BACK UP. GO. GO. I'M ASKING FOR HIS BACK. BACK UP. I'M ASKING FOR HIS BACK. GIVE ME your >> Stop here. >> You can't do that. >> Stop. >> WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU? >> PUTTING YOUR HANDS BEHIND YOUR BACK. >> OKAY. Give me her phone. >> No. >> Stop. >> No. You're not giving your phone to anyone. >> Breaking my wrist. >> Then stop moving. On July 31st, 2022, after midnight, police officers received some calls regarding some people hanging outside their home and making some noise. Moments later, several officers arrived at the location, and it didn't take them long before taking some decisive actions. >> Hey, who lives here? >> Who's the owner I can talk to? Who lives here? >> I got nothing. >> This ain't got nothing to do with us. >> I'm asking who lives here. >> This house got me a party. >> Why y'all coming so close? Arrest him. Him. Him. And >> Arrest him. I don't want to leave. Are you arrested? >> You don't leave. You're arrested. >> DON'T TOUCH ME. I AIN'T DO THAT TO Y'ALL. What did you mean? Why you pushing me off the >> Don't stay back. Don't stay back. >> Arrest these guys. Fail to disperse. Fail to disperse. there. >> Y'all can't do that to me. >> Yeah. Don't jump. I'll just grab you. Don't. You're fail. This first charge, bud. >> Get down. Get down. You're going to fall. >> You're going to hurt, dude. Just get down and you're hurt. >> You're hurt. Put your hands behind your back. What are you doing? What you're doing? You're not recording. You're going to jail. Our camera's recording for you. >> What do you mean? We ain't doing nothing. >> Yeah, you're refing to disperse. We told you you're going to the house. You're out here. Run your mouth and you're causing a scene of obstructing official business. >> I never said nothing. >> My goodness. You guys, if you guys just follow rules porch, >> I don't have nothing to do with that. You're not listening to me. >> It's buddy porch though. >> I don't know who that is. >> Is it your house? No. Then go in the house then. You were told to go in the house. >> It's my brother. Huh? >> I don't got nothing else. It's buddy pork. Kiss me ass. We >> got 11 >> what makes this racist isn't someone saying an ugly word on tape. [music] It's the workflow. Treat a black neighborhood like a crime scene. Interpret slow compliance as defiance. [music] Assign guilt by proximity. Then call it order. When the only people who get empathy are the ones already in uniform, you're not keeping the peace. You're choosing a side. >> All right, let's you guys in the back of cars. >> Are you pulling a car up? Someone pulling cars up. >> I Okay, I'll explain to you. >> I stood here and I told everybody to go in the house. Are you going to let me explain or you going to talk over me? >> You didn't see me. >> Stop. Talk. Don't talk over me. Let me explain it first. >> I stood here. I told everybody in here either go in the house or or leave. I also asked who the homeowner was so I knew who lived here so I could talk to that individual to take responsibility for his home to make sure everybody got inside the house or left. >> As after I said that, nobody moved. I said, "You're going to jail if you don't move." Nobody moved. >> AND THEN AND THEN and then I walked away. Hold on, bud. >> You're on the porch. You didn't go in the house. >> Excuse me. >> You didn't go in the house. >> I told you the house. I told you to leave. You stood on the porch. Everybody stood on the porch. Going to jail. Failure to disperse. Obstructing official business. Disorderly conduct. There's all kinds of things you guys did that were wrong. Okay, then that's what it happened. That's all. That's all it was. If everybody would just listen to what we say and just go and leave, we wouldn't have to anybody. EVERYBODY SEE THESE. LOOK, I got on white. You ain't see these white shoes. I LITERALLY just came out here. I don't know what the You feel me? >> Literally, >> I can't hear you. >> I just took a screaming. I can't hear you. >> I can put it in the house and put it. >> It's fine. >> But my hair not >> literally >> it says >> you didn't see these white. >> Why are you yelling? Why are you yelling? >> Because sir, you >> Nobody else is yelling at you. You're yelling at everybody else. You're going to jail. >> I just came outside. >> Well, you should have stayed inside. >> I didn't I didn't know you said >> you didn't see all the police officers out here telling everybody to leave. >> I didn't I didn't hear you say your instructions of like who went >> You didn't see all the police officers telling everybody to leave. >> I didn't hear you. >> You don't think that was enough of a hint to know maybe go in the house? >> Oh, yeah. I sent you guys down there. >> Then go in the house. Then