December 11th, 2023. Just after 2:00 p.m., Cleveland police received a 911 call reporting an armed carjacking at Glenville Academy on East 162nd Street. The victim, an out-of-town Ohio State assistant football coach visiting for recruiting, told officers he had been sitting inside his rental vehicle in the rear parking lot when a masked [clears throat] teenage male approached the driver's door. According to the coach's statement, he believed the individual was a prospective recruit coming to speak with him and open the door. The suspect then allegedly revealed a handgun and demanded the coach's keys, wallet, and phone. Within seconds, the suspect got into the driver's seat and fled the scene in the coach's black Dodge Durango followed by a white SUV traveling behind him. From the air, the aircraft maintained visual contact as the black Dodge Durango moved through through city's East Side turning block by block, attempting to outrun patrol units below. Aniya Wallace, also 18, was charged with improper firearm handling in a vehicle and receiving stolen property with bond at $100,000. Court proceedings for both remain pending with no confirmed sentencing. $100,000 for Aniya Wallace and $650,000 for Jabraian Howard. Now, the reason for that is because prosecutors say he is also connected to other aggravated robberies in the city. The two 15- and 17-year-old juvenile suspects were charged in juvenile court. Due to their age, those proceedings are either still under trial or sealed, and full public records are not available. The case remains part of an ongoing legal process. 15-year-old suspects, a man and woman, appeared in a Cleveland Municipal Courtroom. The other two defendants are 15 and 17 years old. In connection with this case, you are not to have any contact with the victim.
