Get him. Fight. [Music] I got this. There's got to be like 20 cats in here. One is dead. One probably just dead. Roughly 20. 25. Put the dog down. What did I do? Put the dog down. Put the dog down. Don't touch me. I'm not playing either. Put the dog out. Some people have no business owning pets. Animals deserve love and attention, not neglect and abuse. Thankfully, when Good Samaritans witness and report the abuse of animals, we see firsthand what happens when good cops save pets from evil owners. Are you Miss Ferguson? Uh oh. Are you calling about my crybab? Yes. Yes, she's a crybaby. On June 23rd, 2021, officers were dispatched to a Walmart parking lot after a concerned citizen reported a dog left in a truck in sweltering hot temperatures. When the officers arrived, they were greeted by the caller as the truck's owner was nowhere in sight. and try to open the door. She said that the dog's been whimpering. He's panting. He's been in there for 15. Yeah. And I didn't have a water bottle with me, otherwise I would have just tried to pour some in there, you know. I was going to say the heat he Adam 240. I did try the doors. They are going to be locked. The dog is panting pretty heavily and whimpering. 240. What was the ETA on animal control? I'm sure that I can't remember if animal control breaks one for this stuff or if we could. Okay. Animal control takes a while. Do you have your driver's license by chance? Just so in case I do need a statement from from you. a while. Well, yeah. She said at least 15 minutes. She's on a a leash. Are you okay? Oh, that one's unlocked. 240. We got the truck car or door unlocked. With temperatures approaching 100°, being locked inside a truck could lead to the animals. Thankfully, the front passenger door was unlocked, allowing the officer to let the dog out. And you could tell that the dog was thankful for their assistance. Hi. You want to come outside? Come here, baby. Come on. Come on. Let's get outside. Can you get down? Oh, thank goodness. Come on, buddy. It's okay. You can do it. Come on. Come on, girl. Good girl. Good girl. Hi. Check girl. So, tell me what your thought is on like how to handle this. I think we should cite them. I've never had to sight that. Me neither. Um but so far we could probably put it at what about 15 minutes so far? Uh at least cuz she said that before she called um she'd unpacked her groceries. She said it was about 10 minutes before she called. So when does uh did dispatch say what animal control would be doing ETA? No, she said that they don't give ETAs that they were in route. You thirst and animal control I I would defer to them and let's find out what they would do normally. Okay. They may very well say, you know what, we're going to do a warning. We're going to do a welfare check on the dog. Where do you live? Blah blah blah. Yeah. And just make sure everything works out. And maybe they'll be the kinder gentler, but we're coming over here at 102 degrees. I'm like, in cars, it goes 15, 20 degrees over that. Oh my god. It's absolutely unacceptable. The officers continued to look after the dog while they waited for its owner to turn up. By this time, it had been just over 25 minutes since officers were alerted to the situation. In those temperatures, it was utterly unacceptable to leave the dog inside the truck, even with a window cracked open. Hi, you want some more? Oh my god. I have more in my car, too, if you need. This is hot water. It's probably not very good. She's like, I think like everything, I think water's water, baby. Oh my goodness gracious. Happy. Now, I love this situation. Can you page me the responders number so I can explain where we are and get a time frame? Yeah, if you want to competitor, you can. I can tell that you're easing over here. Let me see what your You got a name? I don't see it. Oh, look at that. Hi. You're so sweet. You're so sweet. Yes, you are. You come home with me. Hey there. So, we can get you a better time frame. Probably about 25 minutes now. 30 minutes now. Um, so the RP So, I'll let you guys do your work. Thank you. You got it. So, 30. So, the RP saw the dog initially at 2:30 is what we're estimating. And the people haven't come back out yet. All right. Well, and it's it's over 80. Oh, yeah. So, that's what you would We don't even need we don't even need a time limit. Okay. At 80° or more. Oh, sure. Illegal. It's still a good idea of negligence though. Yeah. Like this is bad. Yeah. The animal control officer explained that once the temperature outside exceeds 80°, the officers don't even have to prove negligence as it's illegal to leave a dog in a car unattended. When the owner returned, at best she was going to get a ticket. So, does this mean that you're going to give them a ticket? How does that work? Do we would we usually or would you? I mean, the only thing is I didn't remove them. I didn't see them in the truck. Okay. So, I just got to get your phone and put you down. You're the ones who found them and and took them out. Okay. What do you think? Do you want to or do you want me to for our first one? I either one. I think we one of us should do it though. Okay. So, it makes it a little cleaner since you're the What would we write it for? Do you know the statute? 200 is it for you have publicly municipal code that you can write it on. What do you use? I'll grab you for you. Okay. Thank you. Let me let me take a quick zap of the Oh, yeah. You stay with us. Okay. I know you like younger, but you got to stay with me. Yeah. Yeah. Good girl. Good girl. 13 seats 122 in the back. Yeah. Seats in the back are 114. So it's surface temperature. It's not air temperature. Okay. But just So do we use the hottest temperature which would be 140? It was a range from 114 to 130° on surfaces inside the vehicle. The animal control officer loaded the dog into his airond conditioned truck. From there, the dog would be taken to the pound, and as long as the owners paid a fine, they could come and collect her. As more than 40 minutes had now passed, the officers were sick of waiting and decided it was time to track down the owner. Ma'am, can I talk to you real fast? Yeah. Who do I need to talk to you about making a quick statement over the intercom? Um, I believe I can help you on what? Okay. Um, I was hoping that someone can make a statement over the intercom to the store for a Michelle Ferguson with a black Ram 150 