I went through his phone >> here. Go make sure that beats. >> He's taking a trip in a couple of days. >> Okay. >> To go out of town and he's been complaining to me about rent. We don't have enough money for rent. But he's taking a trip out of town. We're going to take a machine. >> Okay. >> Where's the baby now? >> There sleep. >> Okay. All right. Let's go back inside and and sit down. Do you need a beverage? >> No. looking at my daughter. >> Absolutely. Absolutely. >> Let me let me go. >> It's my fault. >> No. Hey. Hey, babe. It's not your fault. Okay. It is not your fault. >> I'm so tired. You don't understand. >> Come on. Let me go get you a clipboard. Okay. What happened physically? >> We were yelling. We were We were yelling. Um he went downstairs to his room. I pulled up. the fact that I pulled up the bank account so that he could see that I I knew what it was. He came upstairs and then we started arguing upstairs. Then we were really loud and I could hear the kids go. We argued in the bathroom. I tried to walk away. We went we walked downstairs to try to like get away from like the upstairs area where the kids were. We just kept yelling. We just kept yelling. >> Okay. Who said stop hitting her? She's bleeding. >> What? Who said that? >> Do you remember? >> I don't know. I didn't call. >> I know you didn't call. That's what the neighbors heard. >> I don't I don't know. >> Did a say that? Was he yelling at >> If he was your spouse, I didn't hear him. >> I understand. It's It's all little loud and crazy and overwhelming. >> I could understand that they heard us, but I didn't understand. >> Where did he hit you? >> I don't have any bruises. >> You don't have to. >> He didn't hit me anywhere. >> Did he push you? >> He didn't push me. He pushed the door that I was standing on. >> Okay. where he like came. He hit the wall that I was the door that I was standing at. >> Okay. >> I don't know who called or if someone in the house called. I'm not I don't have any bruises on me. He didn't >> You don't You don't You don't have to have bruises, sweetie. >> Well, he didn't hit me. >> Okay. >> He didn't push me or like punch me or smack me or anything like that. >> Okay. Our arguments get loud and they get intense. We don't physically hit each other. >> Are you okay, my dear? >> Yes, I'm fine. >> All right. No injuries or anything that you're worried about or >> No, but if you need to check me if you need >> as long as you're okay, I'll take you word for I just want to make sure we're just here for you. If you needed something from us, we glad to help you. But if you're feeling okay and just no bleeding or anything like that, then then I'll let you finish up with these folks. Okay. You okay? >> All right. If you need that, >> can I get you to step inside with me real quick? >> Absolutely. >> All right. Oh, she needs a clipboard. I was going to get that. I took a probe. >> Uhhuh. >> So, I'm not going to the hospital for a probe and I figured they probably didn't want me doing this in the middle of the street. >> That's So, this got you there? >> Yeah. I just took one so I didn't get the whole thing. >> Okay. And was it Did you have to pull it out or did it Did it go >> Well, my pants pulled it out, but yeah, I got a good job. >> Okay. All right. >> Do you have alcohol wipe? So they're very sterile because the electricity, all that stuff. So they're very clean. The heat from it is generated. So that's why they cut her eyes and don't bleed. >> No, you're fine. >> She says that he pushed the door that she was on, but like no direct physical contact happened. >> So I mean, I'm thinking >> simple assault, simple battery. He said he tried he said his story is he tried to huck her after they got done with an argument we you know I'm >> well see they were yelling and screaming when we walked up >> I heard him through the inside yelling and hollering. All right so Muhamad tell me what was going on between you and your wife. >> Okay. So we're arguing because I went to California to visit a friend and she was under the impression that I cheated on her. >> Okay. Um, I keep telling her I didn't do it, I didn't do it, I didn't do it. We've been going back and forth about it. You know, I'm also upset because the rent is due soon and I've been working really hard to get it paid and I asked her for help and you know, she refused to give me help. So, for me, I was like, you know, like it's a big deal. So, we're going back and forth about it. Um, I'm like, you know, leave me alone. Da da. She's following me around. I'm like, leave me alone. Leave me alone. She's following me around. She's like, leave her alone. Then I was following her around. And then finally, we were just like, you know, forget it. But then she approached me and she was just like really upset and like crying and like screaming and she was like I can't believe you know you did this blah blah blah all this other stuff. I tried to hug her. She was like get your hands off of me and you know then I left her alone. Then you guys came banging at the door and then we already like split up and went our own like separate ways and you guys were banging at the door and then >> and I was like completely terrified. >> Well, we were banging at the door cuz we heard y'all. >> Yeah. >> Who said stop hitting her, she's bleeding? Nobody said that. >> Okay. That's the report that we got from one of your neighbors. They heard that. >> You said someone said, "Stop hitting her. She's bleeding." >> Yeah. >> Well, no one's bleeding, though. The only person who's bleeding is me from when I landed on the ground with you guys. >> Right. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Well, that's what that's what they reported. So, when I walked up to your door and I hear yelling and screaming at that level, >> I don't know what's going on, but I got to find out. >> Our neighbors are full of me. That's not what happened. I I put that on my license. >> He's not licensed. Um >> did he return? >> Yeah, he came back as since he did stay. He what was it called? Um he's uh you know I don't believe in the laws. Um >> oh constitutional carry the sovereign citizen. >> He's a sovereign citizen. So he doesn't have an ID but it shows that he's um being watched or whatever. This is the name that came back Muhammad. I mean it's that's his alias. >> All right. So, um, Officer Cruz said, "You don't have an ID?" >> I don't. I'm a sovereign. >> Okay. So, what is your What is your government name? >> I've never had a social security number. My government name is Muhammad of like Muhammad Abdul Rahim. I've never had anything. And every time I Every time I've ever dealt with the police, it's been the same thing. I' I've never I've literally never had anything. Like my parents were sovereigns. >> Where did you grow up? >> I grew up in DC and here. So, like back and forth. >> Be arrested for obstruction. >> For obstruction. >> Mhm. I ran back. >> Come on. I told you exactly why we went in and exactly why we were here. So, there's a lot going on that shouldn't have been. And all we needed you to do was talk to us. >> I swear I would never do that again. But being arrested for y'all literally paid me. >> We still need >> I learned I learned my lesson. I'm really sorry, detective. >> Well, the best part, if you have learned your lesson after this situation, we won't be back out here. But today you're going to the cab county for obstruction. This ain't nothing but a thing, y'all. Okay. It's a misdemeanor charge. You can bond out as soon as you find a bonding company and they process you. >> $500, I think. >> You You learn your lesson and you don't do it again. If you don't want to break up, they have resources like counseling, stuff for the kids, stuff for you, okay? Stuff for him. They can do group counseling. >> All right. This isn't the end of anything unless you want it to be. >> It is. fall. >> That's up to you. It's your choice. But don't go back to the way it was. >> You know, if y'all want to stay together, you've got to learn how to fight in a healthy manner. >> Hey everyone, it's Trent, prior deputy sheriff, patrol sergeant, and canine handler. So, the big issue here with this call is going to be the tasing of this suspect, right? So, the dispatch call for service that these officers received, we hear it. a neighbor overheard that argument next door, called in and said that they actually heard somebody yelling, "Stop hitting her. She's bleeding." Now, I've been to a lot of these types of calls and just a lot of calls in general during my time in law enforcement. Not all information provided to dispatch and then to law enforcement is going to be 100% accurate 100% of the time. Sometimes callers will exaggerate the situation, misinterpret, mishar things, or in certain circumstances lie about the situation, but that's the information these officers have to go off of. So when they show up to the front door and they hear that active argument and what it sounds like to this officer fighting going on inside the house coupled with that dispatch call for service, the totality of the circumstances there, it's going to lead any reasonable cop to believe that there is an active domestic violence situation going on inside the house. Now, as a cop, you do not need a search warrant to make entry into that home. You are legally allowed to do so. That is going to be one of the exceptions to the search warrant rule because it is an exigent circumstance, essentially an emergency to preserve and protect life and to ensure the safety of everyone involved in this incident. You can make entry to accomplish that. But because it is a domestic violence call, everybody that's potentially involved is going to be automatically detained in this situation. So these officers can conduct their investigation. But we see the suspect who claims to be a sovereign citizen and I have dealt with them before. Essentially, they do not believe that the laws apply to them. So, when he's told to stop resisting and to stay where he's at and to cooperate, we see him push off these officers and run outside. Now, this officer chooses to tase him to prevent him from fleeing the scene because he's potentially going to be a suspect in this domestic violence case to overcome the resistance that he just gave them and to affect ultimately what is going to be the arrest as opposed to chasing after him, going hands-on with him, and maybe fighting him to try to mitigate that chance of further injury to herself, other officers, and him. Not all cops would do that in this situation, but that is how this officer articulated doing what she did. And as far as the domestic violence goes, the female half, the victim in this case, she could be not telling the full truth. That is very, very common, unfortunately. But if the male suspect did push a door into her and it hit her, that is still going to constitute and qualify as domestic battery regardless of if he went hands-on or gave her any visible injuries. And that's going to be it for this one. See you guys in the next one. He was charged with obstruction and giving false name to the officers. [Music]
