Only Cams provides body cam footage for transparency and educational purposes only. On April 12th, just after 10:30 p.m. in Gardener, Illinois, what began as a report of minor property damage quickly escalated into a dangerous encounter. Deputies were responding to [music] a hit and run involving a damaged stop sign near Braceville and Gorman Road when a white Ford Fusion was spotted traveling through [music] town. Behind the wheel was 20-year-old Emily. When Deputy Osborne attempted a traffic stop, Emily didn't slow down. Instead, she took off, accelerating to nearly 80 mph in a 30 mph zone. I WANT Can you come over here? >> Shut up and get in the car. >> PLEASE. >> NO. >> SORRY. >> NO. Get in the car. Get in the car. >> Stay. >> Please don't shut the door anywhere. I won't. Later, her family revealed a critical detail. >> I don't know. Okay. You were at the gas station. >> Yeah. >> We were I had taken him. I told him cuz she's psycho. >> Who is it? >> This is his ex-girlfriend now. See, his problem was is they got talking again and she's very possessive, very control. She's a suck. >> Is this your house? >> This is my house. I rent this house. We left. She left and she went to the stop sign. I didn't even realize she came. How did you get the call? >> She hit a stop sign on Braceville and Gorman. >> Okay. So, cuz then Yeah, she flew back here. My girlfriend is in the house. >> Yeah, I I went to your house. >> She's like, "Oh my god." And then she called me, got a situation. I'm like, "What the hell?" I We were I was having a discussion [music] with my son about her that she's trouble. I've seen women like this before. They're, you know, she's she's seeing two psychiatrists. She's on a house therapy or something like that. Like she's on like she doesn't have to be somewhere, but she definitely needs to be somewhere. He was on the phone with her mom telling her and that she's fighting with you and whatnot. And I I wanted to help, but at the same time, I don't want to be in between all that cuz I hearing you're struggling with her ass. And it's like, but it's >> Oh, I'm trying not to hurt her. >> I know >> is the problem. And I'm sitting here like I want to help but if I do then I can get it put on me too. So I was like what do I do? Cuz I'm sitting here like this all this is showing him who she really is. Makes him understand. That's why he stayed in. He didn't want to. So I appreciate I'm sorry for all this. >> Who's that plate come back to? >> So Oh my god. This poor kid. He's 19 years old. How old is she? What's that girl's name? >> Emily. You want to talk to my son, >> Emily? What? I don't know her last name. >> I wasn't even focused on anything. I didn't hear her say stop or anything. I didn't I saw I didn't like that until I was already like at the door and then he opened the door. I don't know why I did that. That's freaking That's wrong. It's It's illegal. I I don't I shouldn't have done that. I know all of this is wrong. >> You chat with my heart if you keep saying this will be like that. All right. So chat with them and just be honest. Let them know what's going on. >> I'm very scared. I've never been in this situation. The most I've been one of the kind where I sat in the front seat. So to understand I'm sorry >> is that her boyfriend blocked her. She got really upset. She took that turn, took out a stop sign. I don't know if you're aware of that. And then she came down here flying, slowed down, took off in the house. She said she didn't hear you or see the lights or none of that stuff. >> It's weird. I have a I have a little bit different recollection of it. And I didn't realize until after like I walked open the door and then realized that you were lying to me. I just I everything happened so fast. >> Hey, you're lying. And I don't appreciate liars. >> No, stop it. You want to know what happened? >> I'll tell you exactly what happened. You want to know the fun fact? There's four cameras on you. So in 4K, you got caught four times on four different camera angles, right? So, [clears throat] I'm behind you after you're going 70 75 mph down Gardener Road through town, blew the four-way because I was at Casey's and I watched you do this whole thing after I already got a call on you about hitting that stop sign, right? [clears throat] You didn't use your turn signal coming on here. These railroad tracks are down and I light you up and you make your little U-turn right here. You stop in the driver's seat. You sit there and you turn and you look right at me. And then you get out of the car. And then you stop and you turn and you look at me again directly [music] at the red and blue flashing lights. And then you took off running and I didn't run after you. First I said, "Stop. Hey, what are you doing? Stop." And then you start beating on these poor people's doors of a house that you don't even live at. And then I start running after you. I get closer to you and then now you force entry into the home and then you take off running into these poor people's houses. You scared the out of the homeowner. No, stop it. I'm not done talking. This is a conversation. You don't interrupt me. [clears throat] >> You