Uhhuh. to go to return to her vehicle in the parking lot, please. Can I borrow this? Yeah, absolutely. Thank you. Yeah. [Music] Thank you. The announcement worked and it wasn't long before Michelle Ferguson showed up to speak with the officers. However, you would think she would be filled with concern or remorse or at least have a halfway decent excuse. Her reaction was disturbingly indifferent. This might be her. Are you Miss Ferguson? Uh oh. My cry baby doll. Yes. Yes. She's a crybaby. Well, there's a reason for that today. The windows are down. I haven't been in there that long. You have been though cuz I've been here at least 40 minutes. The dog would have died in the truck. Okay. So, she's no she's no not longer in there. She was removed 30 minutes ago. The animal control took her. Okay. Okay. So, why do I do the burn? The woman initially attempted to brush things off, insinuating that her dog was to blame, pretending it was a spoiled baby and crying out to passers by for attention rather than help. However, the officer explained that the situation was no laughing matter. Is it Michelle monster younger? My partner already explained animal control has a dog, right? Yeah. And this is what they also explained to me. They said when it when it gets about 80 degrees, anything inside the car still about 90, let's say, is an average. They said, "Yeah, we we could have taken that dog. We can give you dog animal cruelty charges." Windows down like that. She could stick her face out. This would be the only way that this would work out. Maybe if it was our 5 to 10 minutes. Maybe if you had the car on well and the air conditioning pay for my stuff when you guys called and I was like I just left the basket just just so you know all the time puts it in an hour she can come reclaim the dog at the shelter. How much? Cuz I'm I might have to forfeit her and then uh she asked how much is there a specific amount if she came over right now or if the dog's not licensed starts at $60. You call me 30 minutes ago. next. Go ahead. So, at least starts at 60 if if unlicensed. Okay. All right. I'll uh I'll give her this summons and she'll probably be on her right way. Um I will go ahead and give her her summons. She's on her way. Free to go. All right. And there there's info that you need from me. Yeah. You're free to go. Okay. Do you want to give her your card or you want me to give her my card? Um if do you want a card? Thank you. You got it. the the case numbers on the top. So, do did they say how much it was going to be? 60 if the dog's unlicensed. That's where it starts. Okay. So, what do I do if I have to forfeit her? Well, you hopefully you don't have to forfeit her. In all honesty, this is a rare instance where we hope the owner didn't collect their dog. If she didn't, perhaps the dog will have a loving family who wouldn't forfeit her over 60 bucks. On July 4th, 2024, officers with the De Moines Police Department responded to a call regarding a woman who appeared to be in the midst of a psychotic episode, running down the street, clutching her dog, and screaming at the top of her lungs. No, baby. What's going on? What is Why are you bleeding? Why are you bleeding? What's going on? Touch me. I'm not I'm not going to touch you. What's going on? I I just want to help you. You What's going on? They keep trying to kill me. Don't you go in that house. Good boy. Dexter, baby. You going to start ARIRL out here as well, please? Listen to your mommy. Hey, what's going on? Always been with you. What's going on? You want to talk with me? Don't touch me. I'm not going to touch you. What is going on? 265 million 2650 million. What's going on? Why are you bleeding? I'm not going to touch you. I'm not going to touch you. Nope, I'm not. I'm just right here. Okay. I want to help you. Where are you bleeding from? The officers wanted to assess the woman's injuries, but getting close to her proved difficult. She didn't seem to trust anyone, especially the law enforcement officers who were slowly backing her into a corner. To make matters worse, it appeared as though she was using her dog as a shield. Hey, I have another caller on the phone now. He says he's a friend or a boyfriend. supposed to be having a mental crisis hissors. She's hallucinating crisis as well. Uh, standby on that. She's not really wanting to talk with us. She's definitely bleeding from somewhere, but I can't see any weapons or any injuries at this time. The woman continued to avoid the officers while muttering to herself. The caller told dispatch that she wasn't on any drugs, but had mental health issues. According to the caller, she started cutting holes in the carpet because she was convinced that her boyfriend was stashing humans in underground tunnels. Do you want to talk with mobile crisis at all? We have eyes here. No. Anybody want to meet on that? What's your first name? What's your first name? I'm just trying to find out who you are so I can help you. Well, I can't do that. Get take take another step towards me and you're going to get pepper- sprrayed. Do you understand me? It was more than obvious that the woman was experiencing a psychotic episode. Although she just wanted the officers to leave her alone, that was unfortunately out of the question. They needed to secure her and get her in front of a mental health professional because in her current state, she was a danger to herself and others. Do not try to enter that house. Then you will be in trouble. By what? That's not your house. I feel threatened by the cops who are not protecting me. Well, I want to protect you. I want to help you. Okay. But this is not your house. Hurt me. No, this is not your house. Stop. This is your business. Make it known. Stop. Open the door. I I can't do that. I will keep coming down over and over and over. Do you know you guys have any experience with her at all? Thank you. Neighbor said she doesn't live there across the street. Yeah, I know. What's her name? She was up here. Haven't even got that out of her. She's she's dripping right now. Yeah, she's she's actively right hand. The woman's injury was getting progressively worse. The last thing she wanted was to let the officers near her, but they needed to check on her injuries. If she indeed has a history of paranoia, she might have been thinking that the cops wanted to abduct her, which would explain why she was so scared. Kevin, lady