What did I do though? >> I didn't shop lit. I didn't steal. You thought I stole something but I didn't. >> I saw money. >> I didn't. No, I didn't. >> Where did you get money? >> I got it offer up. I just sold a TV on Offer Up today. >> But I didn't know. Every year, Target reports approximately $400 million in losses due to shoplifting, while Walmart loses up to $3 billion annually to theft. These massive losses lead to higher prices, stricter security, and even store closures. It's no wonder police act fast when customers at Walmart, Target, or other stores think they're above the law. >> Pay for everything. Everything. That stall that stay. >> On August 24th, 2024, police in Wakaua, Wisconsin were dispatched to a Walmart following reports of a retail theft in progress. A 42-year-old suspect named Kenya was caught altering the price of items at the selfch checkckout before leaving. When officers arrived on the scene, a Kenya walked back into the store and attempted to return the items, but it was too late. >> Hello. I >> What's that? >> She's at the service desk right now. >> Okay. What's going on? >> Um, she just she was using a different ticket to protect the tickets for a bunch of like pulled her in here and said, "Okay, she's trying to return." >> Okay. So, she has So, she has a legitimate return right now. >> She's returning Well, she never paid for it. She's returning the stuff that she used. So, she used like $10 short ticket, right? Hey, we got to talk to you. >> Don't walk with me like that because you don't know me. We don't got no problem. I just got done exchanging everything. They got everything together. This is what's paid for. I just >> Okay. So, what's this misunderstanding? >> Cuz they said I under wrong, but they can't find these shorts. Like I told I'm going to pay for everything. I just spent $500 in here. Okay. >> 250 in one line and 200 another line. He said I wrong, but how did I under full price besides two daughters? Get the out of here. >> Kenya was bursting with attitude right out of the gate. She could swear up and down that she hadn't altered the price of various items at the selfch checkout counter, but the loss prevention staff had evidence that said otherwise. She was using like some sweatshirt and stuff like that. That's why she didn't have any $10 ticket and that's what I was talking about. She's saying I mean she's she has like the actual other ticket in her hand and she's like putting in front of the thing scanning it. This is later. So, >> okay. So she tried taking me out. >> Oh, I guess the things that she was trying to >> came out about maybe something I think. >> Do you have that uh receipt? >> Yeah, here we are. >> There's no doubt that selfch checkckout stations are convenient. But unfortunately, thieves routinely frequent them for other reasons. Noticing obvious discrepancies between what Kenya was saying and what was written on her receipt, the officer had some questions for her. It sounds like you didn't actually buy shorts. >> And this is what I'm telling him. I did have one pair of shorts for $5. They're in there on the counter. The other pair was army or tea. They were over there on the counter. Everything I did this lady is over there. All the receipts, the the lounger, everything, everything is over there. Every single thing. So, how did how did four or five different I guess. So, these are all things that I grab. So, that's what they run up as. And like I told him, I got all the items right here. So, if you run up, you see I run it plain as day every single one. But I'm not going to let this. [Music] The loss prevention clerk said that initially he wasn't going to call the police. But due to Kenya's attitude, he felt he didn't have a choice. Not only did she shoplift, but she also lost her chance to negotiate her way out of trouble. >> Okay. All right. Um, we are going to have to take you into custody. For what? >> Hold on. Wait. Hold on. Wait. Stop. Don't grab it. Hold on. Wait. I'm not I'm not fighting under arrest. >> Excuse me. Wait. Underrest. >> Stop. Because I didn't under ring. What did y'all talking about? >> Let go of my No. Hold on. >> You're under arrest. >> Stop. You are under arrest. >> Stop. Listen. Please. I'm telling you. Listen, Miss You don't got to do all this. Please stop. You >> are under arrest. >> I understand that. But please stop. >> Stop fighting with us. >> I'm not fighting. I'm just telling you. >> I don't have no problem with that. >> I don't understand. >> Oh, I don't got no problem with that at all. But y'all not going to just manhandle me like this for no reason. It's my baby's birthday. Y'all sick as a for this. >> Someone needed to inform Kenya that it wasn't illegal for the officers to arrest her on her daughter's birthday. Due to her own actions, the only place she would be celebrating her baby's birthday would be in jail. And it won't be fun. >> Hell no. >> Behind your back. You're going to get tased. Hands behind your back. You're going to get tased. >> You're under taser. Taser. Taser. >> For what? For what? Why are you What are you Get your hands off your basket. >> Get your hands. >> What the [ __ ] wrong with you? What are you doing? >> What are you doing? >> What are you doing? What the are you doing? What are you doing? >> What are you doing? The question wasn't what the officers were doing. It was more like what was Kenya doing fighting with multiple police officers while taking the business end of a taser. If she thought she was in trouble before, that wasn't even half of what was coming for her. >> Listen, when I say you lost your mind, >> put your hand behind your back. >> You're under arrest. >> Put your hands on your back. >> Put your hands down. Tasha, please record this. Please record this because she's nearing me and punching me. Tasha, record it. >> Record it. >> Record it. Tasha, she ting me. She near me. Look at her. >> Let's go, Kenya. >> Do it now. >> You crazy. >> Oh, my soul. She twice already. Let's go. >> My god. >> Get your hands behind your back. >> What is wrong with