We black people. >> Why would she leave you? Where is your mom? I mean, she went through a was going over 100 mph through red light. I would never left my kid like that. >> You're going to get the on the ground now. >> Get on the ground. Get on your stomach. Today, we'll witness six dramatic arrests filled with unexpected twists and endings. >> Have you ever wondered how far a mother's instinct goes when police lights start flashing? >> Um, I don't have nothing to do to do with that. >> Ryan left us like the day gets better. On January 22nd, 2025, officers in Washington, Illinois, responded to a Walmart after several women were accused of stealing merchandise. As police arrived, Malikica Higgins, the group's driver, sped across a field, abandoning her friends and children behind. >> All right. Okay. That's it right there. >> Okay, I see it. >> Okay. Edward King 74393. It's heading north in the field. They said there's still one in the store. Washington 2. I terminated. They went through the red light at college and 24 speed over 100. It's pretty crazy. Never had anyone go through the field and ditch me like that before. Let's go see what we got going on here. Where's the girl at? >> About to go shot. Sh. What? You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can or will be used against you in a court of law. >> Okay. >> You have the right. You move again. I'm going to put you on the ground. Do you understand your right? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> Can I Can I >> hold on? So So, so why am I here today? >> Um I don't have nothing to do to do with that. I'm telling you, I don't have nothing to do with that. You looking for some people, but I literally was with some people, but I don't have nothing to do with that. Somebody just gave me Somebody just gave me $10. That's what's in my hand. That's what I'm trying to tell you. >> Can you put it in my pocket? Okay. So, you don't have anything to do with what? What are you talking about? You came with some people. Where did they go? >> I don't know where they went, but I they left me. Like, I came in here to use the phone and that's my $10. Like, you can clearly ask them. I don't know where they >> You have an ID or anything on you? >> My ID is not with me, but I'm 22 years old. I don't have no reason to lie to you and nothing. >> Well, it go a lot better for you if you don't lie to me. >> I'm not lying. I'm not lying to you. I'm literally telling you the truth. Somebody gave me $10. Like literally I came in here and asked him cuz I'm not from out here. You feel what I'm saying? I came out here with some people. Literally I don't like I'm from Poria. >> They don't have Walmart and Menards in Poria. Why'd you choose these ones? >> I was with some people. They I wasn't driving. You feel what I'm saying? I'm not going to lie to you because I'm telling you the truth. You feel what I'm saying? If anything, they need to come. They need to come too. Like I'm not going to go to jail for nobody. You feel >> Let's back up a little bit. You were with some people. >> Yes. They left me. Who were you with? >> I was with my c I was with my cousin. >> Who's that? >> One of them name is um Kamaya. The other one named Bri. You feel what I'm saying? And I'm not going to be You feel me? I'm not going to go to jail. No. >> When did you guys come over to Walmart for >> They wanted to come to Walmart. I didn't KNOW WHAT THAT LIKE I'M NOT GOING TO LIE TO YOU. I DIDN'T know what they was doing. You feel what I'm saying? They didn't tell me what they >> My bad. They didn't tell me. No, cuz I'm kind of nervous. You feel me? They didn't tell me what they was doing. You feel me? I literally was scared. so high. >> It's all on video that I'm going to look at. >> Back at Walmart, the remaining suspects began offering explanations. >> Is there anything on you that's going to stick me, poke me, hurt me? Any weapons, anything like that? >> No. Can you call and make sure that goes with you? >> I just got to check and make sure you don't have anything on my Can you put my money in my pocket? >> I don't pocket. >> No, not that one. I'm talking about the one on my pants. >> Those are for a fulls size white pan. >> No, the one I was chasing went through the field and took Let's go. It's like Dukes of Hazard. >> Yeah. I don't have nothing. >> They ditched her. They left her here. >> Excuse me. >> Yes, ma'am. >> Okay. I'll make sure my um my lil and my um >> Yeah, I'll make sure we get all >> and my money with me. >> We'll put it in there. >> You making sure I don't have no wants. >> I'm just making sure you and that you are who you say you are. >> I am. >> Whose car is it? >> It's um Kamaya's mom. Um, if I don't have any words or anything there, um, can y'all take me back to Poria? >> We shall see. Okay. >> Because I don't have no way. Like, they literally love me. >> What's that? >> That's not mine. It's in your bag. >> They got that from another store, though. The girl the car who carers her. >> But where was this stolen from? >> She got that from Walmart and um Poria University. >> Kamaya Gibbons. Why do you have Kamaya stuff in your bag? >> Because that bag is not mine. That bag is Kamaya if you understand what I'm saying. That bag money goes in my money cuz that bag's not that bad. >> We'll make sure everything gets Let's walk out here to the car. We're going to sound two people for me, please. Why you buckling me? Huh? >> Cuz we're going over to Walmart. You got to wear your seat belt. >> But these Can you loosen this? Cuz we going over >> loosen them. Loosen them. How? >> Like they a little bit too tight. >> Turn and let me feel them here. >> I can get a whole finger in both of them. If anything, they should probably be a little bit tighter. I won't I won't put your seatelt on so you can lean forward. Okay. Since we're just going across the parking lot. All right. Let's see. I'm not I'm not going to go to jail for nobody because I'm not the >> Seria Gibbons claims she had paid through the Affirm app, but her phone conveniently died during checkout. >> I'm not sure who they all the parties are that were involved or whatever. >> So, right now, just with those two, this is all push out. >> I I thought my I came with a firm. I thought it went through. I didn't know it didn't go through until he told me a door. That's why I gave him a cart back cuz I thought it went through. >> YOU YOU I BRO LIKE ON SOME REAL LIFE [ __ ] I'M BEING RESPECTFUL, G. ALL THAT SHAKING YOUR HEAD. I'M NOT LIKE D I SAID MY CARD DIDN'T GO THROUGH. IF I WOULD HAVE PUSHED THAT CARD OUT, I SHOULD HAVE PUSHED IT OUT. THAT'S WHAT I'M SAYING. OH, SHE BEING MAD. THIS is f. >> I TOLD YOU [laughter] MY STOP FOR ONE SECOND. >> WAIT, TRY LET US TALK AND WE NO, I'LL TALK in a minute. You get a chance in a minute. I'm going ask you several times and I'm going ask you to be quiet. >> It's suspicious. >> I told you I understood THAT WE BLACK. IT'S GOING TO BE SUSPICIOUS. WE BLACK PEOPLE. They go there. WE STEAL IT. >> Let me know if I can finish because right now we're not getting anywhere. >> It's suspicious when I have two people as cold as it is running and walking fast and going across the parking lot. When I see somebody drop a bag, it's suspicious. Okay. So, >> yeah, because Ryan left us like, >> "You let me finish. Are you going to let me finish?" So, I stop. If everything checks out, we're good, right? You say you didn't steal. You say you didn't do anything. You guys didn't do it. We got cameras. We'll check it. If they got it wrong, guess what? You get to go. But if that's not the case, then we're doing something else. You're not helping yourself by sitting there yelling and talking to somebody that has nothing to do with your actions. If you carry it out, >> she's shaking her head. She shaking her head for like a firm. I know y'all probably don't. Y'all probably don't use it because y'all probably got >> Don't use what >> affirm like you know when you pay for your item. Affirm. They pay for your whole cart then you pay it off over time on the app. That's what I did. And I skin my phone thing. My phone went dead after I scan it. So, I pushed my card off thinking THAT IT WENT THROUGH. I DIDN'T TURN AROUND to check FOR NO RECEIPT. I don't need no receipt when I spend my money. So, I just let it go through and I walked out. When he was LIKE, "WHERE YOUR RECEIPT AT?" I don't got no receipt. He said, "GIVE ME THE CARD." I GAVE HIM the card. >> But you have a receipt on your phone, correct? >> Yes. But my phone is dead. Like, it's not turning on. My phone went dead as soon as I did the firm thing. >> You got ID on your phone? >> No, I don't I don't got no ID on. >> How old are you? >> I'm 19. >> How old are you? >> 21. And forgive me if I'm asking a silly question, but we're talking like biological mom, right? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> He talking about [laughter] we we'll look alike to you or something. >> You don't we talking about biological mom or something? >> Cuz I don't like that. But cuz I'm in here trying to explain to y'all that if if it ain't go through, I understand that. But I paid with my affirm and my phone right after that. When he asked me did I have a receipt at the door, I said I don't have a receipt. He said get a card up. I gave it to him. No hesitation. IF I WAS STEALING, I would have overdid myself. Defending myself would have did the most. I gave him the carp because I paid with my infirm. I seen the Bronco thing. If you play the camera, you see me. Look, look at the camera. That's me. What you see? [ __ ] my head. >> You act like the register and then you walked away. >> No, I WAS PLAYING WITH MY FIRM. YOU SEE MY PHONE NOW. G, STOP PLAYING with me. So dead ass. Ain't no acting like I paid with my firm account and my went dead. And I did not know it didn't go through until you stop me. That's racist ass. He racist as hell. He racist. You'll see me. Look, you'll see me clicking on stuff. He racist. >> He might just be jaded. >> Talking about some jaded meaning a lot of negative stuff. And so >> I understand that, but don't take that out of me cuz I can steal nothing. I show I sold YOU MY BAG. MY BAG IS EMPTY. >> NO. >> With the with the firm thing. This is an app, right? >> I could go I COULD GO SHOW YOU ON A BAR. I COULD GO CHECK OUT WHAT YOU RIGHT NOW AND SHOW YOU WHAT I DID. UNDERSTOOD. What happens if you I mean because I don't know >> like it's a app like you pay like you pay for like a car the app pays for your car as soon as you buy it but you have to pay them back a certain amount every two weeks or even every couple days over the time >> just like a credit card but it's an app. >> Yeah. That's how it work. That's how it work with a firm. >> What happens when you like like when he ask you for the stuff and you you bought a bunch of stuff and you leave it here and you leave you still pay. >> That's what I'm saying. My you still have to pay for it. Yes. A firm paid for WHAT? WHAT I'M SUPPOSED TO DO? My phone dead. >> Officers then explained that a firm at Walmart didn't work the way she described. >> You You have to disrespect ME BECAUSE I DIDN'T disrespect you. I GAVE YOU A CARD. EVEN THOUGH MY PHONE WAS DEAD, I DIDN'T KNOW THAT MY FIRM WENT THROUGH OR NOT. You told that you tell me that it has to go for it different. That's what I'm saying. The correct information. >> See, I didn't know that when it gave me the option that check out. I thought I could pay with a car. >> I get that. But how you use a firm though is only through online. It's not a store aspect thing. So you would only ever use it online. If you were using a firm today, you would not have gone in the store to get your items. We get them for you and we drop them off to your vehicle. That's how that works. >> All right. Go ahead and step out for me, please. Please do not run. I ran the Chicago Marathon. I will catch you. >> I'm not going to run. I'm not like >> Hey, have a different thing. It's all the same thing. No. >> So, so what do we go through? Like we despise the situation. We seem to misunderstand with the firm type of thing. >> Affirm. >> Hold on. I'll talk to you in a second. Hold on. If you tell me the truth, we we'll work with you. If you don't, you will you will you will not like it. Okay. So, let me just say something here to you now. You have the right to remain silent. So, I just chased that gray car through a field down all the way almost to Poria. Hold on. So >> why don't you step out there with him and you step over here with me while he talks to her. >> That'll work. And then I'll come talk to you, too. >> So I just asking you to be cooperative. Okay? If you cooperate and all you did was steal some stuff, I'll give you a ticket in a court date. You'll walk out of here. If you lie to me, I promise you I'm going to make a difference. >> We just explained it here that it was a middle of the standing in Poria. I can play with a firm on my phone. I can scan a barcode. My phone is dead right now. You see in the camera I pulled my phone out and sc the barcode. My barcode went through but the phone went dead. So I didn't know it did not go through until you get here. >> My mom the the same person you chased. That's my mom. >> So she brought you all here today. So >> and she ditched you all to here. >> Yes. >> That is terrible. >> Why we stuck in Washington? I stay for I have a whole baby. I'm not going to steal nothing. I came in here. I scared. >> So who who else was with you? It's you, her, the girl I had here and your mom. That's it. No one else. The girl in the red jacket I said. >> Yeah. Yeah. So your So your mom left all three of you here and took off. Why does she have a warrant or something? What's What's the deal? Does that's why she >> I don't know. I think so. She took my other sister >> cuz she was outside in the car. She >> That's why I'm saying her and my sister left for us. THEY DID NOT COME BACK IN the store and say we going to go or nothing. They just left. When he took my car, I'M GOING TO THE CAR TO TRY TO EXPLAIN the situation to my mom. I'm running TOWARDS THE CAR TO TRY TO EXPLAIN TO HER SO she come from MY CAR TO TRY TO TALK TO THE MAN. SHE DISAPPEAR. HE HE picking at me some where your ride at? They left you. Woo woo this. So I'm running around the parking lot looking for my mom. He like your ride left you haha this. Haha that. I'm like what you mean? >> Yeah because I needed clothes >> which is all that merchandise is still. >> See I did say that. Okay. I told >> I apparently I apologize. >> That's why I said you misunders you and he misunderstood me because I said that. >> What's the uh what's the name of the driver again? Last name Gibbons but what was her first name? >> The driver of the car. Kamaya's mom. >> Malikica, she came in too. >> Everybody came. >> Okay. Okay. >> Conversation. My mom, me, Marishia, came through this door. Jazz and my other sister came through that door. That's why I wanted to say >> Okay. I see that in this video, but thank you. >> The incident ended with roughly $4,000 in fines and multiple charges. Malika later turned herself in for fleeing and traffic related offenses, while Karia faced retail theft and obstruction charges. The others also face consequences for their involvement. Let's take a look at how viewers reacted after watching that breathtaking situation. When they say, "I'm not going to lie to you," means they are definitely lying to you. It's amazing how many people's phones go dead at the most inconvenient times. Hardship isn't a free pass to steal, and a dead payment app isn't proof of purchase. When excuses clash with surveillance footage, evidence usually has the final word. If this mother was willing to hit the gas and leave her own children behind just to escape a petty shoplifting charge, the woman in the next case used her respected position as a post office manager as a shield to conceal a federal mail theft scheme worth up to $369,000. Does ditching stolen merchandise before leaving the store suddenly make everything legal? Two women apparently thought so. On March 14th, 2024, officers confronted them after cameras captured the pair stuffing merchandise into bags and throwing it back when police approached. I'm giving you >> Don't reach for it. Oh, I'm sorry. >> What? We was only in custody. >> Yeah, >> but we didn't take nothing. >> You attempted to take stuff and then you went back into the store. >> We didn't though. We had stuff in our hand. We never left out with it. We >> This lady was on that side. He was on the phone with the asset protection guy. They said they even got you on camera. Okay. So, all the stuff that you'll be able to see to. Okay. We didn't just show up here out of nowhere if you know what I mean. >> So, there's a lot of questions we got to answer. Have you you know have you been arrested before retail? >> Yes, we have. >> Okay. Have you been arrested before retail? >> Everybody can steal anything. You see that? Exactly. >> Well, I know I know that the lost protection agent wants her. >> She does have so I have to figure out what she was figure out. Okay. >> Log the known subject with the orange hair registered on her that >> you didn't successfully take. >> Oh, that's so irritating. >> Who's going to take her? I'll identify her and then I'll meet up with you guys in a second. Okay. >> You're going to take her lose her. Okay. This is stuff they initially pushed out. >> Uh yeah, they concealed it in their bags. >> Okay. >> Perfect. Uh anyone else with them that you know of or >> just the two that I saw? >> Just the two. Okay. >> Um could you uh come up with like a receipt on this of how much like this >> you want it combined? Otherwise I can try to figure out unfortunately that one um I don't have I didn't have consuming on camera. >> The one in orange she had consumed on camera. >> She consumed. Okay. She did not though. >> Uh she had stuff concealed in her bag too. I just unfortunately >> don't know which one was. Yeah. >> Okay. So, we know though that she for surely >> Yes. >> stole. Okay. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Yeah. Cuz like I can know she was walking around with these. >> Okay. >> For a little bit. And then I think >> we said we're 100% that she concealed. >> Concealed cuz she had the Nike things. I think she had socks. >> We're just not sure what all cuz they brought the stuff back in. So, we found it all. >> So, I say we just do a combined order together >> and for both of them for >> Yeah. Well, they push it out. So >> right out. >> Their hall wasn't exactly luxurious. Baby socks, a sippy cup, pajamas, and children's clothing. A getaway driver was even waiting outside. >> If you just want to do the full search here, let me come. Let's move. >> I appreciate your cooperation, man. We'll get through this. >> We're as decent with you as you are with us. So, we're going to pull the squat up so you don't have to walk in the rain. >> I'm going to put you in a nice dry, heated squad, and we're just going to figure this out. >> So, I'm just going to follow everything that we're expecting to do. >> Same for everybody. Same for everything that put you in the spot. And that's just going to go with us. >> Okay. >> I'll put it in the front with us and stay with you. >> Okay. So, one quickie just for before we put you in the squad. Go ahead. Separate >> your feet for me. >> We just don't know yet. Same thing. >> Okay. Cuz we did not leave out the store with nothing. We had stuff in our hand, but we did not leave out with nothing. >> Don't look at the videos. We're kind of going by what we have. >> I cannot be doing this stuff. Like, no. So crazy. >> Yeah. Can I call something? That was really like I'm so irritated. Like this is >> Yeah. Yeah. We'll let you as soon as we can. We'll let you use the phone. >> Okay. Please. >> Yep. >> Yeah. We just got to figure this out. >> And if tell if you have to go to the district, does she go with us? >> Uh it just depends on Yeah. So if if if if she's not arrested, you are and she can't stay with you then. >> Right. Yeah, I understand. >> But we'll figure it out. >> Okay. >> Okay. And like I said, as soon as we know things, we'll let you know. You're being decent. I appreciate it. So I'll just let you know everything I know. But I'm going to hang out with you until we figure it out. >> Despite repeatedly claiming they had done nothing wrong, the evidence told another story. >> This is ridiculous. I'm getting picked up. So when I said what's going on >> I'm going to go to the dentist. >> Well, how am I going to steal? You know how you guys steal? >> I didn't do >> There you go. That's your answer. We're going to go to county. >> County the jail. That's going to depend. We don't know if you have any >> this I'm pregnant too. So, can you please notice >> 15 weeks? I like first >> I don't know why. So, can you explain to me again cuz I don't know why you're being arrested. Usually put items in your purse. >> No worries. >> She called 1080. >> I know. >> I didn't put nothing in my purse. >> What? My phone right there, too. >> Whenever you can. >> Yes. I guess uh for prior um retail thefts and we'll kind of figure out >> 14. >> However many times you've been arrested prior for retail theft is going to play. >> I don't know what they are. >> So >> I think I'm taking I thought I was taking a >> Okay. >> I don't know who was taking what but I just know >> I don't know you're in debate with you. >> I got it. >> Okay. We don't have no like if it should be on camera if that's the if that's what y'all got to call about. You should see exactly what's going on. I feel like a call and that's just something that they require us to do cuz believe it or not people intentionally fall over and act like we push. >> What happened? We getting accused accused cuz I didn't take >> This is ridiculous, man. I got you know who see people So, what's going on there? >> Huh? >> What's going on? >> We're organizing stuff. We're figuring out what we're going to do with the car. You're going to get you in a squad here and then probably going to jail. Okay. >> I'm going to jail. >> Mhm. >> Why? >> For retail theft. >> Why am I going to jail? I didn't take nothing. >> For a retail theft, we already Okay. >> Jail. >> Jail. Yeah. Walk County Jail. Okay. >> Why? >> Because you committed a crime. >> No, I didn't, bro. So, I got to go to jail. >> Sounds like it. Oh, look. >> So, even if you don't look it, did this? >> Even if you don't leave with the merchandise theoretically, I'm not accusing you anything. I don't know what happened. I didn't. >> But if it's not on camera that I took anything, then what's going on? >> They trying to take us to jail. We didn't take >> If you attempt to leave, that's still a crime. Okay. Even if you don't take it, who are you? You're in my place. I need you to wait outside for me. Okay. God, not right now. I need you to wait outside for me. One more. They got hurt in the car next week today. Send me to her sister on scene in the front. I instruct her to exit. She's looking to speak to an officer. This hurting me now. I really don't know what I'm going to do. What's your sister's name? >> Why? Just cuz she's here. What's her first name? I don't know if she wants to know that. So, just her first name. I just need to talk to her. >> My friend. >> Hi. So, I'm not I'm going to jail. We're going to determine that where we're going. >> Yep. Face squad. Separate your feet wide apart. I got to search you again now. >> I don't know. I really want to know why people don't know. I haven't [ __ ] on your side and she need a seat belt. Oh man, where the can I execute? Just a little. >> No. Well, >> ma'am, can someone >> when she when she know? She'll let you know. >> So, if she come here, I'm going to get it. I don't even after all the denials and claims of innocence, the facts stayed the same. One suspect walked away with a $140 court debt, while the other had her charges reduced to disorderly conduct, but still had legal procedures ahead of her. Here are the most attention-grabbing comments from the online community regarding this incident. She's so irritated cuz she got caught. Amazing how indignant people get when they get caught. Just because you're pregnant doesn't give you the right to steal. Getting caught before reaching the exit doesn't magically erase what happened. If the two teens quietly stole baby items, the women in the next case sparked a mall chase, then blamed it on being stared at and bragged about their peanut business. Can stealing really be justified as revenge against rude employees? Two women apparently tried that argument. >> Josh, where are you? >> On December 8th, police responded to a shopping center for a retail theft report. The moment the two suspects spotted officers, they ran. Yep. >> Pursuit through the helmet. PLEASE STOP RUNNING. PLEASE STOP RUNNING. PLEASE STOP RUNNING. PLEASE STOP RUNNING. PLEASE STOP RUNNING 94. PLEASE STOP RUNNING. STOP RUNNING. You're going TO GET ON the ground. Get on the ground. >> I got one secure. Stupid as >> Drew, you good? >> Yeah. You got yours? >> Yeah. Over by I4. >> Keep it up. >> STOP. HEY, STOP RUNNING. YOU'RE GOING TO GET CHASED. YOU'RE GOING TO GET CHASED. STOP RUNNING. GET THE OTHER GIRL. GET THE OTHER GIRL. >> DO NOT MOVE. DO NOT MOVE. Face the wall. >> MY MAN IS TRYING TO PAY FOR MY [ __ ] >> YOU'RE GOING TO GET CHASED. GET THE ON THE GROUND NOW. >> Get on the ground. Get on the ground. Get on your stomach. >> Okay. Okay. Okay. >> DROP YOUR PHONE OR YOU'RE GOING TO GET TASED. >> PUT YOUR HANDS BEHIND YOUR BACK. >> Why don't you >> put your hands BEHIND YOUR BACK, BRO? As long as she give me her bag, bro. Then I got me on camera doing anything. I got money. That girl just my knees. >> Stop resisting. >> I'm not resisting anything. >> She just getting her bad. >> Get up. >> After being caught, one woman insisted she had plenty of money and claimed she only ran because seeing police affected her heart. >> Yeah. You got yours? LET ME STOP MY KEY. >> STOP. >> MY KEYS. >> Hold on. She's still fighting right now. >> I promise. Oh, my bag. >> I'm not fighting you. Excuse me, ma'am. Can you please go get my my cousin's car keys, please? >> Hold on. >> I don't want to lose her car keys. >> You're not going to lose anything. >> I'm not resisting you. I have money in my bag to buy. I want it. >> When I tell you to do something, you stop. >> I'm stopping. You scared me. She gave me her bag and started running. What you expect me to do? >> Can I get my shoes, please? I don't want to walk barefooted. Excuse me, sir. Please. >> I'm 104. >> Mr. Officer, please. My shoes. >> Josh, where