here, lady. Stop. Shut. Please. Please. I will not quit. You get the news. Get the news. Why are you trying to get in the house? Shut the I want the news. I want it hurt. It all needs to be heard. They've all tried to keep it quiet. Who? It's disgusting. Keep what quiet? Barbara, can we get your dog on a leash for you so it's easier to hold? Shut up. What can we do to help you? Harvey's, is there something we can do? Carols, swaps, Andersons, the corners, the coin, the Mullins, the Mullen, the beans, really. The woman continued to scream incoherently. The officers wanted to quickly get a hold of her. However, they were concerned that her dog would attack them if they startled it. Thankfully, they eventually saw an opportunity and made their move. Get off of me. What? Please. No. Get up here with the leash. Give me the leash. Give me a pull tight. Spider. She's a spider. Get the Get up here with the leash. Give me the lead. He's getting it around his head right now. Pass it through. He's got it now. Just I got it. I got it. I got the lead. I got the dog. I got the dog. I got the dog. I got the dog. All right. I got the 200. [Music] Unsurprisingly, the woman went berserk. Although it may look inhumane to forcibly place a woman in the middle of a psychotic break in handcuffs, it was necessary for her own safety and for the safety of everyone involved. That said, she was less than impressed about it. You will kill me on screen and you will see it's going to keep going. Police are disgusting. I hate them. They've done this to me over and over and over again. Help me. Get the off of me. Get off me. Get off me. Relax. Relax. You get the off me. I am stronger than what they say. I am stronger. Cut the [ __ ] off of me. I'm not a weak person. Somebody speak out. She She's trying to check quite a bit. Somebody I'm not crazy. I'm not crazy. I'm not on drugs. Help me. Well, now she just tried to bite him. She's going to jail. People trying to kill me. Help. [Music] Did she make contact with you at all? While the woman continued to scream and struggle with the officers on the porch, the man who reported the incident showed up. It turned out that he was friends with the woman's boyfriend and told them more about her recent paranoid episode. This going to start from the I don't know how much you can see here, but I don't understand. She was trying to tear the carpet up there. Does she live there? She'd been staying there with the boyfriend. Okay. Does she do any drugs? She has the scissors right there. She has scissors. Yes. In her hand. See it? I don't know if you can see them. I can see it. What's she doing? Let me see if I can brighten that up a little bit. It is all the way. Yeah, I can see it. Uh yeah, she's she's just accusing everybody of She's a tunnel from under the house to this box. There's a big box truck across the street. The Mexicans are working on a house next door. She thinks there's a tunnel to the box truck and they're both more trapped. Trying to cut carpet up with the scissors. Is she pregnant anybody with the scissors? Yes. Boyfriend. What' she say to him? She just said right here. You'll see her. Stay right there. She held it up. Can you go back just [Music] what you got to do? [Music] Where's he at? He's down to 4601. Can he come up here and meet us? I asked him to come and he's like, just bring the dog home. He's like, I don't want to deal with that right now. He's just stressed out bad. Is that him? No. Will you call the boyfriend and see if he wants anything from the police today? He does not want anything to do with the police. I know that. He's just stressed out, but I don't think they want to press wonder, you know. All right, we'll see. We'll see what we can do. All right. While it may be true that the boyfriend was stressed out, his girlfriend was in the middle of a psychotic break, face down in handcuffs, yet he couldn't be bothered to walk up the street and speak to the officers. After being successfully detained, the woman was loaded into an ambulance and transported to the hospital. Watch those feet. Watch those feet. Shouldn't have cramps. You have problems. Your feet down. Hey, I'm trying to fix it. Just relax. Okay. No. Listen to me. You're on the purple. The one in the back again. [Music] [Music] She just tried kicking me again. The woman was later transported to the county jail where she was charged with assault on a police officer times 2, interference with official acts, and domestic abuse with a dangerous weapon. On November 13th, 2023, an officer approached a man in a parking lot after his girlfriend reported that they had gotten into an argument over exes that turned physical. When the girlfriend called 911, she said they both threw each other's dogs from the vehicle. You have another puppy? Yeah, this one's mine. You have two puppies now? That one's not mine. That one's hers. What's going on tonight? So, the argument started with her ex-boyfriend that's uh beat his uh case for being negative. Go again. Beating her up. Okay. And we had an argument with her. Then they got um yelling at each other and then Okay, she threw my dog, I threw her dog. You guys threw each other's dogs. Yep. That's a problem. Okay. These poor dogs don't have anything to do with your very very dramatic relationship. And then she she hit me here. Okay. I got a lip and she hit me with a brush. Okay. And I might have her on accident. Stand by this one. Okay. You hit her on accident. Not hit her. Uh her. You her on accident? Yeah, cuz she was pulling my hair and I just wanted to let her go and I didn't realize she was hitting me with the brush. Okay. So, how did you her? Just like like this. Not too hard. Okay. All right. Choking her quote unquote by accident was an interesting way of describing it. The officer was more than familiar with the suspect, Jacob. He had told the officer many times before that he was done with the relationship, but that never seemed to be the case. So, are either of your dogs injured? No. I looked at her. I mean, the only thing that's broken is my phone. Did that get broken during the fight? Yeah, she threw my phone. I threw her phone. Okay. So, where did you guys throw each other's dogs? Uh, in the parking lot at Festival. So, describe that to me. It was in the van. inside the van. You threw each other's dog. She threw it in the back. I threw her dog in the back. Okay. Like just