y'all? >> Hands behind your back. >> What? What? >> Hands behind your back. Keep them there. >> Stop resisting. Kenya behind your back. >> Get down on the ground in your stomach. >> Kenya was a fullfigured woman and the officers were having a hard time subduing her. Thankfully, more officers arrived on the scene in the nick of time to help them put her in cuffs so they could have better control of the situation. I can't lay on my pregnant. I'm not refusing. I'm not refusing. I am a pregnant woman. >> I am a pregnant woman. I didn't do nothing. >> I didn't do nothing. >> That's five times they tasted. >> She was lucky she didn't get tased more than that. The funny thing was she wouldn't have been tased at all if she had simply placed her hands behind her back when the officers asked her to. And if she really was pregnant, she should have thought twice about putting up a fight. >> They paid me for nothing. When I say for nothing, that oh godamn damn was on the G and I'm pregnant and she need me >> and she punched me. >> Kenya, just relax. >> All of this because I did not I did not steal. 216. You have an ambulance. You're fighting >> relax. I'm not fighting at all. >> Relax. >> Y'all dead ass wrong. When I say y'all dead wrong, I mean y'all dead as wrong. >> The idea that she had done nothing wrong was absolutely ridiculous. As anyone with eyes could clearly see, she committed a crime and resisted arrest, plain and simple. Shortly after the altercation, EMS arrived on the scene to treat her wounds and transport her to the hospital. >> Get you some better training, Miss Lady. >> You didn't have to punch me. You didn't have to punch me. You didn't have to knee me because I wasn't resisting. You had no right to put your hands on me. None whatsoever, Miss Lady. Because I wasn't resistant. I didn't lay on my stomach because I was pregnant. When you told me to slide down, I slid down, but I didn't get on my stomach. She pranked my soul. Hey, for everything. Everything. That's fault. That's fault. They let me leave. I was standing back. >> Y'all did all this. >> It's in the lower abdomen. So, let's >> I paid for everything. I came in this with $500. >> Grab it on there. >> Smash that mother out. All this at Walmart for me. >> Well, you're you're resisting. >> I didn't resist, though. I didn't resist. I did not I did not resist at all. >> Kenya was arrested and charged with retail theft by altering the price. Repeat offense. Resisting arrest, repeat offense, and attempting to disarm a peace officer. Her cash bond was set at $2,500. But that's not all. Thanks to her prior criminal traffic offenses, Kenya was sentenced to 10 months in jail with Huber release and 3 years probation. On September 14th, 2024, police officers were dispatched to Target following reports that an individual was attempting to pay for merchandise with a counterfeit bill. When the officers arrived, they encountered the suspect, a young female, in the parking lot. >> Okay. Hello, ma'am. >> I I didn't take >> Okay, you're being detained. Everything's being auto recorded. >> Wait a second. Why are you detaining me? >> We're going to talk about it. Just relax your arms. He's We'll tell you once the handcuffs are on. >> Garrett, >> why am I being detained? Sir, >> because >> I didn't steal anything. No one stole anything. We're investigating crime day that you try to use a fake $100 bill. So, we're I'm going to read your rights once we get in there. We're going to >> Wait a sec. Can you stop? I didn't know. I did not. It's not fake in >> Okay. The handcuffs come off just as easily as they go on. Okay. But we have to check into it. All right. So, right now, you have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can or will be against you law. >> While the officers read the suspect Cassandra her rights, she continued to deny that she had done anything wrong. However, as the officers explained, she was being detained pending investigation. To get to the bottom of things, the officers led her to the loss prevention office for questioning. >> This one right here? >> Yeah. >> And I even had it checked. >> I checked the apprentice cuz I got it from somebody on Offer Up today. And I didn't know it was fake. I sold a TV today. >> So, where did you get the money? >> I got it offer up. I just sold a TV on Offer Up today. >> But I didn't know >> and I'll even file a claim with Offer cuz you can file arbitration. I did not know, sir. Judging from the looks of the bill, it was hard to believe that Cassandra didn't know it was a fake. It was missing watermarks and included the wrong font. Furthermore, somebody had scribbled a website address on the front of it. >> I even I even went on that website that's listed on the bill and it's an actual website. >> I thought it was kind of weird. >> And then what So what did the >> It's a track my bill. So you can put in the serial number on the website and you can see everywhere the bill has been and where it goes. >> Okay. And what did >> and what did the website say? >> It just put it let me put in all the information on the serial number and everything. >> You just register with them and then you put in like your email so that it can like track you when you log back in and stuff like that and then you punch in the number on the front of the bill and that's how you track where the bill goes. >> Okay. And then they didn't tell it like the website didn't say where it's >> I didn't get that part. It just registered. >> Okay. You can see it though, can you barely >> I don't I honestly I mean I see where the ink smudged but I don't actually see >> on the left hand side there's a a strip in the bill. >> Well, I know there's a strip. >> That's all that's what I thought you look for when you are looking for money. >> No, that's not there's actually like a picture of one of the presidents like ingrained in the bill in a very like faint way that when you pulled it up so you >> There is one on that. There's not. >> Can I show Can I show you where it's at? >> If you put it up to the sky, you can see his face