are you? >> My shoes, sir. Please. This is nasty. Everybody spits on the floor. >> He got us. >> Do we got her? >> Do we? >> Thank you. >> Stop moving. >> I'm not going nowhere. I'm telling you. I'm paying for my [ __ ] >> Do you need anything from us or No, >> you please. She had my She gave me the bag. I'm trying to buy my stuff. I have money. I'm not spending. >> I mean, I don't think they stole from you guys yet, but >> I've been hitting a bunch of stores, so >> No, I HAVE NOT. I JUST BOUGHT STUFF OUT OF NIKE. >> I just bought stuff out of Nike. >> Uh, >> I have money in my bag. That Old Navy lady, SHE MAD BECAUSE I SHOT A BIRD. >> JOSH, you have the Nike bag. >> Look, look. Stop. >> I'm trying to show you my stuff in my wedding. >> I don't care. >> I'm not selling anything. >> Stop moving. WHAT ARE YOU DOING? >> CHILL OUT. WHAT YOU DOING? >> WHAT TO DO? >> I told you what to do. >> So, >> yeah, we got contain right now. >> Sit. >> Okay. >> Put your feet out. >> You got my feet. >> Put your feet out. >> All the way out. All the way out. >> Oh, sorry. I have money though. Y'all got me here. I'm buying that stuff. What did I steal? She then blamed store employees for watching her too closely and admitted the theft was partly retaliation for how she felt she had been treated. >> Bro, the lady got mad. >> Put your feet back out. >> Oh, I'm sorry, bro. The lady got mad because I shot a bird at her old lady. Nobody stole anything. Like, I have money. I have bu money in my purse. >> I have bu money in my purse. >> Stop. Listen. >> I'm sorry. I'm sorry. >> Listen for nothing. Yeah, we can cancel. >> I have money in my purse. That's crazy. >> That lady I know that lady in Old Navy called y'all. She mad because I shot a bird at her and told them that they were harassing us. >> Appreciate it. >> Where was that? >> In the fitting room. >> In the fitting room. Okay. Uh, just give us give us a minute and then we'll >> once we get more officers over here, they're gonna come in and try to see what else they have there. >> That was the other girl that just walked that deep in them. STOP YELLING. >> Stop talking. Stop acting like we don't know what we're talking about. >> Stop yelling. Stop yelling. Blackie, stop yelling. >> Those other girls that just walked out of there just left because something was going on. I'm in there shopping. Why would I be in there that long? I have money in my purse. All three of them >> buzz out and everything. What am I? What did I do? ID3. >> Do you have an ID in there? >> No. >> You have any weapons in there? >> No. >> Okay. >> What's your name? We're right in front of Forever 21. If you walk in through Sachs, go all the way through, you'll see us. >> That's crazy. >> All right. You have a Florida license. It's just not with you. >> Yeah, I don't have one. >> I'm just going to service. So, she got you mixed up with the black girl, >> girl. She said she fa to go watch the footage. See, >> we don't have y'all mix up with anybody. Why did you >> I never Did I say you got me mixed up? Did I say that? >> I don't know. She's saying that. >> That I didn't say that. I didn't say that. >> Okay. >> So, they had already concealed stuff in these bags. That's what this is. >> Yeah. I have the pictures of like the bags with the stuff inside. >> Awesome. When can I send you a link? I don't know if the other officer what he's done exactly. So, [music] basically to for us to collect that, we'll just send you either a text or email and it's a link where you literally just like drag and drop the uh the video or pictures into the link. >> Okay. >> Um [music] he didn't do that, did he? The other officer didn't send that. >> Okay, I'll send it out. Um >> would that [music] be the easiest way like for us to get it? >> Or do you know like a phone number or email? >> Yeah, like I have it on my phone like every year on like our computer. >> Yeah, like you can show me it right now. So, you should be able to [music] um like when I when I would text you, it basically just a link you click on it and it would open up and say choose like choose from your photos or whatever and then if your gallery it's so photos and then you just you just click it and put it right in. >> Okay. >> Um >> let me Yeah. And then I'll need to come back with a statement and get a statement from you guys. >> Um let me just do that when I come back. So, I'm going to drop this stuff back off at Old Navy and I'll come back with a statement and uh and I'll send you the link. >> Okay. >> She even encouraged officers to check her LLC unusually named these nuts. As if her business somehow supported her innocence. >> I ain't even run your name, >> man. I'm on probation. What you going to do? You know you ain't did nothing, but what you going to do? Cuz how they going rush? They running after her now. They both of them. Both of them. So, you know, I just stand there and I look I'm in shock and I was like I was like that's the only reason why I stall out of there, bro, cuz they WAS WATCHING ME. I COULD HAVE BOUGHT EVERYTHING I GOT. I COULD HAVE BROUGHT everything in that I wanted. Only reason why I did that, bro, cuz they they stereotype me and I hate to be stereotype. I hate that. Soon as I walked in the door, everybody come from out of nowhere watching. I hate that. So, I did what y'all wanted me to do. I did. And I did that just the fact, you feel what I'm saying? Not thinking I'm going to get caught cuz if I did, you feel what I'm saying? I would never did it because I could have brought everything I wanted. I could have. was some $6 of shirts. I could have bought all six of them, but I didn't cuz y'all stereotype me and y'all thought that I was doing it, so I did it. I gave y'all what y'all thought. Every time Every time, even when I do, they make me not want to buy anything. I mother how they harass me. >> Stand by. Let me let me call Drew real quick. >> Yeah. It's my back door. >> Go out. He catches her though. >> And he came on, you want to make a statement? No, I don't make a statement. She caused no harm to me. She caused didn't steal anything here. She did not cause any physical damage. She just running. He caught her. >> I'm going to do no report. >> Did Did you um Did you see any physical contact between them going through here? >> I had no physical contact. >> No, no, no. The police officer and the girl. >> No, there's no physical contact. >> What about outside? Did you see any of that? >> No, I did not see. I'm not going to chase somebody like that. >> Just wanted to make sure. >> I'll let you do your job, man. >> All right. Thank you. >> Chasing nobody. >> Thank you, sir. >> Yeah. You're welcome. >> Bye. No, she doesn't hear that. >> He pressed the thing. He pressed the thing to record. He press All she said. All she said was, "Can you talk around my neck, dog?" >> Come on. >> Sit down. Sit down. >> You can't blanket your hands or cuff. How? >> That don't make sense. Make it make sense. >> So, is it a bow tie? >> Yes, it's a shoe tie. You tie your shoes. >> All right. >> I ain't got AIDS or no STDs. I'll put it in airplane mode. Got to get the calls and stuff. >> Really? >> All right. You can hold it. >> So, if you can just show me like you're not texting anybody or messaging them on Facebook or don't have anything posted. >> I'll let you go to the messenger first. You have more peanuts. Peanuts. My hair. That's my family. Good day. Can you show me like the peanuts that you're talking about? >> It's my logo. >> Let me see that. >> Is it we >> these nuts? It's called these nuts. >> I know. But go back to that that video. >> Okay. >> That's not weed. I won't show you. I wanted to tell you. That's why it looked like you show me that real quick. >> See, I do hair. >> Mhm. Nothing's on my page. It's about nothing. >> Go back over to that selling that stuff. >> I don't know. It's in the Orlando page. That's why I go to do my hair business. So, I just share everybody business. >> Gotcha. >> That's it. And that's all. Who can make me a quick shirt? That was 4 hours ago. Peanuts cooking 5 hours ago. I'm not supposed to be here. >> Okay. >> See hair. I This is what I do. >> Okay. What about text? You mind showing me text? >> Yes. No one's saying anything about money. Okay. All right. Thank you. I'm not going to take your phone now. So, you'll you'll keep it um with your property. >> Can I see? >> No. No. >> I wanted to see it with my mom. >> I already So, your mom called and I told her that you're arrested and you you'll call her when you get to jail. I gave her an update. She didn't even sound upset for some reason. >> Um Let me >> So my phone to go with my property. >> Yeah, it's going to go with your property. >> Thank you so much for that. >> You're welcome. >> I don't I don't steal to sell. I make >> Yep. Come over here. Come over here. Since I have two of you, I got >> You want to make sure we not on