to kind of get at each other or what? Yeah. So, are you When when you said she hit you with the brush, did that hurt at all? Yeah. I got like a bunch of welts on my head and a a lip fat lip there. Yep. Okay. All right. You two seem to just have this relationship that like isn't good together. Okay. All right. It's not every day that a domestic abuse case ends with two lovers violently throwing each other's puppies. They should be ashamed of themselves for bringing the innocent dogs into their petty lovers quarrel. The officer then spoke to Jacob's girlfriend Samantha to get her side of the story. Take a couple deep breaths and then I need you to tell me exactly what happened. Okay. I laying in the in the van. Okay. And I told him move over cuz I needed space to move and I couldn't move and he started getting upset. And then we just started fighting and then we got physical and we were hitting each other and then he started my dog and then he my dog. Okay. So I was hitting him and then he turned around and he started me. Good. Okay. And you said you guys started fighting. Yeah. Okay. What happened when you started fighting? We were hitting each other and he was me and I was and then he started dog and Sure. He trying to kill my dog and I just he threw his phone out the car so he would go get it. So he would leave and stop the dog and he came back and he tried to the dog. So when he got out the van, I ate him with a can of soup. Okay. And then we left. We got out the van and I went and got my dog. Sure. And then he left. Credit where credit is due. Although what these two did to each other's dogs was unacceptable. At least they were being straightforward with the facts. Animal abuse aside, neither of them came across as untruthful, which made the officer's job easier. Did you hit him then? We were hitting each other. Okay. How did you hit him? The same way he hit me. Well, I know that, but I need you to explain how he hit you. Cuz you just said he hit you, but you haven't explained to me how he hit you. He was me and he was me. Can I look at your neck real quick? Can you turn your head the other way? Okay. When you when you were hitting him, were you hitting with like closed fist at all? I don't remember. I was don't remember. Okay. I just know we were hitting each other. Okay. Samantha swore that Jacob was responsible for starting the fight. She said that her ex-boyfriend was just released from jail. When Jacob learned that her ex contacted her, he flew into a jealous rage and wouldn't stop pestering her no matter how hard she wanted to drop the subject. Okay. Did you do anything to his dog? The same thing he was doing to my dog. Yes, I threw his dog. I sure did. Okay. Where did you throw it? In the van. Where in the van? Towards the door. Okay. Were you trying to hurt his dog? No. No. I I love these dogs. I take care of these dogs. You don't do for these dogs. Gotcha. Samantha also admitted to biting Jacob on the shoulder during the altercation. With direct confessions from both suspects, the officers had all they needed to take them into custody. However, when she heard the dog would be taken away, that's when Samantha really lost it. So, here's what's going to happen tonight. Okay. So, both of you are going to get up getting arrested. Okay. Okay. So, your dog is going to go with Officer Tisle here and they're going to be taken to the command society. Nope. If that's the case, no. I'll let him go. No, we're not doing that. All right. Go, ninja. Oh, you're not kicking me. I didn't do anything wrong. You're going to get How am I going to take me then? I didn't do anything wrong. You sure you can hit me and like that and still myself and I go to jail? Both of you are going to jail. It's not just you. She had no right to react that way. If she didn't want to be separated from her dog, perhaps they shouldn't have treated those animals like piñatas. After what she did, she proved to the officers that the dogs would be far safer with the Humane Society than they would be under her care. Stand up. Act like an adult. And let's go. No. Okay. Cuz then at this point, you're going to get another charge. Do you want another charge? Cuz you're not helping your situation. What am I being charged with to begin with? I will tell you as soon as we can walk up to the front of my car. Then I can get in the stupid car by myself and you put a seatelt on me and I will take it off. Well, like I said, now you're my responsibility. So, yes, you will be having a seatelt on me. And I will take it off. Why are you trying to be difficult? I don't understand why you're mad at me. Because why the am I going to jail? I will explain it to you. And until explain to me, I'm going to be as difficult as I possibly can. Okay, that's fine. Well, just give me 5 seconds and I can explain it to you. Can you scoot back for two seconds, please? Okay. Okay, Samantha. So, this is what you're getting arrested for. Okay. So, you're getting arrested for domestic disorderly conduct. Uhhuh. Domestic battery. Uhhuh. Animal abuse. Uhhuh. Okay. And then um as far as I know, that's going to be it. The officer was right. Samantha had no one to blame but herself for her predicament. Even if Jacob threw her dog first, it didn't give her the right to take out her anger on his dog. Two wrongs don't make a right. And the dogs had nothing to do with their twisted relationship. All right, Jacob. Um, she did explain to my partner the same kind of things that you said. She admitted to hitting you, punching you, that kind of stuff. Okay. Um, she's saying that at one point you took her dog and you wereling her dog. No, I just grabbed him from the harness and that's when he yelled. Okay. You weren't strangling it or anything like that. Okay. Can I have you set your phone on the seat for me, Jacob? Yeah. Okay. Go ahead and step out for me. Okay. I'm just gonna take you into custody. Okay. Hang on. This is Hang on. I'll talk to you about that in a second. Okay. Just I'm just gonna set your keys down. Okay. Okay. Right now, you're under arrest for the domestic. Okay. And she's also under arrest. You're both under arrest. Okay. So, here's I'll explain that to you. Okay. Here's what's going to happen. Okay. through the course of your guys's altercation tonight, at one point, one of you or both of you abused both of your dogs. Okay, that's kind of a problem. The female officer