on this side, but right where your finger is. Right there. >> It's supposed to So, it should be like right here is where you should see like the face. >> I thought that the strip goes on the left side, the face goes on the right side. >> Cassandra seemed to know what to look for to spot a legitimate bill, but all that did was make the officers more suspicious. To get to the bottom of things, the officers escorted her to their police cruiser for more questioning. But they quickly noticed that her purse was full of IDs and credit cards from various people. >> Cassie. >> Yeah. >> You've been contacted by the police 164 times. I think you know that we need your full legal name when we ask you what your name is. >> I'm sorry, sir. I wasn't trying to be with you. I told him to take my >> telling me to use a fingerprint scanner when you could just give us your full first name. >> Understand what the problem was. I'm sorry. I'm a little overwhelmed right now. I'm being put in handcuffs for something I had nothing to No, I did not have no fault at. >> All right, Cassie, let's take a look here. Uh, you've been arrested for >> Yes, I know how many times forgery. >> I know how I know how many times I've been arrested, sir. I know how many times I've been arrested, but that doesn't mean that I'm that doesn't mean that somebody didn't give me fake money when I sold my TV to them on Offer Up today. I'm sorry. I'm hard up on a little bit of cash and I had to sell my TV so my kids could eat. >> I'm sorry, >> forgery. Uh, you've unlawfully issued checks before. >> Are you still using drugs? >> No, sir. I'm actually clean and sober. I just got out of detox. >> I'm very glad to hear that, >> which is why I'm a little upset right now. My c my cousin and I are in a hotel room with my kids because I don't live at my other house anymore because he's still on drugs. Identity theft. >> No, I know, sir. I know my record. >> Things weren't looking good for her. It was becoming clear that her tears were all for show with her long history of committing fraud. She should be so used to getting arrested by now. She had plenty of excuses lined up, but it was hard to believe anything coming from a known fraudster. >> So, my bag, my purse, >> yeah, >> is not my purse. It's my cousin's purse. She left it in the truck, >> and I didn't trust the people in the truck, so I brought it with me. That's my cousin Lily's bag. >> Holy. Okay. So, if I open those forgery reports and I read them, am I going to see a whole bunch of stuff about uh licenses? >> No, that I don't license. That's my cousin's purse. >> One, two, three, four, five, six different licenses in there. >> That is my cousin's purse. I don't know. >> No, dude. I did say grab the truck because I didn't trust the people in the truck. That's Lily's purse. I promise you. >> Cassandra literally had an excuse for everything. However, if it were her cousin Lily's purse, she would have to explain why her ID was buried in alongside other stolen credit cards and licenses. >> Apparently, your cousin stole your ID. >> It's right here. >> Your ID is right here. >> Give it Give it here. Give it here. Dad, can I be honest with you? Let >> Please, please be honest with me. >> My daughter needed a camera for her school project done this weekend. I found that $100 bill and I came up here and I tried to b the camera. I really didn't know it was fake. I swear to you. That is my cousin's bag. Lillian's bag, not mine. >> Why does Lillian have your license? >> I don't know. I swear to God, I did report it. I did report it. I thought it was lost. I didn't know she had it. I swear. I'm being honest with you. I am being honest with you. >> It was an absurdly outlandish story. There was no way that the woman who had been in trouble dozens of times with law enforcement for fraud and forgery didn't know she was passing a counterfeit $100 bill. To make matters worse, stolen IDs weren't the only thing Cassandra was in possession of. >> Holy, she she's been red, right? Yeah, she's >> I forgot it's >> Tell your husband that you reported your ID and all that missing. >> Yeah, he knows my ID's missing. >> You didn't tell me that. >> Yes, he does. He knows my ID's missing. >> So, why would he lie to me about that? >> I have no idea. He I just lost it, sir. >> I I believe that you probably just lost it. But why would you not say that? Why would he say that? You haven't reported it. >> That's not true. He knows I've reported it online. >> I just asked him. I literally just got off the phone and asked him like, "Yeah, do you know your wife's ID is nice?" He's like, "No." >> Is he just call him back right now? >> No, I'm not calling him back. >> Sir, can you call Garrett, the guy that drives the truck? He can tell you about that bag in there. >> And if she left it in there, that's not the issue. >> But if she takes The issue is then I don't have to get in trouble for her stuff. The issue is you're in possession of it. There's >> there's no I never I never said that. I said I could help you. I never said that. It's all going to go on her. >> Can I talk? >> By this point, the officers were wasting their breath. She just kept giving one lie after another. And in the end, when she couldn't talk her way out of it, she tried a different approach. >> Cassandra, we're either going to pull you out of this car or you're going to walk out. That's fine. We can get her in obstruction. She just does not want to let her. You can search her while she's on the ground. That's fine. Let's just search her. She's literally just checked up on. So, why don't I just search her real quick and then make sure she didn't leave me a treat. >> All right. Well, oh, and her eyes are open now. >> She's blanking. She's fine. >> Go. Can you get your feet under? >> Uh, we're going over here. Okay. Just uh >> let me know the outcome, Helms, and uh we'll go from there with charging documents. >> Cassandra was charged with forgery, unlawful possession of another's identification, drug possession, and obstructing justice. On October 14th, 