned about okay so then if you don't you take my gun no I just it's for for my safety that I'm taking it away from you guys right now no I'm not yeah yeah yeah I'm not seizing your gun or not that's why that's what I'm trying to tell you dude I'm not trying to I'm really not trying to hard time you guys I'm just trying to get the truth from you listen I'm telling you what kind do you really like what do you really think is going on possession of a venomous reptile without a permit that's what it is okay so it's it's transporting I didn't say what you were charging what do you really like what do you really think is going on here you're either off the Record no no no you're either catching or all right there dude he's hang on one second the officer once again mutes his body cam for nearly 30 minutes while he speaks to another officer and completes his paperwork and this is when the other man actually approached the officer asking when everything was going to be completed and you really can't blame him boot off what's that yeah yeah I'm trying to get that rolling for you but so listen dud this this is why this is why I'm trying to have one class conversation with you come here all right I know I know you've been in some trouble before right yeah I just got off probation yeah exactly you don't uh do you want to really get do you want to get in trouble for something you had nothing to do with dude I have nothing to do with this like I said I know that's what I'm saying and then I know you don't I know you don't want to rat on your buddy can I ask you something absolutely I'm getting a court date am I being let go right now going to jail no no no you're not going to jail I just okay all right that's all I want to do man I'm not trying to be a dick I'm already here long enough and I got a newborn at home I get it man come out from one little boat ride I'm [ __ ] so okay well like I said man I I'm not trying to be an [ __ ] no I'll totally get it and that's why I'm trying to talk to you man because like I I like I said I feel like you're getting caught up into some stuff that you don't necessarily walk from that boat right there CLE right that's what you seen me do he walked right past to a piss listen and then he turned around and come right back to me okay all right you said You' seen that you've seen us get off the boat you walk felt the motor hot as [ __ ] when you walked up I'm not arue I get but so you being in that boat with him with that rattlesnake that's the same thing snake was not in that you're in possession of it all right no problem no problem man I we'll just we like I said we'll go with it forward and we'll we'll deal with it okay thank you man yeah right hey so I mean as far as it goes though you guys are free to go now um yep and uh what I'm going to do is I'm just going to put the uh I'm going put one of the magazine in that uh one of your guys's hatches or whatever and just put the rifle and then um I'll put the rifle down in there okay and then just do me a favor don't don't touch it while you guys are leaving okay you want us to wait for you guys to leave or no what do you want us to do no you're good you're free to go do whatever you want I mean you can hang out me as far as the gun and stuff oh so you said well like I said um you don't want us to run down there while you guys are here and the guns in the boat you want us to wait for you to leave is what I'm saying uh yeah just just get just get in and run man and just just just get in and run take my word for it yeah yeah just get in and run all right I was about to say I don't think you really want to want to shoot at cops do you I didn't get I didn't get that from you I didn't get that from you guys you 65 serial number for Signal zero and in a last Stitch effort to nail these two Florida boys with another charge officer neino runs the serial numbers on the assault rifle but it came back clean now I did my due diligence and looked up this court case to see if the charge is stuck and apparently they didn't as this court case was
