That's all. >> Okay, you're going 55. When you're getting pulled over you must Give me your license. >> No, my camera is right there. >> Okay, give me your license. Give me your Okay. Give me your license. All right, put your license in your pocket. I was at BM VB Theaters. Reason for stop for speeding. You refused to stop for a mile. However, we stopped her here. >> not speeding and you did not turn your siren on to stop me. You literally put your blue lights on after I drove up. >> your license. >> Can I just go home with my three children? >> You're about to be detained. I will >> I'm not going to jail today, officer. I literally >> Why do you think you're going to jail? Now, you're going to be detained. >> No, please do not do this. I just got out of the hospital. Cater, call Look, my children are in the car. Stop. Please stop doing this in front OF MY KIDS. >> [laughter] >> THE DEVIL IS A LIAR. I didn't do anything. You're being racist against me. I'm already going through a lot. You tried to get home. >> I don't want to hurt you in front of your children. >> hurting me. >> Give me your hands. >> Please stop hurting the power ball three times, Cater. >> [laughter] >> Brooke. Yeah, yeah, yeah, YEAH, YEAH. SHAE, SHAE, SHAE. >> STOP. >> I'M NOT DOING ANYTHING. I don't have nothing on me. My three children ARE IN THE CAR. >> OKAY, RELAX. We're not doing that. >> Yes, you are. >> No, we're really not. >> My children are watching everything. My child is right there. >> Okay, then quit acting a fool. >> I'm not acting a fool. >> You definitely are. >> My children are in the car witnessing this. It don't take five of y'all for one black [ __ ] like me. >> Y'all what you did was children witness was a criminal under the law. >> I did not fight the law. He accused me of speeding. I I NOT SPEEDING. GET OFF of me. >> Stop fighting. Don't kick. >> fighting. >> You kick me, you're going to the ground. >> You already got me handcuffed. What the [ __ ] can I do to you? >> You kick me, you're going to the ground. >> kicking you. You just want a reason TO BEAT MY BLACK ASS. >> I DON'T WANT TO TOUCH YOU AT ALL. >> [screaming] >> DO YOU HAVE A a driver's license in there, bud? >> Yeah. Um is it like her this? >> Yeah, that's it. >> It's like this? >> Yeah. >> Thank you. Over here. She don't know >> If you can talk to her and see if she can give you the name it's saved in her phone. Huh? >> So, I mean >> What's the name of the contact >> The name that it's under? >> Yeah, whatever it's saved in her phone. >> Find what name grandma is under the phone in the phone. >> Have y'all ate breakfast or anything? Not yet? Okay. >> She tried to take us to the hospital and then she got fired and she tried to blame me for >> She [clears throat] got fired? >> Yeah, because um right here on this eye, I had a bruise and I was tired of always getting in trouble even though it was for them. So, one day I talked to talked to my grandma so she can just leave and stop getting in trouble and then she tried to call the defense on me just because I didn't I didn't feel safe. >> Okay. >> And then I tried to go to my grandma's house and then she said I ain't going nowhere and then she would call [groaning] y'all to come get me instead of letting me leave. All my siblings like we all didn't feel comfortable because my mom she kept on She kept being rude to all of us like like getting stuck into her. >> So, did this morning did she put hands on you or anything? >> No, she tried to. >> When was she tried to this morning? >> Yeah, she tried to but she didn't. >> I'll be out here in a second. We definitely need D-FACS. >> This is Officer Hey, this is Officer Dowdy with the Athens-Clarke County Police Department. I have Ms. Brown's phone. She's being arrested so she was speeding, she kind of got a little disorderly, she ended up obstructing from an officer and she has no valid insurance. But we have her three children here. Is that Are you able to possibly come and pick them up? >> No, I'm not able to come and pick them up right now. >> Okay, if officers could get them to your house >> Well, the reason why I'm not able cuz I was drinking and I still feel intoxicated. >> Okay, so you wouldn't be able to have custody of them? >> Yeah, I don't want to be responsible. >> Okay. All right, well, thank you very much. >> What's your name? >> I'm sorry. >> I'm sorry? Do you know how to spell it? You want to write it down? Okay, you write it down for me. All right. Nine? Wow, you're getting big, huh? >> My brother's birthday was 4 days ago. >> 4 days ago? His birthday? >> Mhm. >> Do you know your first name? What's your first name? Do you know when your birthday is? >> No. >> No? >> Mommy told me my birthday number. >> You know You don't know it? >> Well, her birthday is next then mine then my mom's. >> I Do you mind if I look at your eye, buddy? I know it's going to be bright. I'll try to make it as dim [clears throat] as possible. And this happened on Christmas? Right now, she has no insurance, speeding, misdemeanor obstruction, and she's currently under investigation for battery against one of the children. >> Is that prior or is that today? >> That was on Christmas Day, that incident, but it's just now being disclosed on this traffic stop. >> Okay. >> So, aside from what happened today can you kind of explain to me what happened on Christmas Day with your oldest son? >> He's been hurting me and he's been beating me up. He had put in his class group chat that he wanted to hurt his self or play in his funeral. >> And play [snorts] in his funeral? >> Yeah. His teachers and social worker at the school called me. >> [snorts] >> I immediately rushed him to the Advantage. They did a crisis assessment on him. He's been on medication. He's been being all really aggressive, hurting his siblings, and attacking me with going through a lot of hell since they've been back with me since the fence. I tried to get his family to take him in. I tried to get his dad to take him. Nobody wants him. So, it's just me going through a lot by myself just trying to keep my life on track with him. >> All right. So, on Christmas day when you when he told you that he was playing on the computer, what happened after that? >> He attacked me and jumped on me and we got into a fight. >> So, when you approached him