2024, police officers responded to a Home Depot after staff reported witnessing a suspect shoplifting. However, when the officers arrived on the scene and approached the suspect, he attempted to play dumb. >> Talk to us. All right. >> What did I do? >> For what? What did I do? >> Sir, I didn't do anything. >> Okay. All right. Just relax. >> Ask what I did. Relax. All right. Yes, sir. >> You're not under arrest. Just continue. Yes, sir. >> That's what I do wrong now. >> The employees here are identifying you as a as a shop. So, >> okay. >> We're going to talk about it. >> We'll figure it out. >> We'll figure it out. No big deal. All right. >> We'll figure everything out. >> Explain it to you the reason why you're being detained. >> All right. We'll figure it out. >> That's cool. You have any weapons on anybody? >> All right, come on over here. Go back. >> Yeah, I don't got some time not doing nothing. I didn't do anything. If you didn't do anything, you don't have to worry about it. >> According to reports, the suspect had wheeled out a cart full of stolen merchandise, then passed it off to an acquaintance who drove away. The suspect then re-entered the store with the intention of stealing more goods when he was stopped by the police. >> No, he was killed. >> So, who who was actually in possession of this? >> The guy who just had the handcuff. >> This guy right here. >> Yes. The other white guy had wire. >> Did he miss any points us out with this? >> He was trying to go out the fire exit with the guy with wire. >> Did he touch the fire exit? >> I don't know. I got up here when I went up here to turn the alarm off. He was in a Christmas trees with that shot. He saw me go over to the door to turn it off. He walked and left 47. He walks out, he comes back in and he just put that together and he won't find me with that cart right there. I didn't say a word to me like that's my car. Nothing. >> Do you guys have video together with the other guy? I can have an >> LP. >> The suspect continued to proclaim his innocence. But there was just one problem. He had stolen from Home Depot, which is loaded with surveillance cameras both inside and out. If the officers were lucky, they would get a good read on his accompllic's license plate as well. Well, listen. If you don't steal anything, you don't got to worry about they're just naming you as a suspect. >> How they naming me and I'm in the store. How did I steal something? >> Pointing you out. >> How did I steal something? If I'm in the store, >> well, we're trying to figure it out. >> Please tell me. >> I need all your information. Gather everything. Make sure you're good. You're innocent. You're innocent. >> I am innocent. Like, how am I in the store and I stole something? >> He doesn't know the social. >> I don't know off the top of my head. >> How old are you? >> I'm 38. >> You're 38. You don't know your social app for a job. >> Listen, man. Do what you got to do. Yo, like I didn't do nothing wrong. I didn't I didn't get nothing wrong. >> You want to play that game? I'll play that game. >> I don't know my social. >> You better start thinking about it. But >> I'm not going to start thinking about it cuz I don't know my social. >> I don't get it. >> I don't know. >> I don't know. Like, damn. Y like I didn't do anything wrong. Y'all sitting here messing with me. Like I didn't do wrong. >> Y'all sitting here saying I shoplifted, right? How did I shoplifted them in the store? The suspect was seen stealing with a man whom he claimed was his boss, but unfortunately he drove away before police could question him. Officers continued to question the suspect while other officers retrieve the security footage. >> You guys got all the information you need, you know. All right. I ain't do nothing wrong. Nothing wrong. >> All right. You're just telling me the story and trying to clarify and help you out. >> Clarify nothing. We have to. >> No, you don't. We have to. >> All you got to do is look at them. All you got to do is look at them cameras and see I did not steal anything. I'm in the store, genius. >> How do I know that? >> Cuz I'm right here. >> Put stuff in the pockets. You don't know. >> So, check my pockets, dummy. >> Like, what the stuff in your pockets? >> How stupid do you know? >> You guys got a plan. You might have a plan. >> What does that mean, you guys? What does that mean? >> Plan or something? >> What does that mean? >> Where's your boss? >> None of your boss. >> None of your business, >> right? Scoping stuff out. stuff. >> The only stupid person there was the suspect who thought it was a good idea to steal a cart full of merchandise, then returned to the store to steal more. If he weren't so greedy, perhaps he and his accomplice would have gotten away with it. >> How's your name? Jeffrey. >> Name actually Jeffrey. >> Could be. >> Could be. Right. >> I didn't do nothing wrong. >> No. So why'd you give us the wrong name? >> Cuz I didn't do nothing wrong. >> Well, you're under arrested >> for what? >> Henry. >> Henry. I didn't wrong. >> Stand up. Come on. >> I didn't do nothing wrong. Stand up. >> Either way. Are >> you serious right now, brother? >> I didn't. >> You're going either way. >> Okay, that's cool. >> He gave us the wrong name. So that's first off. >> That was second off. >> That was wrong. >> So that's like a baby. >> Yeah. What did I do though? >> I didn't shop. I didn't steal. You thought I stole something, but I didn't. >> I didn't. No, I didn't. No, I did not. Did you see me walk out the door with it? >> Huh? Did you see me walk out the door with it? >> Did you see me walk out the door with it? Huh? Yeah. Walk out the door. Contrary to what he thought, he didn't have to walk out the door with the stolen merchandise. He passed all points of sale. Sick and tired of playing his games, the officers loaded him into the back of the squad car and transported him to the police station for further processing. >> You kick one of us, you're getting aggravated assault. >> I'm telling you right now. Let's go. Why don't you be a man? car, >> bro. I