go in the house. That how that's how you don't get in trouble. >> You're right. I didn't hear you say that though. That's what I'm saying. >> According to the cops, these guys were being disorderly and they plan to disperse them. Badge numbers are public record. Asking for one is literally a constitutional right. But for black citizens, asking for transparency suddenly equals resisting arrest. That's the racial double standard in full view. >> Guys, get in the car and leave. Let's go. >> Guy, bud, get in the truck and leave. >> Okay, I will get them next. I need you to go first. >> If I see you out of the truck, you're going to jail. Go home, please. >> Ladies, where are you going? You're not standing here and talking. >> You got to do it another time. Then grab then start walking away. >> The driver might have went to jail. I don't know where the driver went. Let's just go. Can y'all shut UP AND LET'S GO GET IN THE CAR. >> SOMEBODY DRIVE THE CAR. >> Somebody can drive the car and you can find her later and pick her up. >> She's clearly not here in the car and just quit arguing. Just shut up. Let's just go. They don't even care about nothing. Let us go. >> You're 100% right. I want everybody to home safe. You just want us to go. You don't care. So, you're safe or nothing. Let's just go, right? >> I want you all to be safe. Hit that curb. You so close. Oh man. >> One after another, all of them found themselves in handcuffs as the cops started to get control of the situation. The officer was only interested in sending everyone home and was behaving like a tyrant. >> GO HOME. >> GO [screaming] HOME. I'M NOT TALKING TO YOU. >> HE'S GOT A GUN IN his waistband, I think. I can't tell. You trying to shoot on a push for We ain't doing nothing. >> I'm not talking to you. Was I? >> I'm talking to people who don't live here. >> Ladies, where are you going? You're going not going there. You're going somewhere else. >> I know. That's our car. >> Where's that at? >> Have some respect for yourself. >> LET'S GO. >> TIME to move. Let's go. Listen to the way these officers talk. Profanity, yelling, mocking the people of this community like it's some kind of [music] joke. Then saying failure to disperse like it's the go-to charge when you can't articulate a crime, but you still want control. [music] Translation: The system doesn't care about bruises. It only cares if you sound polite while giving them. >> Go right now. Go. >> Little bit of energy. Yes, you can. Little bit of energy. We're not running for nobody. Sorry for anybody. >> You're not WALKING BACK UP TO THAT HOUSE. TURN BACK AROUND. >> I DON'T CARE. >> NO. NO. GO. >> HEY. NO. You can't. >> I can take her out to jail. I don't give a >> FAILURE TO DISPERSE. GET THE OUT NOW. >> GO. >> Not all you guys live here. Nice try. >> Shocking. >> In some broke down vacant ass house. >> Quick reality check. If body cams are about transparency, why does every big clip look like a personality test for who deserves dignity? The crowd gets lectured, the black woman gets cuffed, and the policy memo gets weaponized after the fact. That's not safety. That's choreography. >> Where my boys at? I don't see them. >> Right there. Right here. >> Where at? >> Who lives here? >> Y'all know we do this. >> Who's the owner I can talk to? Who lives here? >> I got this ain't got nothing to do with us. I'm asking who lives here. >> Arrest him. Him him. >> My house. Don't touch. Don't touch me. I >> Why you pushing me off? Do that. >> Turn around. >> Turn around. >> TURN AROUND. BACK. STAY BACK. >> Thank you. >> I got a light up there. >> Hey, they tripping. You feel me? >> Because none of you guys follow directions. I just came outside. Y'all ain't seen me out here. >> HOLD ON. LET ME TALK TO SOMEBODY. Y'ALL DIDN'T just see me right here. I just LITERALLY >> Watch how quick the cops flip from who lives here to arrest him, him, and them too. No [music] investigation, no patience. Just round up the nearest black bodies and call it failure to disperse. That's not policing. That's profiling with handcuffs. >> Take a step back for me. >> Yes, ma'am. Yes, ma'am. >> Man, we got to go, too. >> I got I got a little bag of right there. >> That is not a little >> I ain't going to lie. >> That's not a little bag. >> A little bag. That's all I got. A little bag. Little bag. >> That's my phone. >> Yep. All >> there. It's all in there. >> Thank you. >> Go ahead and have a seat. >> Have a seat or it goes to the car, man. Cuz I don't know, man. Look. >> What is this is for you? >> Right here. Can I have a seat right here? What you want me to do, man? >> What are we doing? >> Okay. Those aren't empty chance. They're real-time reactions to being manhandled for existing outside their house. When people