On August 26th, 2026, officers were dispatched to a liquor store for a delayed retail theft report after a woman was seen leaving with more than $300 worth of alcohol without paying. After reviewing surveillance footage, officers identified the suspect and went to her home. >> Oh, where exactly? Hold Tyler. Hi, I'm Officer Markese with Crystal Lake. Just let you know we're on a body worn camera. >> Go, go, go. >> So, obviously we talked on the phone. >> Yeah, I'm trying to put my daughter down and she's >> Sure. >> had a rough day. She's been sick. >> Okay. Well, what happened at Binny's today? You were kind of telling me on the phone. >> Yeah, I lost one of my bridesmaids. I lost a photographer. I'm getting married next weekend and everything is kind of going crazy right now. >> Sure. >> I feel like I was in the middle of trying to deal with this and a million things when you called me. >> Mhm. >> Um and I asked you to hold and she's screaming at me and then I'm keep getting call, call, call, call, call. So, it seems a little aggressive and it's kind of sent me into like a panic kind of state. So, that's why I'm a little bit freaking out. I'm scared that my dog >> Sure. >> about pounding down on my door. >> Well, you know I was trying to get a hold of you, so I just figured you were ghosting me. >> I I was trying to take care of my daughter who is going through an extreme sleep regression and very upset about >> it. And I get that. Trust me, I have a 4-year-old and I have to deal with all that stuff. But, what happened at Binny's with those unpaid bottles? >> I He pointed out the bottle and I said, "Oh, I'm so sorry. I have I explained to him right then and there I have a million things going on. I just lost a bridesmaid." And then he said, "I put it on the counter and I paid for it." Like I paid for like what it was like four or five bottles all at the same time. >> You paid for two plus the one that was under your stroller. You have three more that you didn't pay for on your stroller. So, why didn't you pay for those? >> Why didn't I or why don't I? What are you saying? >> Why didn't you? It's all on camera. Just wondering why you didn't >> it wasn't intentional if I did. If I did not, it wasn't intentional. >> Okay. So, where are those three bottles right now? >> I don't I only brought in half the groceries because she was screaming at me, so it was >> Yeah, it was uh it was uh Take take a deep breath. Take a deep breath. What's going on? It's a bottle of Don Julio two whiskeys that you didn't pay for. Two bottles of Whistlepig, one bottle of Don Julio. The Don Julio Listen, hang on. Listen, I Taylor Taylor Taylor, you're on video that you got two bottles from the locked shelf that they brought over. Clear as day on video. And they also saw the one that was in the stroller that you did pay for that obviously that was the guy had to mention that to you. There's also three other bottles that you left intentionally underneath the stroller. That is a Don Julio Añejo >> It was not intentional. Don't >> Listen, Don Julio Añejo and two bottles of Whistlepig. And I don't believe you one bit. Look at me, I'm being honest with you. I just don't believe I'm doing the same >> I do not have any priors. >> You have two priors. That's why I don't believe you. Be honest with you. You're being honest with me and I'm being honest with you, right? >> I don't believe that I have any priors because I have not been >> You have two prior incidents at Binny's that they never reported to us but they have two prior internal incidents with you, okay? >> Okay, well, I don't >> So, I'm just being honest with you, that's all. >> Okay, well, I'm being honest here. I don't believe that because this is not who I am and this is not what I did. >> You could be honest with me like that. Thank you. >> No, it's not. I paid for that. They scanned it. They went behind the counter. >> This one you did not pay for. It's on the machine. >> I did pay for that. >> The other No, there's you had um six total bottles that you paid for. And then three are unaccounted. This Don Julio Añejo and two bottles of Whistlepig. >> They're the ones who handed that one to me. >> Well, they said that um the old locked up. >> Yes, that was locked up. >> This one? >> Yes. >> What about the Well, two were locked up. >> The Don Julio, this one, and the 1942 Don Julio. >> Well, they got it all on camera, so >> Okay, well, they have it on camera that I was also on the phone dealing with a million things at the same time. >> letting you know it's all on camera. >> pointed it out, I was like, "Oh my gosh, I am so sorry. I apologize." And I explained I have a million different ways right now. >> Okay. >> I didn't even bring it inside. So, as you can see, I've had a lot going on. >> Sure, and I'm taking all that into consideration. >> If you wouldn't mind putting up your glasses so I can see. They're just in the >> They're just falling, so it was >> Yeah. >> Put them on there. >> I know, it just makes me uncomfortable sometimes not seeing people's eyes. >> Okay. >> I think you owe me $400 for everything, so >> I know. >> In my mind, it seems like >> It was a 750. Is