didn't do nothing. >> Anything else in your pockets? [Music] >> Let's go. Come on. >> Come on. Get in. >> Stop pulling me. >> Get in. Come on. Stop pulling me. Yo, I don't give a >> Yeah. >> The suspect was arrested for failing to provide his identification. He was subsequently charged with shoplifting once police were able to confirm the theft via security footage. On February 2nd, 2025, Ohio police officers were dispatched to Walmart after employees observed a woman improperly scanning items at the selfch checkckout. When officers arrived on the scene, they caught up with the suspect in the loss prevention office. >> Hey, >> hey, what you got? >> So, um, I was observing her. >> Okay. >> Um, I registered for eight, I'm sorry, nine. >> Okay. >> I didn't see her. of scanning the shoes and then after we went to the shopping cart, we find other items sitting on the table. >> So that's stuff that she didn't scan. >> Yeah. Okay. I'm sorry. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> She gave us the name of Jessica >> and uh we already told her that you know more than $25 we want to put the pass and she already >> very good. And here's the trained receipt for >> Just set it down. I'll grab it. Thank you. >> They were not paper. >> The officer identified the suspect and asked her to explain herself as according to the surveillance footage and receipts, she failed to scan some of her items at the selfch checkout. >> So, why did we skip scan stuff today? What happened? >> That it was an accident. I've been on hurry mostly and I thought the EDT would take the, you know, the shoes cuz I had the money and then I thought it scanned and you popped up with the round thing, you know. So I thought it went on there but it didn't. >> Okay. >> Like if I even thought it didn't, I would I would have stopped so easily. Like I I >> Okay. All right. >> I'm just going to read you your rights real quick before I ask you any more questions. Okay. So you told me about the shoes, but what happened with the rest of the stuff sitting over there? I I I thought I scanned the chips and like you can see me in the video going with the little arm thingy to scan it. >> Mhm. >> Like I didn't even know if I would have known I would have I would have freaking stopped, you know? Like she she came out and I stopped right away because I thought it didn't scan and like it's just been a rough week. Like my grandma doesn't I'm so sorry. Wait. Okay. >> Everyone faces tough times, but that doesn't justify stealing. When officers asked if she'd ever been caught shoplifting before, she immediately denied it. But the truth was they already had the proof that she had. >> Have you ever been caught shoplifting? >> No. Or no. >> Yeah. >> Or or >> look look I was drinking back then and a lot back then. Okay. But you went to Ritmond and ask IG and I don't like Yeah, I had an accident, but I really did. Thank God I paid for all that. Like even my dog ticket, you can ask the judge and everything. I even said I was in the wrong. We're not We're not ask What's in your pocket? >> Don't touch it. What's it? Don't touch it. What is it? >> Stand up for me. No, don't touch it. Don't touch it. Do not touch it. Get your damn hands out of your pocket. >> Hey. Hey. Hey. >> Stand up for me now. I'm sorry. Can I get it? >> No, you're not actually. >> Okay. You want to get a resisting? What are you doing? >> It's okay. >> Whatever she had in her pocket, she was willing to wrestle around with the officers to stop them from getting it. It was a dumb move and it wasn't going to pay off. And after a brief scuffle, the officers got control of her. >> Well, you hurt me with whatever. >> What do you mean? You guys were the ones who jumped on top of me and I'm going to see you guys. >> It's still our hand. >> Where is he? Ain't nothing in my hand. But you are trying to me. >> That's me. >> Yeah. No, I'm bleeding because you guys hurt me with whatever you guys had. >> Open your hand. Open your hand. Damn. >> I'm bleeding if you guys get off of me. >> Open your hand. You're going to get the laws. >> Open your hand. >> Get off of me. >> Open your hand. Why did you guys hurt me? >> She dropped it. It's in between your legs. >> That's okay. I'm going to call the laws when I get to You're going to go to jail. >> Stand up. >> Go to jail. >> Yeah. Sorry. >> Whoa. Get off of me. People can stand up. You got to get off of it. >> Let's go. >> We're going up. >> So you guys get my back. >> We'll be back. We'll be back in. Let's go. >> Let's go. The suspect was playing a dumb game and was lucky she didn't get tased. Whatever she was hiding, she had cut one of the officers with it. Next, the officers escorted her to their cruiser out front where she was searched. >> Yeah, I don't have nothing. >> Nobody just shut your mouth. >> Wait, why cameras? I turned on. >> Yes. >> Good. >> And they also see all this blood on my hand from you cutting me. >> You cut me with whatever. >> You cut me with a pipe. She's got a broken pipe in her. >> I don't have nothing broken on me. >> Cracked pipe. Whatever. God, I just heard you guys hurt me. Oh my god. >> I'm trying to >> car. >> What the >> Look, I'm Look, look. I need to clean the jack off, please. >> I got to check this. >> You all right? >> I'm cut pretty bad. >> Sliced me open. >> My hand was in her hand when she crushed it. >> There's broken broken pipe all over the ground here, too. With the suspect secured in the back of the cruiser, an ambulance arrived on the scene to treat their injuries. There's no doubt that getting cut by a crack pipe is going to ruin anyone's day. But on the bright side, at least he wasn't pricricked by a needle. >> So, this uh use of force, she got she crushed the pipe in her hand. >> She's hurt. She's cut somewhere. I don't know where. >> She's like >> I also got cut pretty bad on my thumb, >> but it's really for her right now, >> okay? >> Cuz she's got to go to jail. >> All right. Thank you guys. She can walk in everything fine. I just We had to use force arm here. We had to get her. She crushed