Do you want initial on here? >> Thanks. >> Signature prisoner. >> Uh, signature initial, whatever you want. >> Scribble, whatever you got to do. That's good. >> That's fine. >> Uh, probably. But the thing, the reason why you're going to county and not getting released is cuz from what I could see right off the bat, you have two prior retail theft convictions of guilty. Two or more retail thefts of guilty, you go to county jail. And what right when I pulled up pulled up pulled it up they had >> last year. >> They had last year in 2022. >> You aware of those cases. Where' you steal from? Yeah. >> 2022. Where' you see number? Where have you >> where at? >> Walmart. >> Yeah. >> Oh boy. >> I got you. Felicia Barton was arrested for retail theft after walking past all points of sale without paying. Instead of receiving a citation and being released at the scene, she was taken to the county jail after officers discovered two prior retail theft convictions from 2022 and 2023. She was also formerly trespassed from the store and prohibited from returning. But let's take a look at how viewers reacted after watching that breathtaking situation. It's too early for her best. Girl, you know damn well you can walk. You walked from your car to the store and got your aas in that buggy. Well, look at that. Accepted she was caught. And both parties showed total respect to each other. Funny how being cooperation works, isn't it? Both were lovely humans. I hope she can turn her life around and get that jobs. Good luck to her. Voluntary statements about employment efforts or personal circumstances made after arrest can be noted in reports, but do not alter the legal basis for the charges once probable cause for retail theft and the enhancing prior have been established. Not every shoplifter knows how to remain calm and cooperate when facing handcuffs. In the next case, we'll see a completely different attitude. What happens when a shoplifter walks into the fitting room empty-handed and walks out wearing the store, then demands to be taken to jail while calling the officer a child molester? >> Cut me. Stop me. TAKE ME TO JAIL. WHAT THE? NO, I'm not listen. >> You want to go ahead and walk out this jail? I've been said that. What the talking about? I'm not listening about. I didn't told you. Take me where you got to take me. I'm going to kick them. What the going to say? >> At around 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday, January 6th, 2026, officers with the Poria Police Department were dispatched to the J C. Penney at Northwoods Mall. The suspect, 26-year-old Teriana R. Brown, was inside a women's fitting room on the second floor. >> Hello. Do you have any clothes on that you selected from J C Penney? >> The ones that's in here. >> Okay. Is this >> I need the red shirt. >> What red shirt? The one that's my sweatshirt. >> I don't have no red shirt under here. >> The Arizona one. >> What Arizona shirt? >> The one that you are wearing currently. >> First off, let's listen. Okay. >> Did you see that? >> Can I speak? >> Yes, ma'am. >> We are conducting an investigation for a shoplifting. Okay. I have not watched video. I have not spoken to him. We have not gotten any information other than you're sus. Can I speak? >> Yeah. I'm sorry. >> Do not interrupt me. >> I'm sorry. I'm sorry. >> You are a suspect in a crime. Therefore, one, you are required to identify yourself. One. That's one. So, by not identifying yourself, that is resisting. Okay. You did not after being told multiple times. >> You didn't steal anything that you let her speak and then you can speak. I >> I'm not going to play games with her. Okay. Officer Montas is a primary officer. He's going to conduct an investigation and until we figure out what's going on here, you're not coming out of handcuffs and I don't care. You keep saying they're tight. I've already checked them. They're properly fitted. I'm telling you, if you try to slip out of the handcuffs, I'll charge you with attempting escape. Okay? >> See how she scans that? She doesn't scan the other item, puts it in there, there's items in her hand, goes ahead and puts everything that's in her hand in the shirt in the bag. That item is not scanned and she puts both of them in a bag. >> Okay, >> that's the second time. I stopped him and all I told her when I found out how much it was, all I said was just go pay for it. >> I gave him the option. I don't have to do that. >> I don't have to do that. >> Okay. >> And then she got aggressive. >> Oh. So, >> but like what what she said that I probably got my in high school and I was probably going to get my right now. >> So, she was at register over