scared the out of some pooring lady that's sitting inside that house. She had no idea what's going on. And I tried my hardest to be polite and nice with you and not hurt you. And I don't know how many times I told you that I was going to hurt you if you did not start complying. And instead, you want to fight and resist and do that the whole time. And I was forced to slam you onto the ground and then wrestle around with you. And then even when we're on the ground, I'm giving you the opportunities, not hurting you, just holding on to you. And then you're crying like a littleing toddler, trying to play every I can't breathe. You're hurting me. I want all this. I need an ambulance. All you had to do was stop. You want to know what would have happened if you would have just stopped right here and you told me that you're having a bad day and you and your boyfriend broke up and you're coming to try to make amends with him? I'd have been like, "Okay, cool. We got to do a little crash report." I ain't even going to give you a ticket. I have bad days. I fight with my misses and now you're under arrest and you're going to jail and I'm towing your car. >> Can you call my parents? >> You can call them at the jail to come pick you up from the jail. Oh my god. What? >> Call them right now. >> ME? >> OH MY GOD. I I I RESISTED BECAUSE I WAS SCARED. I I WAS HAVING A PANIC ATTACK. I genuinely couldn't breathe. I was like, >> you you breathe just fine. >> I >> because that scuffle went on for a couple of minutes and you're breathing just fine. And hence why you're just breathing fine right now. There's nothing restricting your air flow. That was just a thought that you had. So >> that's what it is. >> You could breathe just fine. >> You know, can I can I talk to them? No. >> Why not? >> Because he blocked you for a reason. He doesn't want to talk to you. He doesn't want to talk to you. He does not want to talk TO YOU. >> YES, HE DOES. HE HAS HIS STUFF IN my car. Please, can I >> What stuff does he have? >> Can I have 3 minutes? >> What stuff does he have? Can I have >> I will go ask him and if he says no, you have to suck it up like an adult. You can't just always get what you want. This isn't your world and we're not living in your world. >> Okay. I'll ask him. If he wants to talk to you, I will let him to. What stuff does he have in the car? I DON'T EVEN I CAN'T EVEN THINK STRAIGHT RIGHT NOW. >> OKAY. WELL, YOU TRY TO THINK. >> PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE. >> Her mom. >> Yeah. >> Okay. I'll talk to her for real quick. Hold on a second. Madam, real quick. For any reason, do you want to talk to her? >> You can say no. I already said no for you, but yeah. Okay. Hi, Emily's mother. >> Hi. >> Hi, Emily's mother. My name is Deputy Osborne. I work for the Grundy County Sheriff's Office. How are you? >> Good. How are you? Well, uh, I'll try to give you as much detail as I legally can, okay? But, um, since Emily is an adult, she's under arrest and her car is getting towed, she's going to go to the Grundy County Jail. She's not hurt, she's not injured, but she just made some really, really, really stupid mistakes tonight. >> And, uh, if if you want to pick her up from the jail here at uh, it is 10:40 at night, probably by uh, 11, probably in an hour, she'll be available to be released. She can call you. She'll have her cell phone and her belongings and stuff. If you choose to want to pick her up from the jail, that's completely your choice. >> What if I don't pick her up? >> Well, then she's an adult. She's going to have to figure out some other means to get home. >> Oh, okay. So, she'll be released. >> Yeah. She's getting out of jail. >> Yeah. And unfortunately, she's This is almost We actually had her in here twice this week. um trying to get her set up with some uh uh intense uh mental health counseling. Um I know we had her at OSF in Ottawa. We had her in Morris. The cops were called this week cuz she punched holes in my walls and through tears and um we um she was supposed to be setting getting counseling set up. So um it just didn't come fast enough. Unfortunately, >> I got I didn't just randomly find Emily on my own accord. I got a phone call from a concerned citizen that she was driving like such a bad out of hell that she hit a stop sign out in the middle of the country cuz she's driving so fast. And I was walking out of the I got that call when I was at Casey's and Gardner. Following the incident, Emily was taken into custody and charged with leaving the scene of an accident, resisting arrest, reckless driving, criminal trespass. Because Illinois law does not require bond for these offenses, deputies noted she would likely be released shortly after processing. According to her family, the incident stemmed from a dispute with an ex-boyfriend, part of a broader mental health struggle they say had been escalating for weeks. No one was seriously injured that night. Still, what began as a routine hitun call turned into a volatile confrontation. A reminder of how quickly a standard traffic stop can spiral when crisis meets enforcement. If you like content like this, please like and subscribe.