explained that his dog along with Samantha's would be transported to the pound. If he wanted his dog back, he would have to take it up with representatives from the Humane Society and pay a fine. He was then searched before being placed in the back of the cruiser. Have a seat there for me and I'll find you. What kind of shoes you got in your car? Um, white shoes. white shoes. Okay. Can I get those out for you? Yeah. Okay. When all is said and done, you will you let me lock up your vehicle and everything so it's secure. Yeah. Okay. [Music] Okay. Little fella. Both suspects were arrested on multiple domestic charges and their puppies were taken to a shelter. Hopefully, they were released into the care of a loving family who could look after them properly. On February 6th, 2023, a police officer responded to a residence following a call from animal control regarding animal abuse. When the deputy arrived, she was greeted by an animal control officer who briefed her on the situation. Hi. It's okay. Now you bark. Okay. But that one right there is deceased. They're they're sickly. A lot of them are missing tails, which makes you question whether or not properly fed. I came. There's food, but there's no clean water. [Music] I know, honey. You said they cannot get out. So, these four have been getting out for all their Okay. So, this this lady owns a home, does not live here. Correct. I knew she was bringing six cats with her. Okay. That was all I knew. And when did she move in here? November. Okay. I did not know this until Saturday. Okay. There's got to be like 20 cats in here. One is one probably just dead. Roughly 20 25 20 to 25 cats uh in various conditions of like not good. The conditions inside the cage were horrible with over 20 cats cramped inside the tiny space. In fact, they were so bad that numerous cats were strewn around the floor. It was unacceptable. So, the person responsible was going to have a lot of explaining to do. Hey, good morning. What's your first name? Bobby. What' you say? Bobby. Bobby. I'm Deputy Booseley um with County Sheriff's Office. Those cats came from around here. Okay. How did they get in there? There were used there was a back opening and I kept trying to block it off cuz I had my cat in there cuz she was allergic to cats. So mine was in there at first and then all of a sudden there was more and Okay. And I was going I contacted that place and they were supposed to come out Thursday. Okay. You had one cat that is allergic to cats and the other ones got in. There was an opening in the back. Yep. Opening in the back. And you tried to All of a sudden you tried getting out getting out. Was there any cats in there before you moved in here? No. I know. You just brought your one cat. I know. Well, I brought there was six of them, but they you should have seen some out here on the table. They were fine. How many did you bring here with you? Six. Okay. But some ran away. I was I called the town on that and they gave me they gave me information also at the town for rehoming places and I had changed my mind. I was buy my own place and just keep moving the cats and then next thing you know everything exploded and I didn't want them hungry. If the woman Bobby didn't want the cats to go hungry, perhaps she should have tried feeding them instead of locking them in a cage and disappearing to her boyfriend's place for days. It was a disgusting display of neglect and her fake concern wasn't going to help her get out of this one. Okay. A typical day. What does it look like as far as the tarps go and only it's only like that when it's at night when it's cold. Um I had a heat lamp in there. That's what started it all. My food in there and the heat lamp. And then with the tarps, it was just to keep block out the sun, block out any of the elements to keep it warm. That's it. Okay. Bobby claimed that she raised and lowered the tarp depending on the temperature. She also said she kept the cage fully stocked with food and clean water, but how she managed to do that while being away at her boyfriend's place for days at a time was anyone's guess. Okay. Have you noticed any like recent health issues or changes in any of them? Nothing like that. No, everything was fine. Okay. Nothing. You didn't notice anything yesterday? You said you came here yesterday to feed and water them. And you didn't notice any of them look out of the ordinary? I told him I said it looks to me like one just she just looks lethargic. But I would never like knowingly and intentionally hurt an animal. Okay. I would never do that. Okay. And Miss Bobby, this is kind of where we're at right now. Okay. You're being honest with me. We're going to be honest with you right now. Okay. Um, as far as statutoily wise goes in the state of Florida, um, if you have custody of animals or anything like that, you know, you have to maintain them and take care of them, okay? Um, anything that results in like, you know, unusual suffering or cruel suffering or death or something along those lines. Those are chargeable offenses in Florida. After the officer delivered the bad news, Bobby looked visibly distraught. But whether that emotion came from guilt or just the sting of getting caught is up for debate. One thing's for sure, true animal lovers don't let their pets starve to. The animals, you know, some of them they've got like, you know, gunk like their eyes are really gummed up and everything. It looks like they're they got cataracts or something along those lines. Okay. Um, and so that's kind of where we're at right now. I mean, I don't know if animal controls talked to you and they've they one we're going to be they have to take on. That's fine. I mean, that that was the whole point for Thursday. That was fine. And Thursday, when you say Thursday, was it last Thursday? Is it Thursday? Who did you call? I can't remember the name of the place, but the girl's name was Diana. Not Diana. Okay. Diana um Riff, I think it was Ala. They were coming out here to come get them. Do you have a phone number or anything like that? It's all in my phone. All in your phone. And that's back at your place. No. No. Where's your phone? It's in there. It's in the car. Okay. Do you mind grabbing our phone for us real quick? No. Hey. Hey. Miss Williams. Take a breath. Okay. We've got to do our jobs. Okay. Like you know, [ __ ] anything that happens here, we don't want to deal with