here. Her friends at register over here. >> They were at the same register. >> They were together. Okay. So, she's scanning the items on her phone or with the scanner. >> She's scanning it on the >> with the scanner. Okay. So, she's scanning items. She The one that we can confirm that she placed into the bag is the $3 perfume, the pink bottle. Correct. Okay. Who uh had in with them when they walked out? Do you know? >> Um that one in the dress. >> The dress. >> The one that we press. >> Okay. >> Which she also attempted under. since her together. It's technically she should be in here too, but >> I don't care about her cuz she's the one that threatened me. >> This this would have went smooth, right? If you you would have only been trespassed from here, right? If you would have just complied, right? Now, you threatened him. So, everything everything changes. The whole dynamic you see the whole how the whole dynamic changes when we're not when you're not being cooperative. >> That's why we're here right now. >> You know why? because he started her asking me about my face because my face he started talking about >> so she have a do you have ID in here? >> Um no money like >> so it's gone came out and like straight up started because I have a tattoo on my face. He started saying something. I said why are you so angry? They went to go pay him the money cuz we didn't even know that and he just so angry about me cuz I was like you want to talk about women's face. >> All right. So what's your first one? You definitely was seen on video stealing also. So you you were >> that was >> I I need to get your first name. That way we can uh >> That wasn't me. >> I need to get your first name. Amy. >> No, that's >> Are you going to give me your first name or no? It's going to be difficult. >> You're going to be booked under John Doe. You're going to get an additional charge for resisting. You've already got two. >> You see anything? >> Please provide your identification to this officer. >> But you said I have the right to remain silent. >> Okay, cool. >> Okay. >> Right. So >> we'll take her under John Dondo and then we'll just go. >> Go ahead and get up. >> I want to press charges on him. >> That's harrest. >> That's discrimination. The situation truly exploded when officers began searching Elizabeth's purse. >> Do you guys think that I'm like really all wrong and that man's right? Like, do you think that I take a phone number out of my my phone? >> You're asking for vapors right now and you have been not cooperative this entire time. >> I cooperated with you. Not that man. Didn't you >> I apologize if that's the case, but >> I don't understand how you guys get away with it. >> That's not our job. If someone is is unfortunately not the kindest to you, then that's a problem for you to call their corporate. But as far as law enforce came at me, >> he did not come at you. We watched the footage. He did not advance on you as if to strike you. Do you have anything on you that will be introduced as contraband in the jail? Okay. Do you have a bra on? >> Yes. >> Okay. I'm going to sweep under your bra. Is there anything inside your bra? Money, lighters, phones? >> I don't know. Do you typically store items in your bra? >> Sometimes I have a lighter in there, but I don't know. >> Okay. Well, I'm >> No, I've cooperated the entire time. >> Can I put my hair up? >> No. >> You're asking for favors and you have not been cooperating with us, so we're not doing any favors for you. >> I didn't cooperate with you guys. >> Nope. >> You still haven't provided your name or date of birth. >> I told the guy my first name, my middle name, and my last name. >> What's your date of birth? Cuz that's not coming back. >> Exactly. >> I'll tell the supervisor. You'll tell the unit with a fingerprint >> scan. I'm a sergeant. >> Okay. Um I came over here with my uncle and my cousin. >> Okay. >> Drugs.com identifier. >> Put that Put that back in there. >> She's a huge bag of like huge like I think >> about what? >> So you've already been provided your rights, correct? Okay. that you understood. We talked about inside, right? You understood them at the time. You've still been talking. So, >> yeah. >> What's that bag of white powder before my officer gets exposed to fentanyl? >> What powder? I don't even know what you're talking about. >> There's a baggie. >> I There should be no baggie in my purse. The only thing that I ever do is smoke pot. There's nothing in my purse I can have. >> There is a a large bag of a powdered substance inside of your purse. >> Can you show me? >> You can lift it. Look up the bag. Show her. >> Charlie. >> Can you come closer to