During a routine traffic stop in Orlando, Florida, deputies pulled over a 22-year-old man driving a tinted Infinity. What started as a simple traffic violation quickly escalated when deputies found not one but two firearms, drugs, and more inside the car. >> We can get stops, too. Those tents are really dark, my 15. Yeah. >> Are they? I'll double check them, but they look dark. >> I just want to make everybody comfortable. You guys were smoking, right? >> Um, not right now. >> Earlier. >> Yeah, like a while ago. >> It's loaded, bro. >> No, that's the mag in it. >> On May 13th, 2025, Orange County Sheriff's deputies conducted a traffic stop on Seamaran Boulevard after noticing a blue Infinity with heavily tinted windows and a covered license plate. The driver was identified as 22-year-old Danny Cruz Jr., the registered owner of the vehicle. When asked to step out, crews admitted he had a firearm on him. Deputies secured a loaded Glock 19X from his waistband. With a passenger, Mark Oavdo, also inside, deputies conducted further checks. That's when things took a turn. [Music] I know, man. Can you lower all the windows for me? >> Yeah. Can I hop out? I have my license. >> Yeah. You want to do that, man? You want to turn the car off and hop out for me? We're going to get stopped, too. Those tents are really dark, my 15. >> Are they? I'll double check them, but they look dark. >> No worries. Here, let me hop out for you, sir. >> Sorry. >> You're good, man. It's illegal. >> Yeah, you can have anything on the front windshield. There's like an AS1 line like probably about like here. Says right here, AS1. It would say it on yours, too. AS1. Nothing below that is legal on the front. Anything above that is fine. Okay. Um >> See, yeah. When he told me he was like, "Yeah, 15% should be all good all around." He was like, "What do you want to do on it?" 15. I was like, "Yeah, I'll do 15." >> Gotcha. Okay. You want to just hang out here? >> Yeah. >> Hey, Eric. You want to just go ahead? >> Yeah. So, buddy, you got an ID on you? >> Yeah. >> You mind reaching for it? >> You looking at my truck? So, what are you looking at my vehicle? >> Well, the car kind of smells like weed. >> You guys were smoking, right? >> Um, not right now. >> Earlier. >> Like a while ago. >> Unfortunately, it's still illegal in Florida. Go ahead and take it from me. >> Until it gets legal, you're going to need your medical marijuana license. You have that with you? >> You do? Can I see that as well? >> Thanks, sir. >> And the stuff you were smoking was in the prescribed container. earlier. >> No, >> I said I didn't smoke any. >> You didn't smoke any? >> That's what I just said. I told you he didn't smoke. >> Okay. >> Smoke earlier. >> Smoked earlier, right? >> Which was like at least 2 hours. >> Okay. >> Firearm on you. >> No. All right. Go ahead. Step out, sir. >> We're step right back here. All right. >> Yeah, man. I Here we go. >> Any tickets or anything before, ma'am? >> Um, no. Oh, just I just want to make everybody comfortable. I got sealed and everything. >> I got you. >> Yes, sir. >> Anything else on you? >> Uh, no. That's >> Yeah, man. When I went >> drugs, any other weapons in the car, anything like that? Okay. >> I got the tent and all, man. You told me. >> Oh, yeah. I'm just going to pat you down real quick. Just this car >> all the way. Oh, sorry. >> You're going to just making sure that's all. >> Yeah, man. It was weird. I got it about let's say a month ago the tank. Everything should be good. Okay. >> Hey, it's all good, man. All right. Real quick for me, man. Just hang on over there on the the mulch. You too, man. >> Yeah. I'm just going to test your window t for you, bro. That's all. >> Without power. >> Is the key still in there? >> No. You mind if I Oh, sorry. >> You just got to tap the button and click it. [Music] 25. >> So in the front it's 25 >> in the front 25 >> like front. No, no. Like I said, nothing can be on the windshield besides I said that AS1 line I said >> I I'm not I can't test the back. >> Yeah. >> Okay. So the back's good. It's 50%. So the front, >> but these but I'm saying when I say front, I'm talking about your driver and passenger windows. 