A simple traffic stop ends with this couple getting locked up after officers discover hundreds of dollars in stolen merchandise. On September 11th, officers in Rosemont flag down the vehicle after receiving a shoplifting complaint from a Ross department store. Upon confrontation, both suspects realize they've been caught and immediately admit to stealing the goods. >> Repeat. >> How's it going today? Turn is your car off? >> Let me get both your license. You guys are both possibly IDed for retail fact. I'm just going to be straight up, man. Give me Give me the items back. >> Give me your ID first. I want your ID, too. Is there anything else in the car? Any weapons, drugs, anything like that about that? >> Do you have a valid driver's license? >> I posted to my oppos situated. >> Okay. So, is it suspended, revoked? And then I'm going to need like a receipt for everything. So you were you said you were scared. You didn't like it fast. I was in my house and I was like, "Oh my god, I don't want to think anything bad. Like I don't want to like call the cops." So I saw like I was looking at the cameras >> and I saw he brought like took out a magnet and I'm like okay. I'm like hopefully he doesn't open it. And then after I saw where he was opening everything I'm like yeah. >> Okay. So these all have magnets. >> No not all of them. >> Okay. Maybe show me what does. And once I go up there, I see them walk in. They already look suspicious cuz they stared at us. >> And then they give us like a look like to see if no one was no one was watching. And I was like, "Okay, like I don't want to think anything bad. I'm going to stay here and like see if they don't they're not going to do anything." >> Okay. >> And then that's when I see the guy going by the perfume where he grabbed this one by ladies and then he goes and walks by ladies shoes, I guess, to like just walk around to see like if no one was watching. And then that's when he goes by like um by the ladies department where all the apparel is and then he goes like by the men's and then that's when he goes back again by the ladies. I think that's where he grabbed all of this by beauty >> and that was it. And I went by back to the office. I checked to see if he was not doing anything bad. And then that's when he took out the magnet and took out the >> That's when you saw it on the >> Yeah. camera and that's when I called the cops. >> Um what how about the female? The female, she was just walking around like acting like she was shopping while he was like a distra like >> distraction. >> Yeah. Okay. Okay. All right. Cool. I told um um Avana, I was like, "Let me go put my bag away and then by the time I get back, I'll be I'll be ready to punch in." >> Okay. So, I originally was going to go through the Q- line to go to the back to put my bag away, but there was customers. So, I doubled back and I came back towards the fragrances. >> Okay. >> And as I was walking toward the fragrances, the young lady, like she made eye contact with me, but she looked really like suspicious. >> Okay. >> So, I was like, "Okay." Didn't think anything of it, but I don't know if she knew that I worked here cuz I had my work bag. So, as I'm going through the fra I'm going past the jewelry counter over by the men's fragrances. She's in between the the fragrances between the men's side and the women's side. Okay. >> And she hand her uh the guy uh a container. >> Okay. >> And he put it in the bag. >> Got it. >> I was like, "Oh, okay." So, didn't think anything of it, but I ran to the back and I was look at that time I was looking for uh Noelli or uh Amelio to let them know. I was like, "Hey, check the cameras." But at that by the time I got back there, she had already witnessed it. >> Got it. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> So, I was like, "Oh, okay." She's like, "Yeah, I'm going to call the cops." I was like, "Yeah, call the cops." Cuz >> they they don't care. So, that was it. >> Okay. Awesome. I really appreciate you. >> Yeah. Um when you say she was acting suspicious, what like what kind of behavior is like? >> So she was so she was walking around the the the cases the where the fragrances are. She just walking but she was you know kind of making you know shifting her eyes were shifting and [snorts] then when she um when we made eye contact she just looked like she looked guilty. >> Yeah. Okay. >> She looked guilty. So but >> she was like up to no good or >> Yeah. like you know she was just I guess trying >> not like your normal shopper. >> No, I think she was trying to decide if I worked there or not. >> She was trying to like size you like see but like I said I had my work my primary work bag on my shoulder.