me? >> I don't know what that's not drugs. >> Do you have any infants? >> Do you have an infant? >> No. Any baby that has formula or something like that? >> No, I don't. That's not drugs. There's no way that What is that? Go look at it. I swear I don't >> I Okay. >> Well, we'll do our investigation. >> What is that? >> Oh, that's my ashes. That's my That's my baby's ashes. That's Those are cremation ashes. Please don't mess that up. >> That's not ashes. >> Please don't mess it up. >> Miss Amy, uh, why do you have Narcan? >> Naran? >> Mhm. >> I've always keep that on me. >> Why? >> Because I've had about like three friends die that are very close to me from high school. You don't know. I make sure I try to give that to >> precautionary. I I Okay. When I and officer Monttos made contact with you and he attempted to put you in handcuffs and you pulled away from him multiple Hold on. >> You pulled away from him. You tensed your arms and you made it difficult for him to secure you. That is resistance. >> You know what I had to give my sister >> two when I asked your name when I asked for your name and you told I guess initially at CeCe's at Cece's you told someone your name was Amy Foot. That's false identifying yourself. >> Amy Foot. >> That's what you told the officers at CeCe's. I thought she was saying tell nobody my name. >> You said Amy Foot is what there is what officer outlaw said. Then when I asked you to provide your name, date of birth to me three times and officer Monttos twice. You said no I'm not I don't have to. And you said I want a supervisor. That's what you're being charged with. And depending on what that test >> I didn't try to but you guys saw what I was doing. I would never try to take from him. I was trying to give my family my purse that was in my hand. >> Sounds good. >> All right. Put your feet up. >> And that's what I told the guy. Hey, >> are you guys trying to charge my baby my my baby dashes with heroin and fentanyl? >> Slide switch with me. >> Is somebody trying to set me up? Like, what is going on? >> Yes, ma'am. Go ahead. >> You think it's mixed? >> That is the I don't feel confident with the fentanyl kit. >> Can you double check it? That is my baby. >> But that's blue. >> Don't say that's my baby. >> There's no way there is any kind of drug for my baby. >> I hope not. You test it. Test it. You cocaine. >> Cocaine is in my You're saying there's cocaine in my baby's address? Can you double check it because I don't >> I don't have time to call your cocaine. No, that's my >> That's okay. It's going to go to FDLE for testing anyways. >> Are you guys setting me up? Is this like I didn't even do anything. You're charging me with 14 g of cocaine as my daughter. What? >> Let's do it at the PD. >> Yeah. >> Thank you. >> You're going straight in this cell though. >> Where? >> You're going right in here. There's a bathroom on that side of the wall. >> And what are you going to do with those ashes? Can you tell me? I won't say Put your hand regardless. So, just put your hand on the wall. Listen to Officer Monttos. >> I am, but I'm not regardless. I know I'm not getting them. I'm just asking them what you're doing with them. >> Submitting them for evidence. Going to Florida Department of Law Enforcement at their headquarters. Go ahead. >> Okay. And then they get all of it back. >> I have no idea what happens from there. >> That's my baby. Although Elizabeth initially faced seven different charges, she was ultimately convicted of two, resisting an officer without violence and providing a false name to law enforcement. The $3 petty theft charge was dropped under the store's policy of not prosecuting thefts under $25. She was sentenced to 2 months and one day in county jail, plus $64 in court costs. What did the audience think of this unbelievable handle? Let's go through a few standout comments. She should have stolen a full-length mirror. Just because you can buy it or steal it doesn't mean you should wear it. Missed an opportunity here. Once in a while, the suspect demands to speak to a supervisor and the cop says, "You can talk to her at the jail. It's a classic that makes my day." Refusing to identify oneself during a lawful investigation, providing a false name, or physically resisting handcuffing are separate criminal offenses. These charges often survive even when the underlying theft is minor or dropped. If Elizabeth alone was enough to give officers a headache at Walmart, the next group of suspects turned a Cole's parking lot into a full-blown battleground. What happens when shoplifterss dive under cars, claim broken backs and pregnancies, and still get caught with the unpaid