1151. [Music] Real quick, man, before I search through your car and everything, cuz it smells like weed. Do you have anything else in the car I should know about, bro? >> Yeah, it smells like Yeah, I'm going to search you. >> I'm just giving I'm giving you like honesty goes a long way, right? So, I'm just giving you an opportunity. >> No, you don't have to give it to me, but is there anything in the car? >> The glove box. There's just like three parts, those personal parts. That's it. Okay. >> For my back. >> Okay. [Music] I just got off and there's no pitching. This is like Let me [Music] tell you, we have a patient. All right. The male is in room 4121 at the hospital. He was telling the call taker that there was a student. I'm coming to the school in danger and they're going to check on me. You refuse to put a nurse on the phone. [Music] >> Unlock the car. >> Yeah, unlock it and then >> and then try go next to him though. Get close to the button. >> There we go. >> There you go. >> Just some speakers. >> A little bit too much. >> It's loaded, bro. >> No, that just has mag in it. It's not loaded. >> Huh? You built it or >> No, I bought a pomemetto. Uh, it's called Pomemetto based. Uh, >> steak. [Music] I make sure all my name all. >> Is there a serial number on this thing? >> That one? Yeah, there should be. I bought it straight from them. I got it from them. >> Who's them? Pome. >> Oh, okay. >> Yeah, I got it online. >> I got it. >> I don't have good, man. [Music] >> That's what I'm saying. I didn't see I didn't see you guys at all. Um, >> real quick, man. Can you just stand up here for me? >> You got anything else on? You can stay sitting there. No. Did they scuff on them? I'm just going to I know I patted you down. I'm just going to like search you real quick. >> Okay. >> You're not under arrest right now. Okay, man. You're just detained. [Music] >> Records request. [Music] >> Anything else on you, bro? Nothing like that. >> Just some stuff in my bag. >> I was in a car accident. >> What's that? >> I was in a car accident, so I smoke weed in my bags and stuff. >> I got you. Still, I mean, when you're transporting the weed, though, you got to have it in the proper containers and whatnot. Not wrapped up in a baggie of tobacco leaves. >> Also, not supposed to be carrying a firearm when you're in >> when you're carrying marijuana, >> even if it's with you. Mhm. Just going to spray your feet for me, man. Anything up in your groin? No. >> Um, just for now, man, I'm going to have you sit in the car. Okay. I'll get you out as soon as I can. Okay. >> All right. Am I able to call my mom or my phone's on top of the car just to let her know the situation and all that? >> Yeah, we'll work on that in a few minutes. Okay. [Music] >> Yes, ma'am. Yes. What are you on probation for, if you don't mind me asking? >> Um, >> it turned into supposedly fleeing and eluding, but it wasn't. I was um on Dean, you know, Dinez. >> Mhm. >> Um, and I was just going fast enough and I guess a state trooper saw me on that. >> You hop for ma'am. Do you have anything on you? Were you searched or not? >> Yeah, he searched. >> I I patted him down. >> Patt them down. Okay. I'm going to do a quick search of you, man. Make sure you don't have anything on you. Okay. Come here. Look him up. Dude, just be honest with me now. You got anything? >> Okay. You want to just grab the bomber there? >> Yeah. Go down. >> So, a state trooper lit you up and then >> Yeah, he was on the other side and I mean on the video you can see he was on a he was on the other side of a um a van and um what's it called? Yeah, I mean I didn't see him. I was going literally 80. I could have went up to like 90 and it was 45. You know, it wasn't a smart decision, but had the same car as him. I do mechanics of my own. And um yeah, I daily these cars for for a while. And um >> what the police car, >> huh? the police car? >> No, no, the car right behind you. >> Oh, then I took a car. But yeah, so I mean I helped them build it. That's why I was taking it apart. It was just a cabin filter. >> Um but for the most part, yeah. Um it turned into that and um I went ahead and got it dealt with and it went down to reckless driving and >> so I only got a year of probation and then um 6 months of suspension, but it's already >> Oh, so you're on reckless driving or fleeing looted? >> On reckless driving? breakfast, >> but I used to be honest with you. You know what I'm saying? So, >> I appreciate it. >> But yeah, I mean, you know what I'm saying? >> Um, no, but he's like my brother, so ain't nothing. >> Gotcha. >> But, um, >> and then you only got a little bit of that left. >> What? >> The probation? >> Yeah, I got like um six more months, I believe it is. >> Only a year um last year on the 11th. Yes, in November. Um >> November. >> Yeah, November. So, 11th. Um, >> yeah, you're you're halfway there. >> Yeah, right. That's what I'm saying. So, >> yes. >> Hi. What's your first name? >> Danny. >> Danny. All right. Like I said, you're not under arrest right now. Okay. I'm just trying to conduct a little bit of investigation, kind of dig into things a little bit further to kind of help me make my decision on what I'm going to do here. Okay. So, before I