her, but we got to do what we got to do. Okay. Bobby claimed she had already been in contact with an animal shelter and had arranged for them to come and collect the cats. However, when the officer asked for the name and number of the shelter, she claimed she didn't have it because she had deleted all her previous messages with them. Um, that's where we're at now. Unfortunately, because we've got uh just everything that we've investigated today, we're we're going to be we're going to be making an arrest on the uh animal neglect here. And not to say that later on once it goes through the court systems that things can't be dropped down or change, you know, anything like that, but based on what we see here today, um and and everything that's going on, that that's where we're at at this current moment. is still got to go through court and everything like that. So, um things can change from here to there. Um and and where where we're at right now is you were trying to get help for him. Okay. But it's a little too late on that. Okay. We we got two ones in there right now. Okay. Um, then part of the statute is is while it might not have been intentional for you to do it, they were still under your custody and control. Okay. Does that make sense to you, ma'am? Do you have questions on that at all? Okay. Okay. Make sure you'll slide it. The best way is just slide your butt in there. Yep. Bobby was charged with three counts of aggravated animal cruelty and 23 counts of animal cruelty. She received 36 months of probation and served 7 days in jail with 7 days credit. On July 31st, 2023, a woman called the police claiming that she found a dog on the side of the road a few doors down from her house. The caller, Kayla, said she carried the dog to her place in an attempt to nurse it back to health. However, she soon realized it was in worse condition than she had originally thought. I found her down the street this morning. I asked neighbors. She She was barely breathing. She She had blood coming out of her. She had worms. I don't I don't know who asked everybody whose dog was it. They said, "Don't nobody on this street have a lab." Everybody got pits. German Shepherd and all. She's alive. She's a puppy. Oh, she's breathing. I called the dog worded three times since 8:00 this morning. You got her a towel. This is the only thing I have. Is you Did you see any open wounds? No, ain't no open wounds. Like, it ain't nothing. Um, I was feeling on her ribs and her ribs feel like somebody kicked her. Let's get her on this. I'm going to bring her to the animal hospital. Please, please, please let me know. She's okay. Can you open my door for me? Can you open this door for me? You want to bury a cup? I found you. Perfect. The officer rushed the dying dog to the nearest emergency vet hospital. While there, he learned that the canine was fitted with a locator microchip and data. And as a result, he returned to speak to Kayla, hoping she could point him in the direction of the owner's home. Please. All right. No. Uh, she got to the hospital and then, um, they accepted care and I said that actually she's microchipped. So, really? Yeah. So, she was somebody's dog. Yeah. At some point. But I was wondering where where you found the Kayla went into detail about how she tried to nurse the dog back to health, claiming that she tried to contact the Humane Society three times with no luck. Next, the officer asked her to show him the exact spot where she found the dog. I'm trying What I'm trying to determine is if the dog was a stray that didn't eat for a while. I don't I found her. She looked like she was starving. And I literally I forced, not really forced, I tried to force some chicken broth down her throat, some water down her throat. I made a post on Facebook um about it. Um, and somebody told me, you know, it was let I made a post talking about, you know, there's coming out and all that. Um, next door to where them people are moving in. Okay. The house is just now getting built. It has like it don't have tile and everything on it. She was sitting right not that fire hydrant. She was right by that pole right there next right after the fire hydrant. She was laying by the pole. They weren't there. Okay. So, if you want to ask them where Kayla pointed out the exact spot where she had found the dog. However, she said she had no idea where it came from or who its owner was. The officer was trying to figure out if the dog's injuries were due to abuse. But without an owner to question, it was difficult to confirm. So, the dog is at Metropolitan Vet Hospital. trying to take a picture of where where it's at cuz I just I want to know if she's okay like cuz if anything like if they do you know like if they get her into health or whatever are they going to find find her owner or cuz whoever the hell she's microchipped with they need to get the trouble because especially if she don't live in this neighborhood ain't no ain't no dog walking over here with like I said it might be a lost dog could have been lost for months I don't know but listen uh Metrop called veterary hospital. That's where she's at. Yeah. And here's their info down there, too. Okay. Just give them a give them a call. And uh, you know, if you're interested in taking the dog and I'll let them know. I was going to say it's Oh, if you Yeah, I'm sure you probably will already, but you might want to post photos of her on Facebook and say where where she's at now. I already did. Well, now I'm I'm going to edit it and add it to the hospital and see if anybody knows who whose dog it is. So, um, but I don't know. We'll uh I I left on the form there. I left them uh my email so that they could email me if if they think it's abuse or, you know. Okay. The only thing that makes me think it might not be abuse is that typically people that would neglect their dog like that wouldn't get a microchip. You know what I mean? side. It It could be that it was So, are they going to check the microchip and see like Yeah, I'm sure they will. That's That's Those are all questions that in the back. Oh, I'm call Those are really all questions for them, but I'm sure that they will. The microchip led the vet clinic to a pet adoption center. Shortly thereafter, the officer received a call from a representative from the adoption center informing them that the injured dog was one of two dogs Kayla had been fostering. To