merchandise scattered across the parking lot? >> Not doing anything. >> 614. >> Please give her the >> You're not going anywhere. >> I'M NOT. >> GET OUT FROM UNDERNEATH THE CAR. >> I GOT MY LEG UP HERE. >> I KNOW YOU DO. GET IT OFF MARITA THERE. >> You're hurting me. I can't breathe. >> 5x4. >> On April 9th, 2025, officers rushed to Kohl's after receiving a report of an active theft as police approached a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot. The suspect scattered and attempted to hide. Officers quickly detained a female suspect named Briana near the underside of a vehicle. >> City police, come here now. Get over here now. Move in. You guys move in here. Get over here, ma'am. I saw you. I'm telling you RIGHT NOW. >> SORRY. SORRY. SORRY. SORRY. SORRY. >> Look over here. >> I'll put them over here. >> Move up here. >> I got a couple detain. >> I'm not going. >> Well, don't put your hands out flat. >> Stop. >> 40. You guys can run a 60 over here. >> I'm not doing anything. >> I'm not moving. I promise. I'm not moving. >> I'm going to tank you if you don't. >> I'm just going to say >> I'm telling you right now to stop. >> I'm telling you. I'm just going to stay here. I promise. >> I'm not going to move. >> You're moving right now. >> I'm just trying. My back is broke. >> Why did you have to quit resisting me? >> She's not resisting. >> You're going to get another charge. >> I'm just trying to stay in, sir. >> That's all I'm asking you. >> No, you can't. Face you. >> You're not going to face me now. Stop. >> I'm not going to do this. >> Put your other hand behind your back. >> If you let me put my back, >> you're under arrest. Put your other hand behind your back. >> Come here. >> I'm going to dip you. >> I'm going to dip you on the ground. Put your other hand behind your back. >> Put your other hand behind your back. >> You're not doing it. >> I'm trying. You got my stomach. >> Put your other hand behind your back. I can see you reaching. Stop. >> The other way. >> Put your hand behind your back. >> Sir, I'm just trying to hurt. >> That's all I'm doing. >> I wish you would touch my >> 40. You're going to stay right there. >> Throw him. Throw your hand up. >> I can't get him. >> Get off of him. Let go. >> Let go. >> Let go. >> I told you three times. Now roll the over. >> You're hurting. >> ROLL OVER. >> SIR, you're hurting me. >> Roll over. >> Record. >> I am. >> Hurry. Record. Here. Get down. Break up the keys. >> GET OFF. >> MY STOMACH, BABY. >> She should turn over and jump out. >> OH MY GOD. >> OH MY GOD. >> I called my mom. He's hurting. RIGHT. >> Back up. >> Get out here right now. >> I'm just trying to REACH TO HER. YOU'RE >> YOU'RE NOT reaching anywhere. Do you understand? >> For no reason. >> Please, dude. >> I have to step under the wheel. >> There's a guy over here over there with a gun. >> I don't care. >> You will. I'm trying to be honest with you. See, the detective works better. >> Can you please let me get my leg? >> Me on the black sweatshirt. Black sweatshirt. Walking away. >> Ow. My leg. Where is he? Come here. >> Come here right now. >> Come here. >> I don't care. Stop. I'm on. I'm on. >> I'M ON YOUR BACK. Stop resisting. Now >> I'm on. >> Stop resisting. >> Right now. out. >> While Briana screamed and cried, officers searched the vehicle and detained a 14-year-old who was with the group. >> Sit right there. >> I know. >> Stop, bro. Stop bending my arms like that. Like, what are you all doing? >> You got anything on you? Weapons? >> No. >> Okay, so many sit back. hurt. >> All right, grab grab her left arm. She was in the car though. >> Just keep eyes on her. >> Yep. >> I was asleep. I literally did not even hear until I heard the cops say, "Stop moving or I'm going." That's all I heard. And I woke up. Why does he want me in the middle of it when I was asleep? >> H >> Why does he want me in the middle of >> You're in that suspect car. >> Oh, he said cuz I'm in that suspect car. >> You want to hang out with her? Hole. You want to go in there and get uh prices for these? >> What about the shoe underneath? >> You're for like >> uh That's probably another one, too. I had two suspects. One I can only control one. I don't know what happened with the other property. There should be another shoe. They probably tossed it somewhere. They both out running around the cars. >> Sir, I'll call my dad to come get me. >> How old are you? >> 14. I'm a minor. >> We'll figure all that out in just a minute. All right. refusing to give information. >> There's a customer sees in this van. She'd like to leave. >> Okay. >> It's going to be a minute. >> Okay. >> I get figured as much. >> They