Facebook stuff? I just show I don't we don't steal stuff. >> Oh, I don't have Facebook. >> You don't got Facebook? Yeah, I got Facebook. So you take on my page. >> No, you're good. >> My page. My page. All all my Facebook. >> I trust you. >> In the end, both women face charges for retail theft and resisting arrest. What did the audience think of this unbelievable handle? Let's go through a few standout comments. Worries about her stuff, but doesn't care about the store losing their stuff. Her logic makes my head hurt. They profiled them, so they went on and stole it anyway. Feeling mistreated may explain someone's frustration, but it doesn't justify stealing. If this business woman blamed employees for staring at her as an excuse to steal, the woman in the next case used a bold heatbased trick inside the store restroom. What happens when two women conceal merchandise at a mall, then take off running the moment officers appear while still insisting they had money to pay? >> Please, please don't >> just face the vehicle. >> Please, please don't arrest. >> This isn't going to turn into a fight. >> Please, please don't arrest me. >> This is not going to turn into a fight. Face the vehicle. Please don't arrest me. Please. >> On January 9th, police responded to Burlington after employees reported a burning smell from a restroom. A woman was suspected of burning security tags to steal merchandise. >> Oh, thank you. >> Burning. >> Okay. Hello, I'm officer herville police department. So, they are requesting you be trespassed. So, just leave those items right here. >> How come? >> Um, so you went in the bathroom and you burned some items, the sensors off some items. >> Didn't burn anything. I was at the school. >> Okay. So, they're requesting that you be trespassed. >> Okay. >> What's the lighter on your wrist for? >> Yeah, for that way when I go to smoke, I just have it right there. That way, no one steers it, you know. >> Okay. I get my stuff stolen a lot. >> I'm going to walk over to my truck. >> Make sure to put my, you know, like uh I was going to buy out on the shelf so that way I can Okay. What's your last name? Okay. Hang tight here. I'm just going to write you off a trespass. Um, what were you doing in the bathroom that would make him think that you were burning something? >> I had no idea. I literally had been smoke at all. Hey, just tape in there, but it is. >> Okay. So, we would just need evidence, some sort of, you know, proof cuz she's saying she didn't burn anything. She didn't have anything on her. >> Yeah. >> So, right now, I'm just writing up trespass. >> That's That's fine because as soon as I would be able to get video evidence would be tomorrow. So, and of course, it's too late for right now. >> Was there any items? Did you check where she left her stuff? Did you see anything burnt? >> So, when she I had another customer who went into the restroom at the same time she did. >> I went in there and checked myself. Nothing was working at that time. >> The customer came out and um as she's coming out, she's like a lighter color. I don't know what that was all about, but I had a lighter. So, I went and I went in there again and all I can smell is the smelling, the burning smell of our sensors in the bathroom. Like, it literally still smells like that in there right now. >> It takes a while cuz we don't have great ventilation in there. So, it takes a while for it to come out of the restroom. >> Yeah. >> Um to not have to close off for the rest of the night. But she she had like um she had like some of our stationary stuff that was like a purple pen with like a star on it. Um I know that she had one of those in her hands and I don't know if she still has that or not, but that was one of the things that she had and she had some bags and stuff. I did try to pick up as much as the bags I could but >> Okay. So do you so you just want to trespass or >> I just want to get her right now. That's Yeah. When questioned, she blamed the smell on poor hygiene and claimed the lighter on her wrist was only for smoking. >> Okay. Sorry, just another minute. >> Trespassing. >> Yeah. So, they said that right after you went right when after you went into the bathroom, it smelt like there was a customer complaining that when you went into the bathroom, it smelt like burning. And then the manager went in after and she said it smelt like um >> so funny because if you play the camera tapes I wasn't even in the bathroom long enough to do anything other than >> Well, unfortunately I mean I can't prove that you were in there burning. So they aren't pressing charges for anything. They just want you trespassed. >> So does this mean I can't come to the whole place or >> just this location? So if you wanted to go to a different Burlington, um you could and then same as like if you need to go to Big Lots or something, but you cannot. So it would be criminal trespass in the second degree if you're hanging out outside of this specific store. So if you go to Big Lots, don't like linger in front of here. Um and you also It's a one-year trespass from this store. >> You don't get to shower often, so I mean I've had people tell me I do smell bad. No, they said it's like burning plastic. >> I didn't light anything on fire at all. >> Okay. You know, it's funny because the Everett Library actually uh twice now has uh barred me for 60 days because they said I was smoking in the bathroom. Their vapor sensors went off. And the second time I watched a security guard watch me and my home girl walk into the bathroom together and she smoked in the bathroom. I didn't >> I don't smoke in public in public because I [snorts] like being able to go to the restroom when I can't. You know what I mean? >> Yeah. >> Like >> but like how's the store supposed to know when if two of you go in and then it smells like smoke? >> He said you he said you were the only one in the bathroom when it went off. I was like you saw her go in there with me, dude. Come on. Stop. Like don't even play me like that. one of the cameras back. >> Yeah. >> She then identified herself as Kiara, but officers discovered she was actually Kylie and had used her sister's name 31. Are you available to come to Burlington? Um, okay. So, you'll just sign here at the bottom. This is like I was saying a one-year trespass just right down there acknowledging that. So at this point though, I'm going to give you your copy of this, but you are not free to leave. You do have a warrant out of Everett. Okay. Looks like you have a quite a few warrants out of Everett. There's one for criminal trespass in the second degree. >> Are you sure? >> Yeah. >> That's not my sister. So, the name that you gave me is not coming back with her turn. The only name is coming back with Kylie. And all of the photos, the DOL photo is you. The booking photos is you. So, I'm not believing that your name is Kiara. >> That's my sister. >> Kiara is your sister? >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, Kylie is your name? >> Kaye. >> Kaye. Okay. So, why'd you lie to me about your name? Because you knew you had a warrant. Things got worse when police found multiple outstanding warrants tied to previous theft related cases. >> Okay, so you're under arrest for the warrant. >> So, please, please, please don't >> just face the vehicle. >> Please, please don't arrest me. >> This isn't going to turn into a fight. >> Please, please don't arrest me. >> This is not going to turn into a fight. Face the vehicle. >> Please don't arrest me. Please >> face the vehicle. >> Please, please. >> Please don't arrest me. Please >> put your hand behind your back. >> Please don't arrest me. >> What do I not understand? What do you have? >> What do you have? Is it cellulitis or something? >> I don't want I have one in there. >> What do you have on your leg? >> Yeah. What is it? I'm saying. >> Okay. Step up here. Okay. What pills? Okay. The nurse check you out there. Take a seat in the back seat. Nothing in your shoes. Help. Help. You call for an aid for my leg. Uh, we will once we get there. >> Kylie was ultimately taken into custody for shoplifting, failure to appear, and outstanding warrants from previous theft related charges. In response to that outofc control escalation, the viewers have shared some very sharp perspectives. I get my stuff stolen a lot. Yeah, it sucks when people steal from you, right? claiming to be too injured to go to jail due to a leg wound. But you're perfectly fine. Walking around Burlington shopping is a new one for me. Kylie's case is a clear reminder that lying to police is like pouring fuel on the fire. When you try to hide a small mistake, you often end up exposing much bigger problem. If Kylie used a restroom to destroy security tags and deny everything, the woman in the next case turned a Dollar Tree restroom into a dumping ground for hundreds of stolen letters. What happens when a woman rides an ebike through neighborhoods collecting other people's mail, then tries to flush the evidence and claims a mysterious redhead paid her $200 to do it? >> Is all my stuff going to get my phone? >> No, we're going to see if we can package it up small enough to bring it out there. >> Can you can you call my dad? >> We'll get to all that. We're very very beginning. You're going to be spending some time with us, Miss Miller. So, we'll get we'll get to all that fun stuff here in just a moment. On March 22nd, 2026, police responded after a 36-year-old woman was caught stealing hundreds of pieces of mail from multiple households. Once spotted, she quickly jumped onto an electric bike and tried to flee. >> Investigation. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> Put my band hanger if you don't mind me. >> Go ahead and just grab this. >> A lawful criminal investigation. That's all you need to know right now. Okay. So, you're not free to go. Come out with yourself. Don't worry about it. >> Okay. Can I call my um N? We're going to take this right here. I'm going to take your hands. We're going to put in Right. All right. >> How long have I been? Am I just being paid or what? >> You're being detained. We'll talk about it in a few minutes. >> Okay, >> I'll grab yourself. Don't worry about it. >> Stuff fell on the floor, sir. >> Stuff fell on the floor. Do you buy it? >> Uh, is this one here? >> Oh, yes. >> Don't move. And it won't stuffing. And I nerd. >> Yes, I did. It was on the camera >> in there. Hold on one second. You said you dropped stuff in here. >> Um, it was some toilet paper. I had to go get out. After being handcuffed, Miller insisted she had only entered the restroom to throw away some tissues in case. >> What stall were you in? >> Take this, please. >> Hey, 11 on two. Good. >> We've got her 1012. Got her out of the bathroom. Told her she was lawfully detained. Went into the bathroom. Is all the mail with the addresses in the trash can in here. Uh, we're here at $63 General or Dollar Tree. >> Dollar Tree at Columbus. Yeah, I I'll grab her stuff real quick. We'll go outside. We'll chitchat. Okay. What was your name? Miss >> Uh Miller. >> Okay. Well, Miss Miller, we're going to go outside and chitchat for a moment. This is all your stuff, right? >> Yes, sir. I got some that I can get a number. >> Miss Miller, let's go out and chitchat. That's not your purse, too, is it? >> I guess it is. >> That one right there. That's it. This is yours, Miss Miller. Right here. >> This is yours? >> Yes, sir. >> Okay, perfect. What's up, man? >> All right. Where you coming from? >> Uh, >> Miss Miller, I'm going to cut right to the chase. Okay, I'm going to give you the one chance to be honest cuz we all know why we're here right now. Okay, so what in the world will compel you to steal all that mail today? You're running around here looking like freaking Santa Claus. >> Um, I did not have that bag to begin with when that woman stopped me. Okay. >> Um, I was actually holding on to it for a friend cuz he was actually going up the road and doing it. >> Who's your friend? >> Um, her name is Rachel. Rachel. Yes. Rachel. I don't know anybody named Rachel. What's her last name? >> I don't know. She's a redhead. Uh, she tricks. >> She tricks. >> Yeah. >> Goodness gracious. >> Yeah. >> Okay. That's why I gave that to to the woman. I was like, I don't I you know. >> So So you left there. All right. And 15 minutes later, some other guy called and said that you were at their place. >> No, I stopped at um the house. I can show you the house. It's right here to take my hoodie and everything off. >> All right. But what happened down the street when you left that lady? >> That lady? Let it go for you. >> Well, see, the the problem with that is, Miss Miller, is that you're here all by yourself. And guess what? All this discarded property in the trash that we're allowed to go through >> is all the addresses that we were just at. >> So, this is mail from all that stuff, all them places. >> I don't have a pump on you. >> Yeah, I appreciate it. >> I have >> So, what were you doing with this stuff? >> Um, we were supposed to >> in a second. Have a seat and I'll I'll get you a sip of Mountain Dew. And can I have a cigarette part of the jam? >> We'll let you have a cigarette here. I'll help you down. >> Thank you. Um I don't know how to do this. This is my leg. >> There you go. Crisscross applesauce. Perfect. >> Um >> actually, you know what, Miss Miller? Let me have you stand up real quick. And then we'll sit you back down. I apologize for the inconvenience. >> I need to take your sunglasses off just for a second. I know it's bright out here, but Well, not quite yet. >> My phone. I know I'm going to have to have um a number to get bonded out. >> Yeah, you can. You can get your phone and go with it. that bond, right? >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Hey, sorry. She's coming. I'm passenger side. He'll be here in a moment. >> So, you were you and this girl Rachel were paid by somebody to to bring it to the house on 8th Street. >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. Who paid you? >> Um, who does the red? >> Red's like the theme of the day. So, you got Rachel red hair, you got red hair, and Red paid you to do it. >> I have red streaks, but yeah. >> Okay. So, how much were you going to get paid for this stuff? >> Um, I was supposed to get paid $200. >> And then Rachel the same, or she getting more? >> I don't know. I do know that the the house up there had got raided here recently. >> Why is some of it thrown away and some of it's not thrown away? >> Um, >> what was that, Miss Miller? I'm sorry. >> Some uh they said that when we do go so that it doesn't look like there's so much stuff being brought there. >> Mhm. >> Um to actually feel and see if there's cards in it. And I that's what I did. I felt it. >> Yeah. >> And to see if there was any cards in it. And >> so yeah, I noticed all these are the cards, >> huh? >> All these are the the cards here. So this Yeah, you keep kept these cuz they may had the cards in them, right? >> Yeah. But some of the papers I'm not trying to get close to you. >> No, you're fine. You're fine. You're fine. >> Papers in there are hard. >> Yeah. >> I still want to take the time to go. They open all over. >> It's a lot to open. I don't blame you. >> This is the first time I've done this. >> First time. >> Yeah. Things took an even stranger turn when Miller opened up about her personal life, admitting she was addicted to meth, and mentioning someone she called her street dad, a man who looked after and protected her in the area. I I believe you that you were paid to do it. Okay, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt there. The only problem is is that all the surveillance footage that we obtained in the last hour >> from all these areas only show you, Miss Miller. They don't show any other redhead or anybody else with you. Rachel is also going down the road and getting I got the bag from her before I even got down that before I even started going down those Daytona Avenue. Sir, >> uh she used to be with a guy named Duke. >> Duke. >> Yes, sir. >> And this is my uh friend. I don't want to lose her bike cuz she's going to kill me if I do. >> Oh, this was used in this was this was used in the commission of an incident right now. >> Yeah. So, yeah. No, >> my sunglasses in my my Mount. Yeah, you can put your sunglasses back. >> I'm sorry. I'm trying to be as helpful as pos. You can raise it back up because I know that's more >> like you're you're seems like you're either unwilling or unable to give up any associ but that's unwilling or unable. So, it could be either. >> So, what that's looking like to me is it's looking like it's just you. >> No, I can I will be >> here. Laura, take a picture of this. >> Miss Miller, can you do me a favor now? We can have a seat. You can rest yourself. I'll help you down. >> Yeah. Uh, they are in >> Okay, I'll get them for you. Okay, sir. >> I'll help you down. >> All right. Thank you. Um, >> there you go. >> Um, thank you. >> Ah, >> my phone is dead. Um, and it has >> Is that your phone? >> Yes, sir. And this one right here. And I would like, if you don't mind, to charge it so I can They'll let you do that over at the at the jail. >> Let you charge your phone to jail and I can't get my phone number. >> Okay. >> Tell you the truth, I'm pretty sure that we're [snorts] gonna take your phone. Yeah. >> Because odds are you communicated all this through your phone, right? >> Uh that was through messenger. >> Yep. There you go. Perfect. >> And um I actually went over to a street last night. >> Do you have uh big Publix bags? >> Is all my stuff going to get my fault? >> No. We're going to see if we can package it up small enough to bring it out there. Can Can you Can you call my dad? >> Well, we