On September 8th, 2023, the Broward County Sheriff's Office arrived on scene at a car accident and suspected DUI at the airport. The following shows the bodywn worn camera footage of what happened during the incident. What happened tonight? I was trying to take my friend home and I clearly hit the the side markers and I was not in the way to drive home. So, I'm here. Okay. And I am just waiting for a way to go get myself home and hopefully my friend home. Okay. Your friend Bianca from over there. We came this way. We were going to go over to Glitch Bar. Didn't make it to Glitch Bar, obviously, because she wasn't feeling well and I wasn't feeling well. We were just going to decide to go home. All right. And then I obviously was going to take her home and then that was my mistake. I know you haven't made it to Glitch Bar yet, but have have you had anything to drink tonight? No, officer. I have not. I was going that way. I have not had anything to drink tonight. Do not plan on it. I just want to go home. Okay. All right. because they're trying to figure out, you know, what what could have caused, you know, this severe of a of a crash. I do not have my glasses on if I'm being isarently part of your uh I do not have my glasses license restrictions. It's not part of my restrictions cuz I haven't gotten my license renewed recently. Okay. It should be. My glasses are not up to date to my vision and I do not have them. So, I was trying to drive. I could not see. I'm going be completely transparent. All right. I could not see. Deputy Singh's investigation is is his own. Y I'm doing an independent DUI investigation basically for driving under the influence of alcoholic beverages. There's been um uh indications that I received just standing here and of course what deputy Singh has told me that he that he warned about you that when when he was in contact with you. So we believe that you may have had something to drink tonight and that that could have been a contributing factor towards this crash. Okay. Okay. Uh, what I would like to do are some roadside sobriety exercises to go over the instructions. I'll explain to you how how how they're done. Okay? Then I'm going to demonstrate the exercise for you. I'm going to ask you if you understand how I demonstrated the exercise and then I'd like you to perform the exercise for me as I explained it to you. Okay? However, we are going to get away from all these red and blue lights. Would you mind if we walked in front of my car? I'm going to turn on the next set of lights. I'll follow you. Well, no, you walk with me. Quick, please. Sorry for long legs. I see that. I'm ready to go home. I understand. It's been a long night officer. Can't believe it. Listen. All right. Just hang out right there. Let me get these lights turned on. That gives us a little bit more light. All right. I'm going to have you stand here in front of me. Yep. Just like that. All right. So, what I have is a red lighted pen. I'm going to move it left to right and right to left several times in front of you. Move twice up and down. All I need you to do is keep your head straight facing me. Use your eyes only to follow the right leg. Okay. For this exercise, your feet are going to be together. Together. Yeah. Arms are going to be relaxed by your side. So, just watch me. Okay. Okay. So, my eyes are be focused on the red light. My head's straight facing you. So, if I move the red light out, my eyes follow. My head's still straight facing you. And when I move it back, my eyes follow the red light. Notice how my head didn't move. Just my eyes. That's what I want you to do. Okay. Understand that? Yeah. Okay. The next exercise is a walking exercise. We're going to use this very large white painted line. It's kind of larger than what I would like, but uh we'll we'll make it work. I just want to make sure that I'm feel comfortable that I that I can walk on this one. So, just uh just stay right there. Is going to touch your toe. Your toes is going to touch your heel. So, no spaces or no gaps. Okay. While I give you the rest of the instructions, you are not going to remain in this position with your arms by your side. Okay? Try to keep your right foot in front of your left foot. So like directly in front like about like you're on a balance wheel. There you go. Okay. So when I say begin, you're going to take nine steps forward. On each step, your heel's going to touch your toe. Your toes going to touch your heel. So no spaces and no gaps. Okay? As you walk, watch your feet. Keep your arms by your side. And count your steps out loud. Nine steps. Nine steps. When you get to that nine step, you're going to turn around. You're going to leave your front foot on the line. Basically, this the, you know, next to the line. Turn on my foot, right? Well, you're going to take your back foot off the line and take a series of slow steps turning yourself around. Then you're going to take nine steps back. You should end up where you began. Okay. Remember to keep your arms by your side. Watch your feet as you walk. Count your steps out loud. Okay. All right. So, get back in the starting position. Okay. Now, I demonstrated it over there. Did you see how I demonstrated it? Do you understand how I demonstrated it? Yeah. Okay. Did you see how I turned around? Yes. Okay. Uh, do you have any questions? Okay. Once you begin this exercise, don't stop until you reach the end. Okay. So, get back in the starting position. All right. You may begin. That's all right. No, that's fine. You can ask. Um, during this exercise, you're going to count out loud. 1,00 1 1,002 1,003 and just keep counting. Okay? You don't um I'll tell you when to stop. Okay? It's a 30 second exercise. So I'm going to use the digital portion on my hand. Um you understand how the explanation, you understand the uh how I demonstrate. Okay. Once you start, well, I'll tell you when to start, but once you start, um like I said, I'll let you know when to stop. Okay. Okay. One second. Okay. You can begin. 1,00 1,002 100,004 100,005 1006 1007 1008 1 9 1 15 It's called finger to nose. Requires you to basically touch your finger to your nose. I'll give you which finger request I'm asking for or which hand request. So for this your your uh f uh fists are going to be clenched. Point your index fingers and then put them straight down. Now turn your wrists out. Okay. When I say right hand, what that means is that you're going to bring your right hand, your right index finger up to the tip of your nose with the tip of your finger. Okay? And then you're going to put it straight back down. Okay? Just so we know it's the tips of the finger, not the pads and not the sides. Right? Tip of the finger, tip of the nose. So tip of the nose, not the bridge, not your upper lip, not your nostril. Don't poke your eye. Okay? I say it because I've seen it. Okay? So, when I say left hand, tip the nose, tip of the finger, put it straight back down. For the duration of this exercise, your eyes are going to be closed and your head's going to be tilted back like that. Okay. All right. Give me one second. Let me know, officer. All right. Starting position. Feet together. Fingers hands clenched. Fingers down, wrist turned down. Okay, got head tilted back. And we'll begin with right hand. You said I'm sorry. Did you say right hand or left? I did say right hand, but I meant left. So, you actually got it right and I didn't even uh So, we'll start that one over again just cuz I I said right and I'm looking at left right here on my pad cuz I I have the pattern set up and I said right. No worries. No worries. I didn't hear nothing. Okay. So, let's start again. All right. Right hand. No, no, no, no. Wait, wait till I give you a worries. Okay. Head tilted back. Okay. Left hand. Right hand. Left hand. Right hand. Right hand. Oh, wait. You said right. Sorry. Sorry. Left hand. Keep your head tilted back. All right. So feet together, arms relaxed by your side, eyes closed, head tilted back just like that and remain in that position. Okay, at this point in time, I place you under S for DUI. Okay, that's driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage, a chemical or controlled substance. I'm going to request a breath test to determine the alcohol content of your breath. Will you be willing to supply a breath test? Okay. All right. At this point in time, we're going to go to the breath test facility. Okay. We'll take you down there and uh we have the instrument there. I do not have the instrument with me today. Okay. All right. Any phones in the car that you want to bring with you? It's my cell phone. I don't know where. I don't know where. Okay, no worries. Really scared. Okay, we we'll take care of it. Okay, this is strictly just for the car. What is this? That is my key tag to find my keys. It's just my my tile. All right. Leave the the car key with the car. That's okay. That's fine. All right. You want to put her in your car and we'll go from there. And I'll take care of I got to take care of some stuff here on scene. Okay. All right. I'll be right. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty. Thank you for watching.