threw it in the back. >> Oh, never mind. >> Want to see the video to see who put those in there, too. >> These are still new, too, right? >> Yeah, those are new. There's a lot of stuff we got to figure out real quick. >> Okay. Well, when the when I get you in, >> can you move this please for me? >> Yeah. >> And crack the window cuz I'm I can't breathe. Okay. >> And I need a medic cuz my back is broken. >> Are you You said you're pregnant, too? >> Yeah. I took a pregnancy test. I should be like 8 weeks. >> Okay. If you're pregnant then um in a minute I'll move you across to the front. >> Okay. And my back's broke in the lower spot. But I've been talking to a detective because the black guy, he's been trying to get Rashan and every time he gets everybody else in trouble but not himself and he he cuts off converters or stuff. That's the reason the cops wanted him. He also has two or three trap houses on the west side. >> Realizing every escape route was blocked and that she was now facing handcuffs. Brianna suddenly made a surprising change in attitude. >> Well, I'll let you talk to our detectives. >> And in here in here um in here he picked out there's nothing in the um okay car. But in here, he said to get what he want. He says I owe him $500, which I don't cuz I've been in Whiteall. I stay in Whiteall now. So, I moved away from him and he came back recently, like 4 months ago, and he's been hounding me and stuff. And he came over and he has my 10-year-old. >> Okay. >> So, he's threatening me with my 10-year-old. He has my 10-year-old. >> All right. Well, um, let us figure this out. I'll let you talk to the detectives and stuff about this. >> Okay. I don't want to get in trouble with everything because I'm not the one that I didn't have anything on. I didn't switch my shoes and [ __ ] He I didn't have anything. >> We will figure it all out. Bad. Just hang tight. Okay. >> Okay. Can um >> and I can get a medic. >> Can you crack the window? >> Yeah, I'll roll the window down. >> And can I say anything to her? Oh, my in my car. Can they come get my car? >> We're going to figure that out. Okay. I can't answer. >> Can I? >> No. No. Okay. Hang tight. >> I know. When you go to jail, I'll roll the window >> before. Can you get that to them so they don't take it? Cuz every time I take it to jail, they throw them away. >> Yeah. I throw in the car. That's fine. Okay. Can you crack this for me, please? Cuz I can't take this. >> If um >> they already ID you? >> No. But are they letting my mom's car go? Like with a license driver or will her car? >> I have no idea. I just got here, dude. I just >> cuz I'm trying to figure out cuz my granny's on the way. >> I was just dispatched to one of my officers in a fight. So I have no idea what's going on. >> Um I was asking her what? Um >> so just give us some time. >> Cold. I was asking. >> Do you want to sit in the back of my cruiser where it's warm? Do you care if I caught you down for weapons first before I put you? >> I got my phone right here. >> I my phone. I asked her as you pull that out. >> I asked her if they was taking um your her car or if they can let you know pregnant. >> Yes, I am. >> Or if they can let you get in. She said she don't know. She just got to >> Yeah, but I just got called cuz they don't know what Nothing's going on. >> When I put you in the back, I'll just I'll I'll talk to him. Okay. Over here. >> Just have a seat like normal. Okay. Don't touch that. It It'll be fine right there. >> Watch your feet. >> Well, if you want to start busting out some charges. >> Yep. >> For her. Do >> is she locked? >> Uh she's the owner of the car of this one here. It should be logged. So, we're going to do theft. It's more than likely going to be administer. But yeah, do start working on the uh >> one. >> Uh yeah, that's all going through Franklin County. Theft, obstructing, resisting. So, I told her stop. She ran. >> Huh? I You can do the other one. >> So, obstructing and resisting. And then I'll tell them what to do on the juvenile. >> Okay. >> And then uh your >> kid's a juvenile boy. >> Yeah. >> She's 18. >> She's 18 >> over here. >> Um and pregnant and doesn't know any of her identification. And she wants to know what's happening with the car. >> I don't have anything on her. She was in the car the entire time this thing was going down. >> She wants to know what's happening with the car. I cared. It figured. Cool. All right. I'll start on that. >> Hey, did you hear what is 50? this one. >> Uh-uh. >> Unauthorized uh use RSP and he did have CCW warrant. So, do you think it could be plausible he tucked a gun somewhere? >> I mean, I don't know where he didn't get