He was then transported to Oklahoma County Jail. According to the police report, the victim was found with unspecified injuries to her head and face. Officers later discovered that she had been held against her will for the past few [music] days and that Elijah had assaulted and strangled her during that time. Elijah was charged with kidnapping, [music] domestic assault and battery by strangulation, attempted lararseny of an automobile, endangering [music] others while eluding police, assault and battery upon a police officer, threatening an act of violence, and domestic assault and battery. His bond was set at $100,000, which he posted and [music] was released. In early June, the bond was exonerated and Elijah was returned to custody. Elijah was formally arraigned in September where he entered a not-uilty plea. The counts of kidnapping and domestic assault and battery by strangulation were dropped by request of the state and the trial is scheduled for February 9th, 2026. This is not the first time that Elijah has gone to trial after breaking the law. On December 19th, 2019, Elijah shot a man twice following an altercation inside the Penn Square Mall. He was found [music] guilty of assault and battery with a deadly weapon and sentenced to eight months time served and a $5,000 fine. Elijah is currently at the Oklahoma County Detention [music] Center awaiting trial and is innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. If you let your mind drift on patrol, someone's going to pay. And if you're not careful, somebody can pay with their life. Every cop knows the life of patrol. Hours of calm, your coffee getting cold in the cup holder, thinking about what you're going to eat for dinner when you get home. Then usually something jerks you awake. That's instincts and reality reminding you of where you are. It's about knowing what your job really is, and that's to protect life. Because when you have a suspect like this who doesn't stop and a kidnapping unfolded right in front of you, you rely on your training that you had to do again and again until they're part of your muscle memory. This is why I love the pit maneuver because it's controlled and it can stop a fleeing vehicle without bullets or luck. Now, of course, departments don't just allow the pit maneuver. They make sure officers are trained for it first. Because without training, you're not making a tactical decision. You're just risking a body. And the longer you're on this job, the more you realize the real divide isn't between heroes and villains. It's between moments you act with discipline and the moments you let impulse get ahead of you. Now, when dealing with the pit maneuver, some people may see a hard stop and impact. However, what looks heavy-handed to some is sometimes the last thing standing between someone and the ICU hospital bed. Now, the suspect in this clip chose not to go quietly and fought a bit. But I want you to remember this. Officers can't afford hesitation in moments like that because on the street, one second a doubt can cost somebody their life. And you can see the weight on one of the officers' face afterwards. And those moments don't just end when the scene clears. They stay with you whether you talk about it or