have to scream Black Lives Matter while being shoved into cars, it tells you exactly why this clip hit the headlines. >> Matter of fact, hey, can I can I get my brother my stuff? >> No. >> No. >> No. I'm I'm talking I'm talking about my uh phones and my money. That's all I'm talking about. >> I don't I don't I don't I don't want them to um What's his name, man? I ain't trying to put my on that card, man. You know, y'all text every dollar. I need every dollar. >> Damn, man. He know he ain't seen me on that porch, man. You feel me? Like, I ain't hear that talking about >> the fact that that entire house wants to play games. You guys want to run your mouth and act hard? This is what happens. >> It's cool, man. >> We got a car behind us. Which car I'm going to? The one on the street or the one on the left? >> Well, all of them are in streets. >> Same way you're going to GO TO JAIL IF YOU DON'T LEAVE. >> BLACK LIVES MATTER. >> BLACK LIVES. >> GOODBYE. HAVE A GREAT NIGHT, >> MAN. >> DAMN, MAN. >> HEY, NO, MAN. >> TIME TO GO. MISS LADY, CAN I just please my um my phone and >> No, man. Cuz they going to put everything on the card, man. >> You're lucky if Vice isn't going to take it. Honestly, >> I feel you. >> I mean, you already know. >> I feel you, man. >> I'm just being honest. >> But hang on. >> I don't I don't Why would you have to take it? >> That'll be up to a detective. Hey, >> they don't see me over here, so hey. First day I come here and I get booked. >> This is out of control. >> Go ahead and have a seat. All of this is going to go in a bag for you. >> Right here. >> No, I have >> No, you don't. >> Oh, what is that? My keys. Oh, I I No, my little brother need them keys. Please, let me just tell him. Like, >> can I just tell somebody to give him to my little brother and then you feel me? Have a seat. >> However, among these people, Olympic boxer O'Shea Jones also had come out of her house and was demanding some answers from the cops. She had no idea what was about to happen to her. >> Careful. Pat, >> BACK UP. GO. >> I'M ASKING. [screaming] I'M ASKING FOR HIS BACK. I'M ASKING FOR HIS BACK. GIVE ME YOUR PHONE. NOPE. NOPE. >> Stop here. >> You can't do that. >> Back the up. >> WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU? >> PUTTING YOUR HANDS BEHIND YOUR BACK. >> OKAY. GIVE ME HER PHONE. >> NO. >> I'm not asking FOR THAT BAD. >> STOP. >> NO. YOU'RE NOT GIVING your phone to anyone. >> BREAKING MY WRIST. >> THEN STOP MOVING. >> STOP. >> MOVING. >> Stop cussing AT ME. COME. LISTEN. ANGRY. YOU ANGRY. >> Just stop twisting. Angry. All I'm saying she squeezing. >> Quit twisting. Quit turning. You're just >> Would you quit moving? Stop. Cut your face. She just hit me. YOU JUST HIT THAT. SHE JUST HIT ME. SHE JUST HIT ME. SHE JUST HIT ME IN MY FACE. YOU got that? I got I got I got right here. Right here. >> She really just hit me in my face. >> You're supposed to be an Olympic boxer. Look how you're acting. Yeah. You're used to >> fast. Oh, mine. You were talking about mine. That's 355. >> What car you guys? >> Um, I have someone in mine. >> Okay. >> To be an Olympic box. >> Oh, I didn't I didn't know you me cuz she yelled in front of my >> Oh, yeah. Well, you shouldn't not act out like that. >> I didn't act out. What I was hearing was my my words. >> Super disappointed. I'm disappointed in you for not doing your job the right way. For not doing your job the right way. >> All right, have a seat in there. Listen this time. >> Jones does what any normal taxpaying citizen would do. She asks for an officer's badge number. That's it. Not a weapon, not a threat, not a flying left hook, just four syllables, badge number. But apparently in Toledo, [music] that's the cheat code for instant arrest. >> Just stay back. You got to stay back, ma'am. Stay back with the baby. You got Okay, YOU STILL GOT TO STAY BACK. STOP WITH THE BABY. >> MY KID. >> OKAY, that's fine. That's fine. Stay there. Stay back. >> Okay. Okay. YOU'RE NOT GOING TO ARM. His arm is messed up. >> Okay. Stay step back with the baby. >> Let him get it figured out. Just stay there. >> Oh my god. GET OFF OF HIS BACK. HIS BACK GOT BULLETS IN IT. HE CANNOT SIT ON HIS BACK. >> HE needs to stop. Just Just stay back. >> But you ain't GOT TO DO ALL THIS. >> YOU'RE NOT HELPING. >> They can't sit on the porch. The most mind-wingisting part, the department later admits the female cop used foul language during the arrest [music] and then pats itself on the back by calling the force justified because nothing says professional policing [music] like cussing out an Olympic athlete while bending her arm behind her back for daring to ask what her given public right was. >> No, I just got a question. >> No, I got a question. Why did they go to jail? >> YOU CAN