that far from the car. >> Okay. >> Yeah, he didn't get that far from the car. >> All right. Don't want to be like tucked under somewhere. A kid find it later. I I mean they stashed they stashed stuff in the back uh when he got in the car and then he got out and they made it as far as about that middle of there and then he saw a cruiser pull up here and he started walking back. >> Okay. >> So not really where you could have tucked it. >> No, unless he would have I mean unless he threw it, you know what I mean? But there was tons of witnesses. Somebody would have said it. >> Yeah. >> He tossed a gun. You know what I mean? I feel like >> I double checked that trunk one more time. >> Police identified Briana as the vehicle's owner and determined that she had directly participated in the theft. The 18-year-old was arrested and charged with theft, resisting arrest and obstructing an officer. Meanwhile, her accomplice Rashan remained wanted by police, while the vehicle and stolen merchandise were secured as evidence. In response to that outofcrol escalation, the viewers have shared some very sharp perspectives. Mayonnaise trash of the lowest, sludgiest degree. I love it when the kids start saying he's a minor. Sorry, that's not the get out of jail free card you think it is when you break the law. When multiple people are involved and merchandise is found, both on their persons and ditched in or near a vehicle, all occupants can face scrutiny under theories of joint possession or aiding, a juvenile present during the theft can be charged in the juvenile system for the same underlying conduct, plus any separate drug possession. If the Kohl's thieves went after fashion items like Crocs and socks, the man in our next case set his sights on a high-V value piece of technology in broad daylight. What happens when a man snatches a brand new iPad from a Target employees hands, sprints out the door, and runs straight toward an officer already waiting in the parking lot. A young man walked into Target and headed straight to the electronic section, asking an employee to show him a brand new iPad. But the moment the unpaid device was handed over, he suddenly snatched it from the employee and took off running. Heat. Heat. Can someone come through here? Hey That wasn't me. >> Why are you pushing me? >> Did you get hit? Did you get hit with the taser? >> No. >> Huh? I'm not resisting. >> Move. Lean. Lean forward. >> Ow. >> Oh no. It hurts. >> I'm not resisting, [ __ ] on the floor. >> Did he throw anything in here? >> No. >> Did he drop anything? >> No. >> Unfortunately for the thief, a patrol officer happened to be in the parking lot at that exact moment and immediately chased him through the nearby stores. >> Why are you pushing? Why are you >> Where's the bag at? That was in the bed. That was my That was my hoodie. That was my hoodie. >> Huh? >> Yeah. Let me see it. That's my hoodie with the iPad in it. Bro, I'm not lying to you. Walk, man. I'm walking. You're holding me, dude. >> That's why I was asking. Did he drop anything in there? I said my jacket that I had to take on my pants. >> I'm not going nowhere, >> bro. My f I'm not going noing way. >> That's it. >> Yes, bro. I can't walk, fam. I'm sorry. I can't, dude. Bro, I'm cooperating with you. >> Walk, man. 1990. Yeah. Clear. >> Sorry. Go ahead. >> Don't you? >> Yeah. Claire, walk, man. >> I'm walking, bro. You trying to bully >> move, man. Walk. >> Are you on district? Go ahead. >> This is Officer Desire. I retrieve the iPad and I got the suspect. walking back over right now. I'm >> not running, bro. >> You're not going to run cuz I caught you. >> Exactly. >> Exactly. Then >> why are you trying to push me? >> Cuz you're walking super slow. >> Cuz I was running from you. >> Exactly. You're out of shape and you're younger than me by like been there 20 something years. >> Hopefully you have a different life, bro. >> Yeah, >> you know that. Put your feet in. >> Put your feet in. >> Hey, did I connect with you on that on the taser? Did it hit you? >> They just hit the iPad. >> Huh? >> They hit on my >> They hit the iPad instead of you >> in the back. I only felt the little spark. >> Huh? I only felt a little spark on the left, on the left, right, but it didn't hurt me. It didn't hurt. >> It hit you where? >> In the back where the iPad was in this arm and you shot the iPad. >> So, they didn't check your skin. It didn't pierce any skin. >> No. >> You sure? >> I promise. >> All right. I got to know. All right. >> The suspect identified himself as Boden, 20. High as a kite serves no purpose to society, but taxpayers will support him for a majority of his life. Why should