get to the bottom of things, the officer and the adoption center rep paid another visit to Kayla. Is Kayla here? Kayla? No, she's not here. No, I don't even know why she was here. If she was here, she didn't stay here. She was here earlier. Um, what did you want her to call you or something? Were you trying to get in contact with her? Well, we're trying to find her. You know where her dogs are at? Her dogs? No, I don't. Those are my dogs. You mind if we look at him real quick? I do. I actually don't cuz I don't know what was going on earlier. Can you tell me what happened? Yeah. Uh, she turned into a dog that was What kind of dog? Emassiated. And what kind of dog was it, sir? Such a lab. A lab? Oh, yeah. I have none of those. I don't even like labor. Okay. Well, you mind if we verify that real quick? The man was very standoffish with the officer. If he had nothing to hide, there was no reason not to let the officer see the dogs. His excuse was that he feared the officer would confiscate his dogs, which didn't make any sense as police officers don't just confiscate healthy dogs from responsible pet owners. After a bit of convincing, the man eventually agreed. All right, y'all get in the house. What are y'all doing? Go in the house now. In the house. In the house. We're not trying to be difficult for something she did. Come to the door. only three dogs I have. Sir, you can't see him through the screen. Come on, man. You can see him. I'm not You're not about to take my dogs. Can you open the door for us? You're not about to take my dogs, man. I literally can't. This is unbelievable. Kayla came to one of a kind pet rescue. Okay, I know nothing about that. On April 25th and she and this is her signature. All right. And this is the date, April 25th. And she agreed to foster two puppies for us, Reggie and Renee. And this is the address that she gave us. I don't know why she keeps doing that, but it was all the way back in April. So, I don't know. Maybe she was No, actually, it wasn't because I had this protection order is from last year. She was She calls She called the police, right? Did she reach out to you guys? Talking about that that puppy that that that that I heard somebody told me that there was a dog laying in my driveway, but I know nothing of the situation. Can you tell me what happened, bro? Please. The officer gave the man the rundown of what happened to the injured dog. As the adoption center rep explained, her primary concern was locating the injured dog's brother, whom Kayla was also responsible for fostering. You just call us back if you get more information about where the folks are at. Yeah, cuz that's me. Can you uh can you GPS them? Can you figure out where they are exactly? Oh, so you just scan the ship to show who's the ownership. Okay. You have you not seen her lab at all? Like her lab mixed up at all? I don't I don't deal with Labrador Retrievers. I don't like Labrador Retriever. It's a Shepherd Shepherd lab. I got the golden I got the golden doodle in there. That's the closest I'm going to get to a Labrador retriever or golden retriever. That's as close as I'm going get. That's closest I'm going get. I don't like She stay somewhere around here. She stays in Cleveland. Ohio. And I've dealt with her a few times out here before actually with the with that same your blue nose pit. That's possible. That's possible. Lost it over at the dog. That's possible. That's possible. That's what I'm trying to tell you. My dog just got stolen. You feel me? Cuz she came to my house, had access to my house without my permission. Took my dog out of the house and got him stole and under a restraining order. I can't even I don't have a restraining order to get her. She has one. Yeah. Period. So, you know, there's nothing I can really do about that. It seemed Kayla tried to frame her ex-boyfriend for her own negligence. In the end, she was charged with animal neglect. She was found guilty of animal cruelty and sentenced to 180 days suspended, 3 days of community service, and is not allowed to own animals for 5 years. On January 2nd, 2020, officers with the Cleveland Police Department raided a house for. But once officers arrived, they found something they weren't prepared for. 12 dogs and evidence of a dog fighting operation. They're all in the back. Yeah. Well, there's most of the dogs are back here. There's two friendlies that are inside the house. The friendlies that are in our house. Yeah. the owner of the house and the dogs with prior convictions for dog fighting. Oh, okay. Um, and the only resident here that's here now is going to be going to jail. Oh, okay. All right, let's start loading. You all right? What's that? So hopefully they can show you. See this open source fighting see? I can't some open source on his front legs. That's the place was an absolute dump. How the owner wasn't reported for neglect earlier by his neighbors was astonishing given the conditions of his backyard. As the owner had prior convictions for dog fighting, the officers set to work removing the dogs from the premises. Good enough pictures. I'll hear you. Hold it sideways and if you need to zoom in at all. That one lot of bulldog in there. So carry these little guys, right? Bulldog in there. The kennel was massive, filled with multiple breeds of dogs, some with fresh injuries. As the officers continued documenting the scene, dogs were popping out of every nook and cranny, and soon the scale of abuse became apparent. [Music] You know what? right here. So, it's got it. What's up, buddy? Is there more than more than 12 or was that 10 out here? Two inside. Okay. As the officers continued removing the neglected dogs, more and more injuries and signs of fighting surfaced. It takes a special kind of low life to engage in dog fighting, and the person responsible should be punished accordingly. Hopefully he'll never be allowed to own animals again. Let me take a picture of that. You want it? Yeah. Got it. Got it. All right. Let's get out of here, buddy. Come on. Come on. Did you ever get a hold of APL? I left the message. It's the hot. Okay. I got to get me info. Pretty up, huh? Take a quick picture of him before you put him up in. Animal control officers responded to the scene, seizing 12 dogs in total, taking on new charges for the arreste, including charges for dog fighting and cruelty to animals. On February 22nd, 2021, officers were