we'll get to all that. We're very very beginning. You're going to be spending some time with us, Miss Miller. So, we'll get we'll get to all that fun stuff here in just Is that your phone or is that your phone? >> Um, that was my boyfriend's phone. That was mine. >> Who's your boyfriend? >> David Ortiz. >> I don't know. Is he [snorts] local? >> His reason I got clean. >> You got clean. And why are you doing this for money and not seeking a real job? Um, I printed the job applications and I'm not gonna lie, relax. So, >> oh, sweet on Hard. What's What's your flavor? Meth. >> Math. He usually after all this is done, you could call my dad and let him know that I'm going to do it. >> I thought you said he's my stepdad. >> Okay. I was going to say I thought you just said he just died. >> He's my street He's basically my street dad down here. My >> street dad. >> Yeah. >> What's his name? >> Uh, John uh Whitney. >> What does a street dad mean? >> Somebody that looks out for me. He's not selling you out or nothing, is he? >> Selling me out when you >> He's not [snorts] working you. >> What do you mean? Tricking? >> Yeah. >> I don't trick. >> Okay. >> My mother told me while I was little. I don't do that. >> Well, if that was the case, I'd like to go after the guy that's making you do that. So, if you're saying no, I'll believe it. >> Is it going to be several charges in one or is it just going to be one big charge? >> Probably just going to lump it into one big one. Depends on how many. Now, it'll be one charge, but there may be multiple counts. >> But I will have a barn. >> I have to see. And I also hate to ask um the hair tie I have in my hair. Is it solid black? >> Mhm. >> Okay. Not the big one around my head, but the one that's in the ponytail cuz >> it looks all black. >> Okay. Cuz if not, can I have the one that's on the ground cuz you won't give me a hair tie. >> You don't have anything else on you, right? >> We'll cooperate. Don't wear >> That's something we'll talk about later. Okay. >> But you got you guys can't call somebody like their opinion. It's not in your best interest right now, tell you the truth. If you're if you're talking about providing substantial assistance later on, it's probably better we keep all this to ourselves, right? >> I'm going to jail. >> Yeah, we can't avoid that. Her excuses couldn't keep the 36-year-old out of jail. Miller was taken into custody and faced 63 charges of petty theft and identity fraud. This situation has sparked quite a bit of debate. Let's see how the viewers evaluate the actions of everyone involved. Isn't mail theft a federal crime? should throw the book at this low life. My substitute letter carrier stole a number of items from me, including a pair of glasses. At the very least, they should lose their job. A phone used to coordinate the activity via messaging apps is routinely seized as evidence of the planning and communication underlying the scheme. Even a firsttime offender faces significant exposure when the number of victims reaches into the dozens. If this male thief targeted complete strangers, the young man in the next case betrayed the trust of his own workplace. What happens when a Walmart employee stages 20 tires at a time, loads them onto trucks, then rings them up for $20 each, and still tries to claim it was just a random customer in a hoodie? >> Not the black truck. >> What time is that? >> That is 7:45. >> And that's the tires. >> That's the tires in a JC truck. >> Call you right back. Let me call you right back. Okay. Yeah. A normal workday at Walmart suddenly turned into the scene of a serious inside job. At the center of the case was Brian Flores, a 22-year-old employee working in the store's automotive department. >> It is uh July July, April 16th. It's approximately 1339 hours. I'm here with um Walmart LPO LPO Con. Um you raise your right hand. You said everything you say is a trigger than a whole. >> Yes. All right. Con have a seat. in regards to a um employee who is um >> Okay. So, just tell me what happened. >> Um so, what happened was on the 5th of April. >> Mhm. >> Um he came he came work at 6 something in the morning. He went in the bathroom where there was all the tires >> and he was fixing the tires. Then he went to the oil. He He took the tires from the He took the tires from the tires room and went to the oil room and staged the tires there. >> In what room? >> From the oil room. >> Oil room. >> Yeah. He staged the tires and around approximately 8:40 8:50 around this time he had one um the customer that came in and he told me that that person was his brother, but I don't know. tomato that's better and [music] >> so you said all right so go ahead so you said customer came in >> yeah the customer came in um he gave him he loaded the 20 tires in the in the truck then he made the customer come back inside the store and pay for um the tires >> and he put all the 20 tires at $20. >> And then um that's when the the team lead informed me that um there's a transaction that was made, but he don't know if the customer pay the full price for the items. So we have something that called a smart system. I went over the smart system and I was able to retrieve the receipt. >> Mhm. >> And it show that he fment went in the cash register and change the price of the item. >> Okay. You check the smart system, you said? >> Yeah, smart system. discovered it was changed. >> Yeah, it should manually um input the prices cuz normally for you to do those for you to um change do the price override, you need a coach or team lead um permission to >> and and is he a coach or team leader? Why he could register? So why did he how did he have the code? >> So no so what he did he did um item he put item looks up. So he put the item looks up. They let him do it without um the team or the coach. >> Okay. Okay. So that's what he did. >> Okay. Um truck park. >> So he parked the truck behind um behind the building. >> So the truck was behind the building. >> Yes. >> And who loaded the truck? >> So him and the other guy lo the truck. So he he pushed the exit door. >> Mhm. >> Then he start giving um the person the tires. >> And how do you know that it's 20 tires? >> Um we count the tires. And >> on the video >> on the video we count the tires. It was 16. And the um the team said that um he take a book pictures and he count how many times he see it was 20 times. And we also do inventory. >> Okay. Inventory >> to inventory. We see that it was we started 16 but to inventory show us it was 20. And also the teammates saw physically how many times. >> And who's this team leader? >> His name is Greg. >> Greg. >> Yeah. >> Is Greg here today? >> Um I I'm think so. I'm not sure. >> Okay. All right. I'll get Greg after this. So okay. Boom. So then after that what? >> Then after that the one the other one was early in the morning. It was around like 6 something in the morning. >> Which day was that? >> On the fifth also. >> So this one you said he came in at 6:00 a.m. to work. >> Yeah, he came at 6:00 a.m. to work. That's when he did the first one. And then the next day they informed me that there was more tire missing. >> So then when I review the the transaction, I said that around this around 7 something the truck came and and deliver some um some tires. So 7:00 a.m. and 8:50 a.m. So two times. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> So when um the truck came, he unload the trucks. >> Was it the same truck? >> No, it was another truck. >> So it was another truck that came and dropped some tires. But at the when you go look at the video, everything was made outside. >> It began during Brian's early shift on April 5th. Taking advantage of the quiet store, he moved tires from storage into the oil change area. When a blue truck pulled up behind the building, Brian pushed the merchandise through an emergency exit and helped an accomplice load 20 tires onto the truck. His method was especially calculated. Normally, changing an item's price requires a manager's approval code. Instead, Brian used the register's item lookup feature to reduce the price of the expensive tires to just $20 each, bypassing approval entirely. Earlier that morning, he had allegedly used the same method to load another 20 tires onto a black truck while recording only 12 in the system. But if you play with fire, you get burned. The unusual transaction was flagged by Walmart system and reported to loss prevention officer April. >> So delivery and that was a Walmart delivery that you guys were expecting. >> Yes. >> Okay. >> Okay. And then what happened? >> And and around that time he was fixing the tires and then I don't remember around time you would see a black truck in the video. Moving to the black truck to backtop around the Bay Area. >> Which truck is this now? >> The That's going to be the black truck. >> Okay. So, this is the truck from earlier. >> Yeah. Left