had the phone just give it back I don't
have the phone I don't know how many
times
I well it just the phone right there on
January 16th 2023 officers in Illinois
responded to a theft report the
complainant used a tracking app to
locate their stolen $2,000 phone
initially taken from a Dollar General
store at a nearby residence the officers
proceeded to the residence where they
spoke with several
individuals hey I'm right here sorry
yeah
um does anybody else live here with you
got a girl downstairs to stand what's
that got a girl downstairs to stand okay
but that's it what's her name Bailey can
I talk to her real quick yeah ni you you
okay with me stepping in
I'm get my prosthetic on oh I'm
sorry I couldn't it sounded like you
asked who it was I was like hey h Mom's
here Mom's here uhuh police officer's
here for what I don't know
huh yes sir hey how you doing how are
you good my name is Al Rond I'm with mol
hello um we're here because there is a
cell phone that was stolen from Dollar
General and it's pinging here here is it
in the yard maybe well it's it's pinging
like literally like right dead set in
between that's that's weird either we we
checked over there already and it's
pinging right in between both houses so
then it's got I can go look in the side
yards and stuff let me go grab a coat
that's what we just did oh we got we got
an officer checking camera footage right
now but just we're trying to get back
while we're
here it was at Dollar General on the
Avenue oh like I no one stole a phone I
mean there was one in the parking lot
and I took it to the lady with glasses
and the brown hair do you have a phone
she was out there smoking do you still
have a phone do I have a phone do you
have do you have the phone no I don't
have the phone where but it was a like a
flip phone like one of the newer ones or
no like a older flip like a flip phone
when was that uh three and a half maybe
four hours ago my mom she's about to be
here too so she's just walking down here
so she might have it your mom might have
it yeah she might was she with you no
she's walking down the alley right now
was she with you atll General okay can
you call her and see where she's at yeah
can let me gra my
phone 23 from six
I'm out with a female now that lives in
that older gentleman's house in the
basement she's saying her and her mom
were at Dollar General about 3 hours ago
don't really have any more information
than that yet so you
know this one that this is
mine okay we just it's like a newer
style flip is this your daughter then a
friend's daughter yes
okay okay all
right what address is this
25 what oh I was talking to my mom
sorry who phone just
ring you just try to call her by Doodles
okay so she'll be here in just a second
[Music]
sir all right
that wasn't your phone no you can check
it no it's fine all right she's just at
Yankee
Doodle okay
can can you come or can I come down
there and talk to you well no I'm going
to come up here okay that works what's
up there was that your phone that just
rang yeah that was
mine okay no I got I see I got a proof
and everything I got the cash thing okay
listen yeah all I have I have one what
is the phone this is the phone right no
I know that if you or your mom took the
phone idea I can go look in her car when
she gets
here she was just right next door too so
it could possibly be in her car or she
has I don't have it though cuz what
would I do with a cell phone that I
can't use well I'm not accusing you of
taking it I just we have to do our due
diligence I I get that too but I'm not
be accused of stealing something that I
didn't see no that's why I'm not
accusing you but we we still have to
come in and it just listen you said that
you were at Dollar General yes I was but
I've been at three different Dollar
Generals today and I understand that's
and that's fine but you being there
gotta does not mean that you were
necessarily the one that took the phone
but it's
coincidental no I mean it's not I do you
think that your mom took it I don't
think she took it or or she could have
she could have picked up does she have a
phone she has like three phones not even
why Mom that's another officer Oh I
thought that was my mother all right but
no she's just at Yan doodle she said so
she should be here right now where is
she at she Yankee
Doodle yeah but it should have been here
by now since she's right there she's
slow you check the
front Che well yeah did Ryan was Ryan up
there where did he knock at the front
the front which one this one or that one
this door this door yeah we checked it
was just up there where is the pain like
right in the middle of the houses it's
pinging like directly to the side of
your guys's
house so we just we just got to know cuz
we're we're no that's fine we're
checking footage right now to see no I
did get a phone from there and I turned
it the lady that was outside smoking you
turned it into a lady outside smok she
was she was working what kind of phone
no she worked there what kind of phone
was it
a older style an older style phone an
older style one yeah with a touchcreen I
don't think so I don't really look at it
I just gave it to her okay but it was a
flip phone like no I mean that that's
that's matching the oh well a brown hair
and shed glasses and she worked the
front desk and I I get that the only
issue we're having is it it came back
here I get that but I don't have it so
right now I mean before looking at Char
before looking at charges or anything I
think they just want back and if oh I
know if you're seen grabbing the phone
last and never giving it to a lady
outside then oh that's
fine unfortunately there are going to be
charges PR oh no no no I get it I me
it's $2,000 phone nothing so she's
saying that she was at about 3 and half
four hours ago with her mom her mom is a
what is your mom what's your mom's name
yeah yeah I I know
her long walk did you buy any chance
find the phone General I didn't get out
the car you didn't get out the car
uh did your mom get out of the car there
or no no she didn't sheez hey dear can
you come here real quick no you can come
here okay
here's the I don't we just take the
phone I know just listen I am listening
okay hear me out here okay pretty easy
going officer oh no I get that I'm going
to go watch video s tomorrow they're
closed got you all the lady wants is her
phone is her phone I get this if we
don't get the phone back and I do video
surveillance and then it's you or your
mom stealing it then you guys I got you
you or your mom have the phone just give
it back to I don't have the phone I
don't know how many times
I well it just that the phone right
there that's the
phone that's the
neighbors what so that's the
neighbors your mom just walked
[Applause]
up Bailey can you come back here Mom Mom
I don't I don't know where she's
at Pedro
hi Julie hey are do you remember
me Murphy no not
Murphy listen I get listen to me okay we
know that at least you guys are at
Dollar General this is not coincidental
that the phone is pinging here yeah okay
so you came through the front you're at
Yankee Doodle so you could have came
through this back alley which is i' see
there I'm theot across gas station
that's what you call where you at go to
the gas station I get something to eat