the glass pipe in her hand. >> How the out of cuffs again. >> She's freaking out a little bit. Yeah, I cut my >> She's out of again. Hold on. >> Yeah, we'll let us in a little bit. >> Just I'm leaving. I'm not opening it until someone else is up here >> cuz I can't. Yeah, I do. I get it. I know. And she's out of her cuffs again. She's >> She's Her hands are like wet and bloody. >> She slipped her cuffs twice. She slipped them. This is the second. >> After the paramedics treated the officer's injury, they turned their focus to resecuring the suspect. Whatever she needed her hands free for was anyone's guess. But regardless, the officers needed her in cuffs before they could transport her to the police station. You guys want to do this? >> Step out. >> So, can we get away? Cuz he already grabbed me once. >> You need to listen the first time. >> Yeah. >> Put your hand behind your back as soon as you step out. Yeah, but he's grabbing me. I am focus. Focus on me. Focus on me. >> I have to hold on to you. You're my responsibility. Yes, I do. Do you want to sit in the first? >> The woman, Jessica, was escorted into the ambulance where she received medical treatment for cuts and scrapes. Afterwards, she was placed back in the squad car and transported to the police station for further processing. Look, look. I'm sorry, but my my fingers really are going numb. >> What? >> My fingers really are going numb. >> Okay, you slipped the cups two times. >> Look, look, that and that's because >> we only got about a 15-minute drive. Please. >> Look. Look. I know. Look. Can you guys just undo >> We're going to get you now. Come on out. >> We're going to help you. >> Jessica was charged with tampering with evidence, obstructing official business, and aggravated possession of drugs. In court, she pleaded guilty to all charges. On May 25th, 2024, police officers were dispatched to a Target following reports of a shoplifting in progress. When officers arrived on the scene, they waited at the entrance until the suspect passed all points of sale. >> Hey, huh? You're going to get tased. You're going to get tased. >> You're going to get tased. >> I will tase you if you don't stop. >> Stop. I just handed you my receipt. >> The suspect, Justin, may have indeed handed the officers a receipt, but no innocent person on the face of earth would react that way when approached by cops. If he didn't put his hands behind his back soon, he wasn't going to like the consequences. And her body camera, look, her body camera is not even on. >> Get down. >> Yep. Stay there. >> Stay right there. >> Stay right there. Relax. I can see your back. >> So simple. >> Let me get a bigger Let me get a bigger cross. >> It was hard to imagine what Justin was thinking running from the officers like that. Not only was he on the bigger side, but he was completely surrounded by multiple officers. But because of that, he found out the hard way what happens when you resist arrest. >> Relax. >> Relax. When I get again, >> I don't want to be in your investigation, but I think you dropped this. Is your body is this? >> Why are you recording? Get the [ __ ] out of your car. >> Who you talking? Get a [ __ ] life. >> Yo, I don't want you to cuss me out. So, here's your this your body camera. >> I'm talking about that. Stop recording. Like, get a life. >> Thank you so much. [Music] camera. >> It It was mine. That's fell. >> The officer's harsh words quickly dispersed the crowd of onlookers that had gathered with their phones out. With Justin on the ground, and secured in cuffs, the officers searched him, lifted him onto his feet, and escorted him to a nearby cruiser. All right, bring your feet up. >> Bring your feet up. medic is coming. >> Huh? >> Why? You got your pants up. >> What happened? >> Okay. Do you have uh you have anything on you? >> You have no ID. >> Okay. >> All right. Can you provide your first and last name? >> By this point, Justin had calmed down and was even joking around with the officers. Although he had been caught and tased aggressively, he didn't seem to harbor any resentment toward them for doing their job. Well, sir, I'm Lieutenant Bet. >> Okay. Uh, anytime my officers have a use of force, sir, >> as in this case when she was forced to deploy the taser and strike you in the back. I have to come interview you. Uh, do you have any other injuries that I need to diagn? Nothing. Just the marks in your back. >> Yes, sir. I was confused. I apologize. >> You were confused for that. Is that why you ran away? Absolutely. Never disrespect, especially West Palm Beach. >> Okay. All right, sir. We're just going to take photos of your back and where the ponds are, and that's it. Okay. At this time, I'll end the interview. >> After EMS treated him, the officers were given the green light to transport Justin to jail. And with that, the only thing left to do was escort him to a nearby cruiser and transport him to the police station for further processing. All right. >> Trouble 2006. search. >> I think he's here. Unfortunate. Justin was arrested and charged with retail theft and resisting arrest with violence. His attempt to escape the consequences of his actions was stupid and brazen, but it wasn't nearly as pathetic as what our next suspect did. On January 9th, 2024, police officers were dispatched to a Walgreens after employees reported a shoplifter. While in route to the location, officers received a call from dispatch informing them that the suspect had walked across the street to a nearby Circle K. >> Come here. Stop. Stop. Stop. I'm talking to you. Stop. Come here. Come here. I'm not I'm not I'm not playing stupid. All right. Can you read lips? Look at me. Look at me. Look at me. Can you read lips? I'm I'm I'm not stupid. Can you read lips? Okay. I'm Officer Bird with the Sanford Police Department. I'm stepping out with you because someone says you're shoplifting. You match the description of the subject, right? So that's why I'm stepping out with you. I know you know I don't understand silent reading. I know you know. All right. It had to