that the 750? That's probably 7 All right, so that one That one's here that you bought. It's the two whistles. Yep. I'll take those. This is And then you can have that one back. They paid for that one. Okay. You can have that one back. >> Thank you, sir. >> Okay. So, um here's what I'm going to do. I am You're not free to leave. You're being detained, obviously, for an investigation here. So, you're um not going to go anywhere right now, okay? Um You're either going to come with me to the police station or you're going to spend the night in the county jail or you're going to get released and be brought back, okay? Or just get released to our police station. You're going to get charged with retail theft. Okay? Just being honest with you again, it's over $300, which is a felony amount. I have to call the state attorney's office and get approval to get a felony charge against you. So, I'm going to do all that right now. So, just so you can get all taken care of, okay? Sound good? >> As I told >> I I'm going to stop >> intentional. You don't believe me. >> I'm going to tell that >> know what's going on. You're trying to deal with my daughter. >> I'm going to tell them >> and >> I'm going to tell that all to the State's Attorney's Office that makes a decision whether to charge you with a felony or not. I can't make that decision. They have to make that decision, okay? The fact that there's two prior instances for the for the same for the same MO is why this is happening right now, okay? You made a mistake today and you're going to deal with those consequences in court, okay? That's simple as to it. All right? >> And there's no option for I mean like I don't even have the receipt. I don't like to touch receipts. So it there's not even an option just take >> No. I'll tell that all So you're going to have to step out here and you're going to hang out with this officer until I make a call. I don't want to put you in handcuffs right now. I could do that and just take you straight to the police station. I could do that if you want. And you there's a good chance that you could just be processed and released back today. I have to make a call. I don't You get her to >> I need some water. >> Take a breath, okay? There's a good air flow right here. Come over here. >> We have a female officer that was here. >> Sure. >> to leave. She's coming on her way back. >> There's some air flow right here. Come over here. You'll get some good air flow. Help you breathe. Trust me, there's some air flow right where the officer is standing. >> Hold on, please. I'm feeling very pressured. Just give me 2 seconds. I don't know why where I'm standing makes a difference. Please, just Okay, can I have you leave, please? >> Unfortunately, I can't. >> No. >> Unfortunately. >> Okay, then I would like you to know that you are going to leave my premise once I am also out of it. I'm feeling so >> Well, here's the thing. Here's the thing. >> cornered right now. >> But we can't let you back we can't let you back in the garage with whatever. >> I'll sit out on the front stoop. I'll sit out on the front stoop in the front. >> Should we want to lean against your car? >> I don't know about this car, but we're watching the front. You want to take those or >> I'm going to take them to the car. >> Okay, that works. >> I don't know. Please, just go do your thing and I will figure it out with my unit right here, okay? Because I feel like this is the aggressive part of situation, so >> Let's go go out the front door. Is that where she's going to go? >> Yeah, if you could just go in there. >> go. >> I'll keep them in front. >> Okay. >> You guys want to stay out front? >> Just stop screaming. >> But as a bond court is at like 1:30 in the afternoon, so we get phone calls from the county jail. >> No, please. You're hurting me. >> So, Taylor, what I need you to do though >> I need you to I need this. >> Hey, Taylor. >> Taylor, listen. Taylor, listen. Take a breath. Take a breath. Take a breath. >> Can I have you please step back? I feel uncomfortable. He makes me feel uncomfortable. >> Okay. Taylor. We're taking this one step at a time, okay? We got to get through this. We're going to get through this. You're going to get to your wedding this weekend. So, the first thing that we need to do is we're going to stand up and we're going to walk to his car. And we're going to take this one step at a time. >> I don't want to go with his car. Can I go in your car? I don't want to be next to him. I don't >> listen listen. Unfortunately, you have to come with me. Listen, you have to come with me because I'm Chris Lake, but I'm going to have another officer with me at the police station, which will be a female, okay? Unfortunately, since she's Lincoln Hills, can't happen. You have to come with me. >> He makes me feel uncomfortable. Can anyone else come, please? >> You're going to ride in the back of my car. >> He makes me feel uncomfortable. >> You don't even have to talk. >> Walk with me. We're going to talk about it. We're going to talk through it, okay? Come with me. Taylor, >> [clears throat] >> come with me. I'm going to walk over there with you. We're going to talk