talk to you though, I got to read your Miranda rights. Okay? You ever seen like cops and all that kind of stuff? Like TV shows, they they read their rights and all that kind of stuff. That's all I'm going to read to you real quick. Okay? And then we'll go from there. Okay? So constitution requires I inform you that you have the right to remain silent. Anything you say will be used in court as evidence against you. You are entitled to you are entitled to talk to an attorney now and have him present now or at any time during question. You cannot afford an attorney. One will be appointed for you without cost. Do you understand those rights? Yes. >> Okay. With these rights in mind, do you wish to have a conversation with me right now? >> All right. Cool. So tight. They're like cutting my circulation. >> I'll check them in a second, man. >> You're good. >> Uh so you were pulled over. The tins are I said we already discovered that, right? tints were illegal on the car, the front windshield, the both sides, and you also have the uh plate cover, which I didn't recognize at first, my partner did. So, all that is >> against Florida State statute when it comes to uh vehicle violations. Okay, so that is the reason for the stop. All right. >> Um the smell of marijuana gives us the ability to search the vehicle. Okay. Uh I appreciate you being honest with me about the firearm on your person. So, I'm going to That's why I'm kind of like trying to work with you a little bit here. Okay. Um the We'll start with the pistol. Where did you buy the pistol from? >> Well, the ARP or my Glock >> the the Glock you had on you? >> Uh, Academy Sports. >> You bought it at Academy Sports. Okay. Um, do you have a concealed carry or No, >> I do not. >> Okay. All right. You don't need one. >> Did you know it was in the trunk of the car? >> I completely forgot. I've >> All right. You forgot you had it in the trunk of the car. When did you buy that? >> The AR? >> Yes. >> Same. The same day I bought it for about a month, >> but not from Academy Sports. >> No, I bought it from Palmetto Bay. Is that like an apartment complex or >> No, it's online metal bay armor.com. It's like a reseller. They sell like a like I bought it off. >> I got you. It's just one of those odd things is usually firearms have serial numbers on them. When it doesn't have a serial number, it kind of raises a little bit of concern as to where it comes from. Now, ghost guns aren't necessarily illegal to possess, per se, but it obviously we want to try to figure out and get a little bit more information on it because it's not really trackable and we just got random guns running around out here committing crimes that aren't the easiest to track for us. It's not beneficial to us for our investigations and all that kind of stuff. So, that's all. So, that's why I'm trying to get some information there. That's all. >> Deputies noticed the strong odor of marijuana coming from the car. Crews admitted there was a joint inside. After both men were patted down, a full search of the vehicle began. Deputies discovered loose cannabis, a vape pen containing THC wax, and a roll joint. But the biggest discovery came from the trunk, an unmarked AR- style pistol with no visible serial number. Both weapons were loaded, though neither had a round chambered. When questioned, Cruz admitted he had purchased both firearms within the last month, one from a sporting goods store and the other online. He also admitted he smoked marijuana daily, but his medical marijuana card had expired. I'm just going to talk to you about this rifle real quick because I'm a little bit more familiar with it. Like I said, I do build rifles, so I mean I have a little bit of knowledge with these. You said you got this from Palmetto State. >> Okay. The only problem that I'm having with with that story, and I'm not saying you're lying. I just trying to get a little bit more information is that Palmetto State only sells 80%. 80%. You know what 80% is, right? >> You know what 80%? >> I'm not I bought it on a sale that that it came to my house. That's what I'm saying. >> This came to your house? >> Yeah, I'm new. I'm new. They came built like this to your house. >> They came built. >> Okay. So, you can't ship guns like this to houses. >> That's how I got it. Straight from them >> from Palmetto City. >> They went to a dealer and then it came to my house. >> Well, it went to a dealer. >> Oh, yeah. Then it came from Yeah. >> Okay. So, what dealer did you go to? >> It went to um No, um >> like a pawn shop or >> It was like a pawn shop. Yeah, >> it was a pawn shop. Yes, sir. So, you had it shipped to the pawn shop and then what? >> Explain to me how that went. >> Like, how did