these cops chase anybody if the judges and prosecutors don't do their jobs? Providing an unclear or incomplete name during booking can complicate processing and if determined to be intentionally false, may support an additional false information charge. If the iPad theft was just an impulsive act by an unknown thief, the next case reveals months of systematic stealing by a seasoned regular customer. What happens when a longtime contractor who has already stolen more than $15,000 in building materials decides to walk back into the same Lowe's and loss prevention is waiting up. >> Mr. How tall How tall are you? >> I'm 11. And how much you weigh? >> 204. Yeah. Okay, just gonna hold on that one for a second. It's the 51. >> An ordinary day at Lowe's suddenly turned serious when loss prevention uncovered a systematic theft scheme totaling more than $15,000. The suspect was no stranger. Randall, a longtime contractor who had shopped there for years. >> Hello. >> Hi. What's going on today? So, I am actually calling to report a series of thefts that were discovered based off of uh a credit card investigation. So, let me let me pull it up. I wasn't sure what. So I have uh eight cases here that should be under one case number and it consists of a [clears throat] guy who goes to selfch checkout and he will fail to scan items um but items like doors and wards and other things along that same line. Would you like me to break down each instance or >> when did they start? So, >> when did you start doing this? What date was that? >> So, it's it's it's way it's been months. Uh, I just got here and I started looking at it. So, we're only going to do from 111 >> to capture a month period which would make it um >> uh charge then the each instance perken down. Uh so on the first um >> he uh failed to scan a biffold door, a tarp and a door set. >> Show you some photos in question. He's a contractor. who's actually been shopping at this store for years. Um, so when I do look back at the transactions, it goes for as long as I can have access to transactions, which means it's been going on a long time, but um I I can't pull video for the rest of my life on this guy. So um how would you like to I don't know, gather information? Do you want me to go down the line and show you the particular transaction issues or would you like me to send you a screenshot of the total and the date with >> Am I stressing you out? >> No, it's just anything over 30 days they're not going to look at. Well, >> the credit card is under his name. So, the case itself, >> I just spoke to the detectives before from anything over [clears throat] 30 days, they're not they're not looking at. >> So, what was what was the most recent? Let's start there. >> So, the most recent one, which I >> And [clears throat] how was this brought to Lowe's attention? >> So, a cashier actually noticed that this guy had a cart full of lumber and he had only scanned a couple pieces. And you know that happens sometimes, >> but I took that, you know, I was like, "Well, that's really odd. I feel like that would would have been occurring more frequently." >> So I I ran the credit card that he had used to purchase at the end when she had corrected him and scanned all the items for him. I uh ran that credit card in the Lowe's system to find all the other purchases that had taken place for the last few months. And I only focused on the month within the 30 days to look at all the other transactions in which uh similar occurrences had happened. He comes in here like every other day. Um on the most recent occurrence in which he did do this, I actually saw him in person, but it was only at the tail end. I saw him exit the building >> and I uh wasn't. >> So, what's the most What's the most recent? >> It is 127 355. >> So, he goes through checkout, selfch checkout. He doesn't scan >> most of what he has. >> Okay. [clears throat] Um, I actually did talk to, um, ironically enough, I don't know if you know who, um, well, one of the state prosecutors was in here earlier and I mentioned this case to him and I asked him, "Hey, I plan on filing it this way." He's like, "Yeah, that's exactly what you should do." So, I'm just tossing that out there. But, um, yeah, they're here they are. Um, I can give you the breakdown by day. I know that, >> well, it's individual incidents, so >> I was told they should all be under the same case. Yeah. >> Um, Detective Schilling and the uh prosecutor I spoke to earlier today. >> Um, because of the 30-day period and I know that, you know, you haven't been taking cases because of that type of issue, but because it goes back to his credit card, which is undeniably him, I think there's a lot less plausible deniability on who it is. Uh he also has a rewards account with us that he likes to use too. So that's >> nice. >> I'm a late start. But Kayla, you had yours on. Okay, perfect. >> So >> when Randall returned to Lowe's, loss prevention immediately alerted police who moved in and detained him right in the middle of the store. >> Okay. Well, I'm not concerned about that. So I need to see your ID. We're uh >> grandpa, >> Mr. Rand, how tall are you? How tall are you? >> 5'11. And how much you weigh? 