be the most pathetic attempt at American Sign Language ever recorded on camera. Not wanting to risk a lawsuit, the officer asked the suspect, Glenda, to accompany him to the back of his vehicle and communicate via writing. However, she suddenly had a change of heart and remembered how to speak. >> So, you can read lips, right? Okay. Do you understand why I'm here? Why am I here? >> So, someone says So, someone says someone traffic and you match the description. So that's why I'm stopping you, right? >> I'm stopping you for that. So we're going to do our investigation. Me and you're going to hang up. >> That's all right. That's not why I'm here. We can find your resources afterward. All right. I'm going to read you something. Can you read my lips still? Good. >> So can you hear for just fine? >> Yeah. So why why are you No, you can't go. So why are you pretending to be be dead? >> Because I have to do >> I just want to let you know you're you're pretty bad at signing. All right. >> I'm not here to bother you. I'm I'm here conducting an investigation. If you're not who I'm looking for, then you're fine. >> Listen, appreciate it. I'm a little chunky, but I'm fat. >> Before continuing to question Glenda, the officer read her her rights. However, she invoked her right to remain silent, at least for the time being. The more she spoke, the more it sounded like she was under the influence of drugs or alcohol, making it difficult for the officers to understand her. >> She she's right. She's still talking. >> I'll hang on to her if you would like to do that. whoever someone bless me with along the way or someone that >> do we want to talk to this cuz you're talking to me but >> I want to see what >> you can't don't even start come back come back close your mouth control you're actually you're making me a little nervous right to search. You don't have a right to search. >> I'm sorry. >> You don't have the right to search. >> I don't I don't want to search. >> If the officer didn't want to search her before, he was going to want to search her at that point. Judging from her behavior, in addition to stolen merchandise, there was a good chance she had narcotics in her possession. >> So, I'm going to detain you at this moment. >> That's wrong. >> So, you're making me nervous. Keep walking away. >> We're going to drop the bags. Listen to me. Stop talking. We're going to drop the bags and I'm going to put you in handcuffs. Right. First, we're going to stop. >> I I pro. It's going to happen. >> First, we're going to stop. >> Put the bags down. >> Put the bags down. >> Put them down now. Put them Do I need to get someone else here? >> Put the bags down. makeup. Oh, no. >> You're making me nervous. I'm not here. Put your hands on your back. Put your hands behind your back. [Music] >> Okay. So, you're still detained >> and you invoked your right to silence. >> So, we're not going to talk about the investigation, right? Baby, you shouldn't be going there. I knock something out of it. It looks like it's a knife. Check out. >> It was nice in my hand. Wow. >> The officer placed Glenda in the back of his cruiser and radioed for backup. But before he could search her belongings, he learned that she had already been trespassed from the Walgreens, where she was accused of shoplifting just the night before. the Halloween. Now we just need >> um two talk to the clerk in this circle K and see if she took anything out of here. >> This dog looks like it's from this circle K >> because out of here because when I rolled up she was coming out of here to her >> because the same one. >> How's that even possible? We just were over here last night. >> Go ahead. After the officers finished searching her bag, a manager from Walgreens pulled up alongside them and confirmed that Glenda had already been trespassed from the property and confirmed that all the items in her possession had been stolen from Walgreens. >> He said that that's all of her. So that's two counts of trespassing plus the theft plus the war. I mean, was she previously trespassing? >> She's trespassing over just checking the system, but he said that she' been trespassed already um >> multiple times. She she comes every morning and steals. >> Yeah. >> So, just verify that. I know for a fact she trespass in this location. Um, what do they call >> kind of certain take like a couple items, but I'm pretty sure everything in there is is >> Yeah, we just need to get them to verify the barcodes and stuff in the end. >> Shortly after, a female officer arrived on the scene to search Glenda. They were suspicious they might find drug paraphernalia on her as just the night before she was caught with a glass pipe. However, Glenda denied that prior incident. Yeah. She'll go figure out. >> You came out for her yesterday, too. >> Dad, well, he said that whoever it was, just passes. I don't know. >> But he said that they they were with her last night. She >> can't fight. >> Thank you. I appreciate [Music] Who we meet with? This young lady still. >> No, they took it down to those houses in Midway and sell it and then they resell it. >> Yeah. This is all they do. >> With a tally of the stolen merchandise in hand, the officers return to their cruisers and prepare to transport Glenda to the police station for further processing. And let's just say that she was just as delusional as before. But at least she's not mute or deaf anymore. >> Got them, boys. Got them, boys. Off we are recording. We ain't the already. Thank you. Good night. Good night. Oh, going to do this again in case I was a lawyer, right? from BP, right? Started at BP. I walked out of the store with a bag. Pay attention to my [ __ ] that was good. Okay, bag of Walgreens or whatever whoever said I stole something. Okay, whatever. They can say that my fall out of my bed. Nobody had proper conversation. My bad. Okay, [ __ ] Pay attention. You're not evil. We'll stop right there. One day, but tonight I hope y people in the world like so haters. >> It's raining. My baby, >> we'll take your night inside. Yeah. your jacket back