vehicle crash and observed a vehicle had run into a residence the unoccupied vehicle was identified as a vehicle that had recently fled from an attempted traffic stop the driver was located a short time later at his nearby residents hey I'm sorry please just here are you okay I was just trying to find my way home I I know I did bad I you can go you can go ahead and sit down you driving the car that hit the house on South 24th Street yes I was just trying to go home are you okay I shouldn't have do you need an ambulance or anything I don't think I need an ambulance but I got hurt because I didn't I didn't pay this batch 125 all be out with the driver I I'm the one who was driving responsibly I just want to make sure everybody's safe okay I just wanted to be home it was me okay have you been drinking or yes I just wanted to be home but I I was irresponsible okay how much you think you had to drink drinks 10 four I just wanted to be hi are you Mom or girlfriend okay all right's going on I drank too much and I drive home and I crashed into somebody's house de well I'm glad that you're being honest with me now because there's nothing else for me to do but be honest okay I just wanted to be home and un asleep it's my birthday are you hurt anywhere my feet hurt but other than that you didn't hit your head or anything did I just hope I didn't hurt anybody else uh at this point that and then you sped off East on Jefferson I assume that's probably correct do you remember seeing the cop lights behind you the little red and blues no sir I was not paying attention and then at one point you were South on 19th Street that's where I lost you I was just trying to get home do you remember Crossing 18th Street I can't tell do okay but but I that I was trying to get away how did you hit the house uh I legitimately don't remember I just remember it being so hard that I thought get out of the car get out of the car and go so you remember hitting a house I remember crashing I don't remember what I crashed into I couldn't see my glasses flew off of my face how did you get how did you get back home um I just kept running my like familiar surroundings in my home that was when somebody turned on their flashlights in my face and I knew I was like well no no hope for me now at least right so you didn't have anything to drink after the crash no sir you were on your way home no I had Dr I had plenty to drink beforehand but after that that's it I didn't drink any in my car I was just trying to get home all right let's go out here yes sir just take a left and have a seat up refusal form and then we'll bring him right back we just have to do that for liability for us it's nothing against what if I call what if I call the ambulance and review that won't work unfortunately making you go to the hospital so this is silly but have a seat the suspect was charged charged with aggravated DUI aggravated fleeing operating uninsured motor vehicle suspended vehicle registration disregard stop sign and leaving the scene on October 19th 2022 the suspect pled guilty to aggravated DUI all other charges were dismissed he was sentenced to 24 months probation for days in jail must pay $3,484 in fines and fees he must also pay $455 and 38 sense in restitution