204. Okay. >> Okay. Just going to hold on that for a second. Just the 51. Okay. Uh, want to issue a trespass? >> I'm going to go down here and talk to David, but >> No, you're not. >> She's in charge. She makes the decision. You're being issued a trespass warning for it right now. >> If you come back on the property for a period of one year, you'll be arrested. >> What is this? I'm in here buying stuff through my pro account and business every day. Not having an issue. I just only trespass. >> You're just going to be trespassed right now for up to a year. So, I just don't want you to come back onto the property, whether that's to purchase anything or not. >> Okay. I'm going to go back and go with my >> Okay. No, you're not. You're you're fitting to put your stuff down and you're going to be escorted out of the store. If you come back on the store for a period of 1 year, you'll be arrested. >> Hold on. Hey, what? Come here. I didn't say leave yet. Okay. Don't make this more difficult than it needs to be. Currently, right now, what's happening is you're just going to be issued a trespass warning. I'm not finished with you. I'm waiting some for more information to come through. Once that information comes through and I make sure that you're free to go, you're free to go. Until then, you're being detained by me. You understand? >> Detective Remo from the Palmer County Sheriff's Office arrived and formally arrested Randall for grand theft. the pro counter and the store manager what they tell you standing there talking to somebody right now trying to figure this out now >> okay >> I mean the thousands of dollars I spend in here on a daily basis >> hey I we only do what they tell us to do they don't want you in they want an issue I got to do what they ask >> cuz I'm in here it's four of us work together we shouldn't thousands of dollars a year. >> Okay. >> Well, if the store manager decides to lift it, he can lift it. That's his decision. >> But until they they make that decision and everybody gets their ducks and everyone out, >> you're going to have to wait for me. >> How you doing, Mr. Randall? >> All right. >> Good. I'm Detective Rainbow with Palmer County Sheriff's Office. >> Being placed under arrest right now for a grand tax. >> Okay. What did I steal? >> Uh there's a couple different incidents in the last couple months where you've gone to scan things out in the store. and you don't pay for everything. >> Bend over, bring up to the register as quick as I can. Okay. >> Okay. Um, if you like, we'll go to an office here real quick and talk about it. I'll show you all the pictures and everything. Um, the loss prevention officers here have done their due diligence and research. >> Provided complete surveillance video and everything of you at the register with a copy of each receipt for each time you've scanned something at the register. And compared to what's on the cart you push out the store and what you scan and pay for, >> turn your >> are two different things. >> So, start trying to make it as comfortable as I can for you. Okay. >> Mhm. >> Do you have a car here? >> Yes. >> Where's it at? >> Outside by the truck is outside by the >> Here by yourself. >> Yep. >> Um Can I have someone go and pick it up? >> Do you want us to take all your personal property and put it in your truck and lock it up? >> Yeah. >> What are you okay with that? >> Yeah. >> This truck keep my wife. >> Randall was later arrested on a felony grand theft charge. In court, the contractor received 15 years of probation and was ordered to pay $15,000 in restitution to Lowe's. We've compiled the most interesting viewer perspectives on this incident. Let's see if you share the same viewpoint. Awkward conversation with the loss prevention manager and cop. It was hard to watch. It's even worse that he was a contractor. He would have been making his clients pay full price for the supplies. Greedy POS. A formal trespass warning is independent of the theft charges. Returning to the property during the ban period creates a separate criminal trespass offense. Comment below which case you found the most interesting.
