it's early Sunday March 13th 2022 and a routine traffic stop in monoman County Minnesota is about to turn into chaos on Eastbound highway 200 a manomen County Deputy tried to make a traffic stop on a driver for speeding [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Applause] continuing southbound Blair I got sticks out here in the Blair Road temp for we're we're coming up on Blair here correction we're coming on [Music] B 19 he's coming up here I'm going to back [Music] off coming up for bab right now [Music] the fleeing driver headed towards County Road 4 and Church Street in the village of natash about 50 Mi Northeast of Detroit [Music] Lakes eastbound Church Street as the driver refused to stop Deputy Dakota CER made a pit maneuver to force the car off the road coming up to the school good pit good pit occupied times four old projects He off into the ditch the car had six passengers but two of them including the driver fled on foot Deputy Cerny immediately tried to secure the remaining passengers they're running behind that blue house First Avenue I still have two more people in the set coming around the curve to go to mental put your hands up on the car on the car on the Cary wake up huh I'm from this vehicle back and out he did not just no no fir f [ __ ] tell [Applause] me get no [ __ ] going back down has stay back stay back we got a suspect down A9 we need a render Aid here there's one female suspect still standing there next to the gun we need to get her help 612 give me life or 11 are you okay we have shots fired one suspect down it's Gun there's one one female next to got it okay I need get this one in my car down suspect has B coming out out of her but out of her what4 just get them on seat not seen any other fire right now we can use some extra we have just one victim that's been shot I don't know cop she's okayed the [ __ ] cop shot her yeah we don't know if she's going to get LifeLight or not why you think she don't cuz she had a gun on her the cops got her up there I'm in the back of the cop car slide on the high speed chase and won't stop the deputy fired at Basswood striking her in the chest torso and legs he then provided Medical Aid to Basswood until Emergency Services arrived not seeing any other Firearms right now we could use some extra help where else are you hit keep talking to me where else are you hit your stomach stay there I'm going to hit my bad B he right [Applause] there he's stuck in a ditch hey roll up on your side she was first taken to the manomen Health Center and then to Sanford Medical Center in Fargo by a medical helicopter for further treatment news of the shooting gathered immediate attention online in criticism of Deputy cern's actions basswood's family members even put out a wanted poster with his photo saying he was wanted for attempted murder the sheriff's office said Basswood had warrants out for her arrest at the time of the incident that were related to an assault in June 2021 Basswood was eventually charged and pled guilty to assault of a peace officer receiving stolen property and being a felon in possession of a firearm a criminal complaint said because of her previous criminal activity Basswood isn't allowed to possess a gun or ammunition but the sheriff says since then Deputy xery's been the subject of a wanted poster circulating online which the sheriff says raises concerns for his safety told us to get out the car put her hands on the car and I had a Glock in my car pit and I extended clip my other armpit and it was really big so he said put your hands on car so I grabbed it out put the clip in but he heard that he turned around saw she has a gun just started shooting me they shot at me seven times I guarantee he would have shot more he didn't trip the purpose of releasing the segment of video is transparency there is a narrative being pushed through social media from a coalition out of the Twin Cities area stating Deputy cerney attempted to murder Basswood this Coalition has created a wanted poster uh regarding Deputy cery which raises serious questions about Deputy C's safety the intent of releasing this video is to make the public aware of the facts she was sentenced to a 10-year prison term and as of publication remains incarcerated in Shaka Basswood is expected to be released the day after Christmas 2028 and serve the remainder of her term on probation