dispatched to a bar in Florida after a concerned citizen called police telling officers that an intoxicated woman was mishandling her puppy, roughly hanging it by its leash and allowing it to eat off the dining wear. When the officer arrived, he was greeted by bar staff who filled him in on what happened. [Music] main thing is she's got the little dog. Right. By the time the officer caught up with the woman, paramedics were already on scene checking her vitals to make sure she wasn't having a medical issue. And surprise, surprise, she wasn't. She was just drunk. As a result, the paramedic's work was done and it was time for the officer to take over. So, what what's ma'am? I didn't. No, you didn't. Somebody didn't know. Yeah, I believe. I don't know who. Are you okay? Sounds fine. How about you had a drink? I was right there. One martini. Yeah. You all right, though? Where do you live? I live four blocks away. Four blocks away. Damn. You look familiar to me. That's why. I know. Yeah, that's You are familiar to me. Yeah. Me and you. Me and you are cool. You don't remember me? You don't You remember me? I do. You want me to take you home? No. Fine. I'm sitting over. But you're you I don't know if you're disturbing other customers or what's going on. You not anybody? No. No. For real? When you're not. Do you feel drunk? Are you guys serious? Do you feel drunk? Pardon me? Do you feel drunk? Not at all. Just one more teeny. One more teeny for me. That's like breakfast. Right. Baby, I'm right now. I'm fine. All right. Let me go talk Let me go talk to them and see what they want to do. Give me a hug. I can't give you a hook of the but let me go see what they want to do. After the woman denied that she was intoxicated, claiming that she had just one drink, the officer proceeded to talk to the bartender who informed him that although she had asked the woman to leave several times, she refused to budge. They they want you to go home. So they want you to they want you to settle up your tap and then I can either take you home or we can, you know, give you a ride home or something. That I did say you did. They But how do they have the right to do that? You know, they just they're Yeah, they want you to pay home and then they want you to leave. We could take you home. You seem like you're not that you seem like a little buzz, but I think you'll be okay. But we'll give you a ride home with the pup. Just go ahead and pay. I'm so sorry. What's going on in this town? No, it's okay. Jesus. You know what, Nikki? We're not going to anybody else. So, did you pay guys do it? Yeah. Yeah. Did you pay? Did you pay? I see your receipt right there. Whatever. You got to pay her. It's right right there. No, it wasn't. I think it was I think it was somebody that left the bar. Yeah. You might have made somebody angry or something. They're nice. They like you here, too. The officers were trying to get the woman to pay up so they could escort her home and stop wasting the bartender's time. But that was easier said than done. Most likely due to her level of intoxication, the woman was stalling her exit. No, I'm not going to stop cuz I You work for you guys, but I know who you are. I don't care if you know you. I don't care. So what? We're going to take you home. Just leave me alone. We can't leave you alone. You're too intoxic. Okay. We're going to take you home. We're going to pay your tab. Okay. So pay. Please stop touch. You can pay your tab. Hey. No, no, no, no, no. Listen. I just want to pay. Listen, listen, listen, listen. You pay your tab. We can take you home or we can pay your tab and take it with us. You okay? What would I get with you? Okay. No. What would I get with you? What would you get with us? What does that mean? Did you pay? Okay. So, here's the deal. They want you to leave. Did you get to go a bike down here? It doesn't You don't have to do anything. They just want you to leave. That's their problem. All right. The woman was getting progressively more agitated and aggressive. Berating the officer was one thing, but once she began harassing the bar staff, the officer decided he had seen enough and gave the woman an ultimatum. Okay, here's the deal. You got one more chance to get your wallet and pay the tab or you're going to jail. That's it. You might want to go to jail. You got one more chance. Please don't touch. You have one more chance. You don't know. Put the dog out. What did I do? Put the dog out. Put the dog out. Don't touch me. I'm not playing either. Put the dog out. Put the dog out. Please. Stop. You [ __ ] Help me. Is this wrong? This is so wrong. Put your hand behind your back. Stop resisting. Put your hand behind your back to stop, ma'am. Put your hand behind your back. Stop. Okay. Oh my. You're being charged with You're being charged with battery. Leo. Quit violence. Ow, you're hurt. You're hurting me. The woman made an embarrassing spectacle of herself. She gave the officer permission to use her card to pay her tab. Although she continued to apologize, it was too late. She shouldn't have waited until she was in cuffs to cooperate. Where do you live? Right down the street. Yeah, I know that. But that way we can take your dog there. Do you have anybody that can take care of your dog? Please take this dog off. He's hurt me so much. All right. Oh, I'm so sorry. Do you want to leave her at 10? Of course I do. Okay, I'll leave. How's your total bill out of 10? What do you want to leave? 10. Yeah, of course. Okay. Your puppy. Take your puppy home. What are you going to do with me? You're going to jail. Why? What the What did I do? You hit me. I can. Yes, ma'am. Oh, I'm sorry. You hit me right in the chest. Oh, I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. I took care. I didn't know. You're being charged with resisting arrest. Trespass after warning. 71 years old. You should have got You should have left when you had the chance. We were digging your butt and slide all the way across. The woman was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest with violence. Her puppy was taken to the local animal shelter and was released back into her custody later that day. Animal abusers are among the lowest of the low. In the midst of abuse, animals can't speak up or fight back. But sometimes the police arrive just in time. And when they do, we get to see what happens when good cops save pets from evil owners.