ASK THEM THAT. >> WHY DID Why did they go to jail? Ma'am, I was not the one arresting. Just keep walk. >> I'm sure. Okay. >> Black lives matter. >> The footage shows officers making physical contact with Jones that critics described as a strike while she was cuffed. That frame, camera on, force used, is what turned this from a local arrest into a public debate about excessive [music] force. >> So, yeah. Um I I have no idea what was going on up on the porch. I was not involved in any of that stuff. So I >> I can't even stand on the porch. I don't understand how all this >> and that's what I happened. >> I have no idea. I was I was not one of >> neighbors just like everybody. We're neighbors just like everybody else. I don't understand how all this happened. Like he was like >> we are in the street. He said that he wasn't listening. That's why he got arrested. >> Oh, he's going to get an obstruction. He's going to resist an arrest. But we got cameras, so it's okay. Listen, we got cameras. >> So, let's go pull THIS CAMERA SO YOU CAN WATCH HOW Y'ALL ACTIONS work so y'all can get your BABY >> OR MAYBE SHUT UP. >> How about that? >> Regardless, he's going down. You can't talk to him right now. He He'll be out. >> What did he go down for? He was on the court. >> He just told you when you know that. Come on, bro. >> I mean, we weren't over there, so we don't know. Like he not he not say yes or no arrest resisting arrest. YEAH. I MEAN THAT'S MY PORCH. >> I UNDERSTAND. >> Why would I Why would you yank me off my porch? >> I GET YOU GUYS ARE UPSET BUT we weren't there. >> Yeah, I understand that. But it don't matter. We got Oh, Shay. JUST GO GET THE CAMERA. GO RUN THE CAMERA. >> HE'LL GET A phone call. He'll call you guys. >> Can we get his badge number? >> Everything's going to be on the report. >> It's all public record. It's all public record. It's all on there. Every officer that was here is going to be on there. every officer. It'll be on his court papers, arresting officer, all of it. >> We don't know his badge number. >> It's on there. Let me go over there. It >> It's public record. It'll be on the It'll be on there. No, you don't need it. It's going to say the arresting officer. I don't have it. I don't have his number. >> But you can't number, sir. I want your badge number. >> Record him. Okay. I'm going TO GIVE YOU FAST NUMBERS. RECORD THEM. >> ALL RIGHT, >> you guys got to start heading home. >> Everywhere. I live right here. >> BACK UP. >> RECORD THAT. OKAY. GIVE ME YOUR PHONE. GIVE ME YOUR PHONE. >> NOPE. I'm not even scared. >> You can't do that to her phone. >> Back the up. >> WHAT IS WRONG WITH Y'ALL? YOU CAN'T DO THAT TO HER PHONE. >> BACK UP. >> OKAY. GIVE ME HER PHONE. >> OKAY, THAT'S HER PHONE. SO, WE JUST got to keep it up. >> OKAY. BACK UP. WELL, LOOK WHAT SHE DOING THOUGH. >> Stop going away. Stop me. Stop angry. Calm down. You angry. >> Stop twisting. >> Angry. >> All I'm saying she squeezing my quit twisting. Quit turning. You're just stoping that. She just hit me. Y'ALL JUST SEE THAT? SHE JUST HIT ME. I know. >> This is supposed to be an Olympic box. >> I am. I asked for your badge number. >> Oh, mine. You were talking about mine. It's 355. >> Ours is over. Ours is Ours is over here. 274. I didn't I didn't know you was talking to me cuz she yelled in front of my face. >> Oh yeah. Well, you shouldn't have acted that out like that. >> I didn't act up. All I was saying was my word. >> Super disappointed. >> I'm disappointed in you for not doing your job. >> For not doing your job the right way. >> And just like that, M. Jones was arrested and taken to the police station where she was charged with resisting arrest, failure to disperse and disorderly conduct. She was released from jail soon after and filed a lawsuit against the city and the department to drop the charges against her and also to issue her a formal apology. On speaker phone Thursday morning, Olympian O'Shea Jones taking a no contest plea to resisting arrest, obstructing official business, and failure to disperse. This deal allows her to participate in a diversion program. >> On the other hand, the police department launched an internal investigation into the incident and the female officer was reprimanded for using foul language during the arrest. To everyone's shock, her use of force was ruled to be justified. Well, that brings us to the end of this video. Today, we got to see a sad instance of racism in police officers and how they often abuse their authority and make these grave mistakes. If you believe these cops must be held accountable for their actions and should be kicked off of the force, consider showing your support by liking this video and make sure to subscribe to stay informed about future cases like these.