on you real quick. >> Oh, my baby. >> No, it doesn't matter how many. >> Okay. >> Glenda was charged with resisting arrest without violence and felony theft. She was fined and sentenced to 250 days in jail with 94 days served. On May 21st, 2024, police officers were dispatched to Walmart after two young women were caught shoplifting. When the officers arrived on the scene, they were greeted by Walmart loss prevention staff who were holding the girls outside. >> You're shoplifterss. [Music] >> How old are you? How old are you? Don't answer my questions. You're going to have handcuffs. You pick. >> Can I just go on? >> He's asking what? >> I'm asking you a question. >> How old are you? >> This is going to be quick. >> Okay. You're making this not quick. That's the thing. >> You didn't tell me anything. >> Well, they got it ran down. >> Okay. I'm I'm asking you as a human, as a person to person, if you want to get an attitude, you're not going to win this. I promise you. >> You're not going to raise your voice >> because you refuse to answer any questions. So, if you want in cuffs, we can do that. We can make it super easy. >> Either way, I have paperwork to do. So, if you want to go home, you can tell your name. If not, you can go to jail. >> The girls were absolutely giving the officer attitude in the form of passive aggression. As the officer said, they could continue to play games, but they wouldn't like the outcome if they didn't start answering his questions. >> I'm just waiting for my right to be on. >> Okay. Well, you're not going anywhere. Right now, you're being detained. You're not free to go. >> How are we detained? >> Because they're accusing you of shoplifting. So, until we figure out what's going on, you are not free to go. >> No. >> It doesn't matter. You still committed a crime. So, again, you're not free to go. So, do you have ID on you? >> ID. >> Okay. So, how old are you? >> If we give you everything, we could go. >> How old are you? >> We can give you information. We can go. >> No. >> I get paid by the hour. I'm here till 3, so I don't really care. >> Don't be mad you got caught. >> No one mad. No one mad. >> I don't know. No one mad. >> Sorry. Are you refusing to identify yourself? Yeah. game yet. >> They don't know if it's true or not. So, how old are you? >> I thought we were supposed to see a video. >> You're not supposed to say anything. >> Well, that's what they said. >> Oh, yeah. Now you don't know. >> Why are you trying to act? >> We got the deputies here now. They're in charge. >> They're in charge now. This is their building. >> It was becoming clear that the girls had absolutely zero respect for law enforcement and were not bothered by the potential consequences of their actions. And although they continued to refuse to identify themselves, the officers could only tolerate their brattiness for so long. >> Why are you making this hard as it has to be? >> Cuz this is so ugly. We're already about to catch the buzz. >> Okay. Well, now you're going to miss the buzz. Sorry. >> Oh, definitely. We've been We're going to miss the buzz. >> Okay. Sorry. Don't Don't commit a crime. >> Too late. >> I know it's too late. >> I didn't. >> That's why I'm here. >> I didn't say too late. >> You just did. >> No, I said true. >> Okay. So, how are you? >> At this point, you just got to figure out where they are to figure out where they're going. >> Yeah, >> now, >> huh? >> Stand now. >> Oh, they're Yeah, they're not free to go. I've already pulled them out. >> You stand up. >> Stand up. Stand up. No. Stand up. Take your bag off. >> What you mean? >> Stand up. Take your bag off. >> What do we do? >> Stand up. Take your bag off or I'm gonna make you stand up. >> You can do the same. >> Okay. But can we look at that and see? >> No. You have no right to look at that. >> You've been telling us this whole time. >> Okay. We're past that point. You refused to come inside until I got here. You refused to give me the information that I need to complete my report. >> No, it's too late. Right now, you're going to stand up and you're going to we're going to put you in cuffs. We're going to do it this way. >> Like ghost play. >> Like the saying goes, play stupid games win stupid prizes. The girls could continue refusing to identify themselves all they wanted, but they were going to have to do so from behind bars. >> Tighten up. >> I tighten up or I'll charge you another charge. I'll push you straight into this. >> If you're charging me with a line, >> oh, I'm a dumb. >> Are you going to give us your names? >> Hello. How many more times I need to ask? >> Go ahead. >> All right. She's 18. >> Yeah. >> What about the other one? >> She might not have a name file. I can't find it at the moment, but I found the 18-year-olds. >> There was no doubt that the girls looked like minors, but it turned out they were both adults and would be charged as such. Perhaps now they wished they had cooperated and treated the officers with respect after all. >> Actually, she's about 19. 18. Yeah, you're good. Old adults. >> Have a seat. [Music] >> What's up? >> That What else is in there? >> Oh, that. >> Here's this. This was behind her. I was in her waistband. >> That's my water. >> Can you make sure that he's right there? >> Yeah, we'll get it to him. >> Oh, no. No, no. You don't know who it is. He's right there. >> Okay. When we walk out, you can tell me and then I'll come back. >> This Can you place him in there? >> In a second. I'm already in a second. [Music] Just stand there. We'll take care. We'll talk to you in a second. walk over to the bar to make sure that they got everything. >> Appreciate it. >> With the total value of the items they stole adding up to $51,34, both women were charged with petite theft. Retail theft has become an epidemic these days, and law enforcement along with store security are intensifying their efforts to hold thieves accountable. That's why customers at Walmart, Target, and other stores who think they're above the law should think twice before they try their luck at stealing.