through it, okay? We're going to get through this. >> I can't even change. I'm so uncomfortable. But I haven't changed since like freaking two days. I've been spit up, I'm sweating, I'm so uncomfortable. You can't have me >> We're going to give her clothes at the county jail, okay? >> She's not going to be wearing >> She's not going to be wearing this. Right now, your clothing's the least of your worries, okay? The longer you do this, you're going to prolong things, and I'm going to make a decision that I don't want to make in front of your fiance and daughter here, okay? >> This is why I'm afraid to go with him. He's >> Yeah, he's going to help you. >> Just go out there, right? >> Taylor, look at me, okay? You're going to walk with me. They're going to walk in front of us. Okay? You're going to walk next to me. Can we do that? Can you walk next to me? >> Yes, I just don't want to be left alone with him. >> Kaylin, here. We're going to start walking. Come on. Let's start walking this way. Come on. >> Yeah, you can say goodbye. >> Say goodbye. Say goodbye. >> We love you. >> You're doing this for mom. >> I can't talk to him when they get there. >> You're allowed to You're allowed to make phone calls. >> I feel like I feel like standing here is making this worse. >> I don't feel good being close to me. >> Okay, we're waiting for you to come this way and we're going to walk. >> If you start walking, he's going to walk and I'm going to walk with >> switch spots with that guy? >> Kaylin, you don't dictate what we do here. You're going to make me You're going to make me You're going to make me put you in handcuffs and I don't want to do that. So, follow Officer Barham here. You're not in charge right now. >> He's not threatening you. He's telling you what is going to happen. >> All right. This is going to happen, okay? Officer Barham is going to search you. We have to We have to search cuz it's part of our policy and procedure. Okay? >> Can I leave my earrings at home? >> I would actually prefer that, yes. >> Yeah, if you want to take them out, I can run them back to him once we get you in the car, okay? >> Is there anything else in your pocket besides your cell phone or that you want to get rid of? >> No, I don't have anything. >> I have your ID. You You can bring your cell phone and your keys. You can get your keys. I don't know, whatever. But other than that, the less you bring, the better cuz there's chances of getting misplaced. You don't want any of that, so. >> I don't know where my wedding ring is now. >> You don't want to bring that to the county jail anyway. >> I don't know. I don't know. I'm like, I don't know where it is all of a sudden. I'm like >> So, we're We're spiraling. We're spiraling, okay? And so, what I'm going to do when I get back in my car is I'm going >> So, I'm sorry we got off on the wrong foot. I don't feel good today, so maybe that's why my demeanor is a little off and I'm very hot and uncomfortable, but I'm not going to hurt you, okay? So, I I don't want you to get that feeling that I'm going to Okay, I And And that's fine, but I'm trying to explain to you okay I'm trying to explain I'm trying to explain to you told you I'm not feeling good today and I'm hot and cranky and allergies for how I reacted but I'm just trying to get to the point here I've been on this too long these officers have something going on okay because we have a process we have to get through so you're going to sit in the backseat here there's a cage between me and you there's cameras on it's recording audio it's recording video okay and we're going to have a female officer meet us at the PD cuz I always need to have two officers with me it's one's going to be a female okay I'm just letting you know that I did what I had to do because I did my job and the state attorney made the decision not me I couldn't make that decision without the state attorney so I'm letting you know that I reviewed video I reviewed all the facts and that's just what it is right now right now we're going to put you in handcuffs you're going to go in the back of my car okay >> I have to have the handcuffs or something >> Yes I hear you have to go in handcuffs Yeah unfortunately I can't do anything about that cuz I have a job and I want to keep my job okay >> Do I turn around do I have to turn around >> Yes >> See I mean >> Do the handcuffs have to go behind your back >> I can't I can't make that call okay >> I know but it's like >> I can put them on you so here let's let's honestly the faster we get >> So uncomfortable I tried to make it as comfortable as possible >> No I we put we put everyone hands behind their back we have to okay >> And again it's a quick ride to the Crystal Lake Police Department you're going to be there before you know it okay So here let's sit you in the car we're going to >> I have hair in my mouth and I can't get it out >> You want me to fix it right here >> I know >> All right then let's get in the car when there's no one no one around You got it Yeah I know it's not it's not comfortable like I said I know >> I have a problem with my ice tea >> So there's a cutout right here for you to put your arms, okay?
