manager advised the officer that the
suspect later identified as 39-year-old

receipt then I'm going to assume you
didn't pay for the items if you didn't
pay for the items Publix is a great
place they usually want to trespass you
they usually don't want to arrest you
and they'll let you go on your way now
I'm working off duty here the last thing
I want to do is arrest somebody the last
thing I want to do is taser somebody the
last thing I want to do is mess with
anybody I'm here just to keep the peace
to make sure that people aren't walking
out with stuff being disrespectful to
the public that's what I'm doing so I'm
staying right up here by the registers
okay and I see your daughter walk out
now she had a bag but that doesn't mean
she paid for items many people have bags
they come in they steal stuff all the
time every day there's all different
kinds of scams that go on here even in
front of my face yep so I see her
walking through the through the self
checkout walking out this way and one of
the managers like I don't think she paid
for her stuff so by the time I make
contact whether she's sitting in her
vehicle in the end the store receipt
confirmed that Twanda did purchase the
groceries and she was charged with
resisting arrest without violence her
charges were later dropped and she
fought a lawsuit against Publix in the
lawsuit she was seeking in excess of
$50,000 for physical harm and mental
trauma the case was later dismissed and
the Sheriff's Office internal audit
determined that the arresting officer
had probable cause and the use of force