about the computer, did you punch him in the face? >> No, I didn't. >> During y'all's fight, did you punch him in the face? >> No, I didn't punch him in the face. I fell him into his bed and the wall. I hit him in his eye. >> Okay. All right. Give me one second, okay? Up until the part where she brought up the eye before I did? I probably would have said, I don't necessarily think that it's fully truthful, but because she brought the eye before I said anything about the eye. That very well could have happened. I do think that it's gotten physical because of his behavior, but I don't necessarily know if it's enough for a charge. >> Yeah. >> Think it's enough? I don't necessarily think it's enough for a charge right now. I think it's I mean, I can always try to talk to the 8-year-old, but I think that's more of a forensic interview kind of situation. >> Hey, yeah. How much [clears throat] confidence do you give her? She's That's enough reasonable doubt on that one. She's providing more alternatives than I thought she would. >> What's your extension? >> Do you know what it is? >> 7191 >> 7191? Okay. >> He's not going to have that at least. Did they not transfer that one? >> No, it's our phones. >> There's not enough to go forward with the charge. >> put officers to their direct lines anyway. >> He's able [snorts] to pull up some graphic imagery. >> So, does he have that going to his >> I have a I'll be at my desk right >> Whenever cuz you're going to East Precinct. >> That's not I would only have that phone at my desk. >> All right. So, mom presented an alternative. Okay, y'all can have the black eye. Yes, there was an altercation between the two on Christmas. Our receipt says it was started by him due to ongoing behavioral issues. Um and she said on >> So, I'll be completely honest with you just because yesterday he tried to attack his brother. He tried to run away from home yesterday because he said his brother was getting on his nerves. >> Okay, listen. >> to let you know how he could say something. >> trying to explain something to you. Stop. >> I'm not going to go to jail for hitting him in the >> Right. If you would stop talking for a second, I'm explaining that to you. Stop. Stop. We're not charging you with battery. We have to let D-Fax know because there was an allegation made. They'll do what they need to do. Our detectives will get with them on whatever they need to do. Right. So, then you can talk to them. The only thing we had to do was cover the bases I'm saying that we talked to you about the allegation that he made, okay? He does have a black eye, so we had to continue with that. All right? >> That's not a black eye. >> It's swollen. >> No, he punched his self in the face while >> Okay, you just said that he fell between the bed. >> I'm trying to tell you something. Before I was pulled over this morning, I was going to work at Waffle House right here on Barner. While I was inside of the restaurant talking to the manager letting her know that I had my kids and seeing what I could work out with them. He was flipping in the car, hitting his face and going like this with my backup beat phone that doesn't work, the other one that's in the car. He was going like this and smacking his self in the face with the phone. I clicked the key on the car to like flash the light so he could see that I was seeing him and he stopped. But, he was going like this hitting his self in the face with the phone and like flipping in between the seat. >> Okay, well a few minutes ago you told me that his eye was because he fell between the bed. >> to tell you what happened this morning. >> Okay. But, what I'm telling you is you originally said it was from the bed. >> Yes, it is. I'm trying >> Now you're telling me it's from the phone. >> No, what I'm saying is he was hitting his self in the face again this morning. That's what I'm trying to tell you that. >> And I was >> include that. But what I'm telling you from here on is right now you're getting the traffic charges and the situation with Cameron. You're not getting the battery stuff right now. It had to be investigated because it was brought up. >> So we're not going to investigate now. >> Okay, but I'm telling you it will be a new D-facts investigation. That's what I'm trying to explain to you. >> If you'll hang out right here without your camera, we're going to get >> Oh, yeah. Sure. >> transferred over. We're going to take you out, get you warm, get you some food. Take you to place to park in all right. >> I know it's cold, but we'll get you over there in that much warmer SUV in a second. >> Yes? >> Hey, come over here, buddy. Don't talk to her. Don't talk to her. Don't listen to her. >> I can't see. >> Let's focus with us. Is that good? The focus is switched. Play it back. The focus is You're okay? >> I'm just getting my stuff. >> You got it? >> [snorts] >> All right, buddy. Oh, thank you. We're going to go into here, okay? Come over here in the much warmer place for us to sit. You got it? Thank you, buddy. Can you open it? I got you. There you go. >> I'm going to go get them breakfast. They told me they told me pancakes I can go to McDonald's. So I can get them some pancakes or some juice. I'll be back, okay? >> Thank you. >> You want to make our animals together? Yeah. I have a dancing deer. You ready to make them? >> Yeah. >> I pulled over and she said, "Hey, I just got fired from my job." And she had three kids in there. I probably wouldn't even give her a speeding ticket. I would have been like Yeah, figure out your insurance. You take care of you. But, it turned into all this and I'm just like, for what? Like, I expect I expect that they're going to have like a suspended license or something like that, you know? Cuz she like one of the first thing she said was I'm not going to jail and I'm just like, then how would you go to jail? Like, I she must have thought well, even for that ticket. >> Following her arrest, the woman was charged with misdemeanor obstruction, speeding, and driving without proof of insurance. The three children were taken to the police department while officers worked to make sure they were taken care of. The son's allegations did not lead to a battery charge, but the case was handed to DCFS. Thank you for watching the video. Tell us what you think in the comments.
