She locked her kids in the car to go shoplift inside the mall. But on her way out with a handful of stolen goods. She found her vehicle completely engulfed in flames. On May 6th of 2023, 24-year-old Alicia Moore parked her vehicle outside the Ovido Mall in Florida, leaving her two children inside while she went into a Dillards to shoplift. Employees noticed her acting nervously and lingering near the exit with several unpaid items in hand. About 15 minutes after her arrival, security footage from a nearby vehicle captured smoke coming from her car. As the flames grew, witnesses rushed in with a fire extinguisher and managed to calm the fire enough to pull the children out. It was at this moment that Alicia tried to leave the store with the stolen merchandise, but immediately dropped everything in shock when she saw her car on fire. She frantically searched for her children, unaware they had already been brought inside by witnesses who saved them before fainting inside the mall. So, is there somebody in it? >> Nobody's in it. >> We were telling they were telling us people were inside of it. And it's like I see it on the screen. I'm like, are they not going to voice that? Do we know the owner? I'll go I'll go inside and ask around. What is that? A Lincoln MK something. >> Your boyfriend? >> We will call your boyfriend in just a second. >> How you doing? >> Good. How you doing? >> Is she the owner of the car? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> So, what happened? >> She >> Nobody's in the car, right? >> All the kids are accounted for. >> No. My >> She doesn't know where her boyfriend is. >> And my boyfriend. >> Okay. What's his first name? >> Did you guys do like a >> PA? I gave it to someone. >> Go ahead. I'll I'll call her right now. >> The suspect insists her boyfriend was in the car and appears concerned when he's nowhere to be found. But store employees confirm he was inside with her, helping steal merchandise before running off once the fire broke out. There he is. >> Oh, the PA. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> I was the one that the kids were coming out >> cuz I just >> They were going to the car on fire. >> No, no, no. Okay. >> The car like I parked I walked out of my car and I was that car smoking. It's got >> the hood inside like where I was looking at out the back and then as I walked by I'm like the car shut and then the kids looking at the door and when it was in the car. >> Go ahead. >> I mean it doesn't look >> it. It doesn't look like anybody's in the car. >> Okay. >> Just where where was she at? She was not getting the kids out. >> We can roll back the tape and find >> Is there a camera? >> Can I make a phone call? >> All right. He didn't answer. So, >> is it ringing? >> No, it's not even ringing. Do you have any ID on you, ma'am? >> No. >> Okay. >> No, my phone is missing somewhere. everything over there by jewelry. >> Uh, what does your boyfriend look like? >> He's he's African. The suspect gives officers a fake last name, claiming to be Alicia Murphy instead of Alicia Moore. Officers later discover she has an outstanding warrant for her arrest. Likely the reason she lied about her identity. >> All right, so still looking for your boyfriend. I tried calling the phone, but it doesn't even ring. >> You got a picture of your boyfriend? >> My phone is missing. >> We can't find Marcia. >> She threw everything down when she started back out of the building over between the two jewelries. >> Can you go over there and see if any of them picked up her phone? I noticed someone's got fires as I walked by. There was another gentleman. We both were like on fire. >> I believe he opened it and I saw the kids come out and what I saw inside the car was already engulfed. >> And what did he grab? >> The gentleman that opened the car, what did he look like? >> Uh, white male. Uh he was someone who was coming to he went to his car to get >> and I grabbed the kids and ran and then once I saw the car like we need to go inside. >> Can you just put the uh call screen please? >> I couldn't even tell for >> Well, this was just her. >> Okay. >> It's coming back soon. >> It is. >> I'm pretty sure. So, we're probably going to talk back in front. >> Did you write your name down? I'll I'll call security. >> Okay. So, I want you to slow that breathing. I'll do a lean back. Just ask the first slow that breathing. Remember when >> first name again? his first name. >> Can I get Can I get her to slow her breathing down just for a little bit? I think she'll be a little bit more comparing me. >> Excuse me. >> Can you call my mom? >> Hey, ma'am. What's your first name? >> Alicia. >> Alicia. I know everything's kind of kind of going on crazy right now. Black over black right now. It looks like your daughter looks like she may have gotten burned. Stop. Don't touch it. Don't touch it, man. Look at her. Look at her. >> I know. I know. >> She definitely has some. Can you have them put out a bolo over the mall intercom? Yeah. >> For a Darius Van Beern. >> Darius Van. >> Yeah, I got you. >> Yeah, there's nobody in the car, I think. >> I don't think so. >> No, because the guy I think the guy um um came out and he was using the fire extinguisher here. >> Yeah. >> Yeah, but the there the the kids there was kids in there. >> Yeah. Yeah, they're out. >> They ran