with the tires. >> The 850 truck. >> The 850 truck. It was a blue truck and the other one was a black truck. >> Okay. So, now it's a black truck. >> Yeah. It's a black truck. >> So, with that truck, you will see him go outside to back up and the guy backed up and he start giving him tires. >> Mhm. >> And after that, he gave him 20 tires. He went back inside the store and put in the system. It was 12 tires. >> We did inventory again and we found out it was 20 tires that was missing. >> So in total, he took >> How much was those tires again? And how much did he change it for? >> He changed it for um $20, but he put 12 tires. >> Okay. Yeah. >> Now, what's this guy's name? >> Um his name is Ryan. B A W A M. >> Knows nothing about this. >> He don't he don't know nothing about this. >> Okay. I want to make sure that so he doesn't bail out or >> Brian. Do you know his date of birth? >> No, I don't have his date of birth yet. >> Okay, I'll look. >> How old is he? >> Um, they told me approximately he is 25. >> Okay. >> So now that you'll see that's when the black truck is leaving right now. >> Okay. >> The black truck leaving. >> What time is that? >> That is 7:45. >> And that's the tires. >> That's the tires in the JC truck. >> Call you right back. Let me call you right back. Okay. >> Yeah, I'm doing we're going to do it all here. What's going on? I hear your side of the story. >> It wasn't until officer Daly of the Boon Beach Police Department arrived and questioned him that Brian began to panic. He tried to cover himself with a story about a random guy in a hoodie who had come looking to buy clearance items. >> All right. >> So I can't like even if I make a statement I can't defend my case. >> You can defend your case. Yeah. >> I'm being terminated. >> Yes, sir. >> So how can I make a statement? >> Like like me and April just told you. If you want to open door your termination, then you have 100% right to do that. You can either come back and ask to speak to the market HR or you can call Google Walmart ethics and they'll give you that phone number to open door termination. >> But >> but then I'm just fired regardless. >> So they could overturn it. They could not. But I'm just saying what our facts of our investigation. >> Right. We have everything detail lined up and we just bring associates in to figure out what caused this to happen. >> Okay. >> Right. And that's why we came to talk to you to figure out what caused this to happen. >> Okay. >> Okay. So, even no matter what I just told you, I was going to get a fire regardless while walking in here. >> So, everything else is going to be between April and these two gentlemen here. Okay. >> All right. That's fine. >> I appreciate you coming to talk to me though. >> Yeah. It's just kind of wish I had just time to even remember just just anything source. >> How you doing, man? All right. All right. All right. Mr. Flores. >> Hey, you can stay seated, man. I'm officer Daily with the Boy Beach Police Department. >> Yeah. Of course, you know why we're here. It's no secret. All right. >> But before um I get into anything, I'm going to read your rights. All right. >> Okay. >> Rights against self-discrimination. Everyone is entitled to that. You have one on you? >> Yeah. >> All right. So, my partner here is going to read your rights and I'm going to ask you to a few questions and talk to you about the investigation. Okay. >> Okay. >> Um >> it's best that you be honest with us because that's I mean, we already have everything. I'm not going to ask you questions if I don't know the answer. Okay. >> But that's just going to see your honesty with you and where you lie and how this goes. >> All right. So, if I ask you a question, it's because I already know. >> All right. And this isn't my first time coming across this with you. For me, from the jump, I'll already know and it just makes it worse. All right. >> And we want this to be smooth as possible. >> All right. >> All right. >> So, I'm going to go through this line by line and after every line, you just advise to me that you understand these rights. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> You have the right to remain silent and not answer any questions. Do you understand? >> Yeah. >> Oh, yeah. Yeah. I understand. >> I understand. >> Okay. I'm going to say that one more time. >> You have the right to remain silent and not answer any questions. Do you understand? >> I understand. >> Any statement you make must be freely and voluntarily given. Do you understand? >> I understand. >> You have the right to the presence and representation of a lawyer of your choice before you make any statement and during any question. Do you understand? >> Understand. >> If you cannot afford a lawyer, you are entitled to the presence and representation of a courtappointed lawyer before you make any statements and during any questioning. You understand? I understand. >> If at any time during the interview you do not wish to answer any questions, you are privileged to remain silent. You understand? >> I can make no threats or promises to induce you to make a statement. This must be of your own free will. >> I understand. >> Any statement can and will be used against you in the port of law. You understand? I understand. Okay. You want to sign? >> Oh, yeah. So, you just got to sign that. That's not admission of guilt. That's just stating that we read you your Miranda warnings and your rights and that you understood it. Okay. >> All right. This sign like right here right there. >> Yeah. >> All right. Mr. What's your first name? >> Uh Brian. B R A Y A M. >> Okay. And your last name? >> And what's your date of birth? >> 6302. >> 6302. Do you know why we're here? >> Um yeah, for I'm assuming for this case, the following up, >> which is what? >> The the tires. >> Okay. So, tell me about that. Um, like I said, the hoodie guy come up to me. I was going to toss. >> You haven't told me anything yet, so Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So, I Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I I need to hear from you. What What What's >> So, the hoodie guy comes up to me, says, "Hey, you happen to have some clearance?" I'm like, "Yeah, just I have some, but I have other work to do, but just give me a second. I can pursue that. Just kind of go from there. Make a transaction for him." Comes up, load up his tires, and then Yeah. Do >> you want me to like give you like a whole breakdown or >> You remember when I said that if I'm going to ask you a question, it's because I already know the answers, right? >> Yeah. >> So, don't [ __ ] me. Okay. >> Okay. >> So, once again, tell me detail by detail what happened other than some random hoodie guy cuz we know it wasn't a random hoodie guy. >> Okay. >> All right. >> Yeah. >> So, let's not play. All right. I just didn't start this job yesterday, son. >> All right then. Um I think I don't want to make any statements. >> Okay. All right. Well, um stand up. Put your hand behind your back. You're going to be placed under arrest. Turn your hand. Turn your rest. There you go. >> I want to make it tight on you. All right. >> Yeah. There you go. 14. We don't have one Hispanic. All right. Do you have any weapons on you? Anything like that? Knives, guns, needles, anything that'll poke me? No. All right. >> That's the phone. >> That's the phone. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Did you drive here? >> Yes, I drove here. >> Okay. What keys do you have? Where's your keys? >> The keys are in the shop. >> What kind of vehicle is it? >> Uh 23 Ford Mustang. >> Okay. All right. It's parked here. So, I'm sure they can um they'll leave your vehicle parked here. Okay. It's fine. >> All right. Okay. Are those their glasses? Their work glasses? >> Yeah. Yeah, the work glasses. >> Okay. I'm going to Hey guys, his uh or not his work glasses. That's for you guys. All right. You got them? >> Yeah. Okay. I'm going to just talk to them real quick. All right. So, what did he divulge to you guys? >> So, he admit price overriding the tires. Okay. >> But he he's stating that he don't think that he did anything wrong. >> Okay. See that? He pretty much remembered everything up until the point of tires into his own truck. >> He doesn't remember that. >> Yeah. Well, the truck comes back to his mom. >> Was Flores. Um, >> did you guys see that the credit card that he used was his? It came back to him. So, did he even he declined? >> He's like, "Oh, I don't remember. I have to check my statements, my text messages." >> So, when we got to the credit card piece and the vehicle piece, he that's when he starts saying, >> "Well, he knows." That's why I told him I I looked at I like, "Don't don't sit there. I'm not even going to waste my time listening to your lies. So that's why he shut down, which is fine. We still have enough guy's ID him. Tony ID him from the video.