you get it from the pawn shop? >> Oh, I went there, checked it out, and I asked them to take it to my house because I was one of spring vacation and then take it to my house. >> Did you have any like services done on it or anything like that? No. >> They didn't like offer you to put sights on it or muzzle brakes or anything like that? >> No, sir. I bought it as is from them and that that was it >> from Palmetto State? Okay. >> Yes, sir. So, Palmetto State sent it to this gun shop or pawn shop rather. All right. So, Palmetto State doesn't sell 80%s that are already mil. Okay. >> So, this is mil. See how it's silver here? All right. So, the only way to do that is if you have a milling device or a drill and you took your time and drilled all this out. That's why it's shiny and not black. >> Yeah, I have. >> Okay. They don't sell these. Palmetto State doesn't sell this already mil. They only sell the 80%. So when you're saying that you bought this straight from Palmet estate, it doesn't make any sense cuz I've built so many guns from Palmet State and you can't get it milled like this because it's illegal for them to ship it like this. >> Well, I'm just telling you how it is. They I bought it as a sale from them. I looked up Blackout AR sales. That's what popped up from the website and I ordered it. >> Right. And do you have that receipt on your phone that we just >> on my phone though? It's on your phone. >> Yeah, it's on my house. I just >> receipt. >> The receipt? >> Yeah. >> Okay. I keep all >> Well, didn't you order it online though? >> What happened? >> You ordered it online? >> Yeah, through a computer. My computer I have personal desktop. >> Yeah. And then you had to provide an email. Is it possible for you to pull up that email where they sent you a order confirmation, shipping, stuff like that? Just so we can >> I mean, I could check. I I don't know if I have that email on my phone. I just got a new phone about that phone. >> Well, you got the same email though. >> No. Yeah, but I don't know if I have that email in that phone. I have five different emails. >> Mhm. >> Okay. whereas it's not illegal to have an 80% in Florida at the time. Uh they are working to make it illegal, but it's not right now. So I can't do anything with you. >> Um but it's just suspicious because >> No, I hear you, sir. 100% >> cuz ghost guns obviously have their own >> Yeah. What's that? >> You know, that means it doesn't have a serial number on it. >> Oh, >> or handle. Perfect. >> While they transport it, this is the weed. Maybe I can put the whole thing in. You don't have the scale ready again, do you? >> Uh, I fell out of my car and blasted into a million pieces yesterday. >> Oh, actually, no. I have a second one. Never mind. I weighed it, but I didn't write it down when I weighed it. I want to say it was like 12 and then the joint was like one. It was like 13 total. So, I put the joint in here. So, we just weigh it all together now. 133. Perfect. Um, and then I'll give you the other gun. the pistol what he had on him as well. >> And then yeah, you just want to hold that for now and then we'll go from there. >> Just leave the holster. >> If it had a stock on it, then it would be a whole different story. But >> that's what I'm saying. I don't know anything about it. I mean, I don't I didn't even know. >> So So our plan for now is we're if you would like to, we'd like you to have you move the car into one of these parking spaces. You're on private property. You can't be arrested for driving on this. And you know that's what we'd like you to do so we don't so we don't have to tow it. >> That's I don't know if you already explained that to you but >> he doesn't want his phone and stuff. >> I'm bringing that he's >> Can I get up? >> Yep. >> Take these your license is suspended so you can't drive. He said that you have his sister's number. So, >> should I ask someone for it? Cuz I should >> I can get it if you don't have the same. [Music] >> I don't think he knows how to spell. >> Do you mind if I tell him real quick? Just screaming out the window or something? >> Yep. Give me one second, man. [Music] carry weapon, please. >> Yes, ma'am. >> In total, deputies recovered a Glock 19X handgun, an unmarked AR- style pistol, 13.3 g of marijuana, THC wax vape pen. Cruz was read his Miranda rights and admitted to possession. He was booked into the Orange County Jail on the following charges. Possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony, possession of tetrahydroinabonol, and possession of less than 20 g of marijuana. His infinity and keys were released to the passenger at the scene. Cruz was transported to the Orange County Booking and Release Center without incident.