I know they ran out, but they don't know. >> They're over there with their mother. >> Okay. >> Yeah, they're with their Darius >> Darius Van Beerren. >> Van. I I need to get the the kids information, their names and their birthdays. Okay. However, um when I pulled up, it was fully engulfed and I walked over here and walked up and there was another lady, another customer that had the two children. >> Okay. >> And I was telling her that they looked like they had been in the car because they had little foot on their noses and stuff. >> Okay. >> And the the woman inside when she whose car it is when she came and saw she kept saying her mom was in the car. >> Okay. >> But I don't know if that was just shock, you know. She passed out. >> Okay. Yeah, they're good. Let me just get your info really quick just in case I need it for something. I don't think I will, but just in case and then that way you can get out of here. Okay. >> Give me one second. >> Can I ask you guys one more favor? Can you rip the bumper, the rear bumper off? >> It's the only other place it might be except for under on the frame. And I'm not going under there. So, actually, I might be able to see it right there. You can spread it too. >> Yeah, it might be on that sticker right there. >> What did he say? >> He's asking the lightning kid. >> Oh, so that lady says that she saw the lady run out >> with the kids in the car >> and the lady the mom kept saying, "My mom's in the car. My mom's in the car." >> So there's probably no guy in the car. >> She never said anything about a guy. No. She pulled up and it was already on fire and the mom was out here getting the kids off. >> That's all I got. [Music] >> This one says 2015, but I didn't say um >> I think it's a 2016. >> No, we found the owner. >> Not the guy. Supposedly there was a guy with them that disappeared. The two kids were in the car and mom got the kids out. What? I got >> Yeah, it's probably this one. No way. Sometimes it's on like the frame itself, but >> yeah, it looks like maybe there was like something inside there, but I can't read it. Chris is another spot. I don't know. in that area right there. Yeah. This I know there's one on the frame under it, but All right. What's the mom's name? Right here. I got all stuff. Uh, Murphy suspect. >> Oh, is it going to Palmer? >> Yeah. Go in the injury. Of course, dispatch didn't say this, but the it says vehicle was given to the mom. >> Okay. >> So, she must be the suspect, I guess. >> So, here here's what we got from what Liz is calling. All right. No, she just called me. >> Okay. All right. So, these two are your prime witnesses for She even pul took the kid out of the burning car that was on fire. >> He stops here and he said >> he came No, not from upstairs. I would say a little bit like from the mall probably. I didn't see exactly where. I just saw him when he got in my vision. Then he says, "Oh shit." And he comes here. That's when I lose him. But Peter, our other manager, that's when he sees him sprint out towards men's last time. Can you describe what he was wearing or what he looked like? >> Not what he was wearing. I would say he was he was black, lightkinn or mixed, something of the sort. He was bald and he had some facial hair. That's the quickest I got him. He sprink. But I don't know if maybe Peter saw. >> Would you guys mind describing mom if you remember what she was wearing, what she looked like? >> I mean, it was >> She had a fake Christian Dior bag. How much detail do you want? Um, she had, >> you remember what she was wearing or anything? >> She had like the braids. >> Braids. >> Okay. Could you just put that for me? >> She had a tan crop top and >> she had black and white stripe on linen pants. >> Hold on. I'm going to get you a different statement. No problem. >> Just put what you saw, Mom and Dad. Everything that you saw. >> Thank you. >> I'm going to put in there. It appeared like she was shopping cuz she had stuff in her. >> Whatever you want to put is is perfect for me. I just need to I just need to prove that. >> It was her. So, as long as you >> Yeah, that's why I said like 55. >> Gotcha. Perfect. >> Thank you. >> So, you they pulled up after you, >> right? So, my wife was driving. She parked the car. >> Okay. >> That spot was empty and then I just started to review the footage. You can see the car pull in, >> person get out, blah blah blah. So, um I then I stopped because I was like, I got to get down here before they pull the car away and move in. Okay. >> Can you tell Can you show it to me or >> I tried to I I I pulled the jump drive out of the car so it wouldn't override it. I downloaded it to my laptop. It's back at the house. I'm not far down the road, but I don't have it on me right now, but I can certainly bring it back if you need it or or upload it, whatever you need me to do. >> Yeah, we got a guy going in there and then we use the evidence.com upload. So, we can have him upload it there and I'll relay whatever he finds. He's going to meet at you over there. All right, officer Doza. We'll meet you there. >> Thank you so much. I appreciate your help. Are we good to call? >> That's up to them, I guess. >> They're still working, right? >> Those guys. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Okay. >> He said he thinks they're still going. That was really nice.
