Follow me. >> Walter Klimmek, more commonly known by his peers as Wally, served as police chief for the Bridgeview, Illinois Police Department from 2013 to 2016. [music] His official LinkedIn profile also lists his work experience including 37 years of law enforcement expertise and 14 years serving as head of security at United Trust Bank. Before Wally was transported to jail, he was taken to the hospital where reports indicate he refused a blood draw that would test his blood alcohol content. Wally was charged with resisting arrest and DUI and is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. >> Now in the time after Wally's arrest, the Bridgeview Police Department where he formerly served as police chief has avoided providing [music] any comment on the incident. However, the involved officers in the body cam footage who work for the Justice Illinois Police Department described Wally as hostile and uncooperative in their reports. When your own peers that are supposed to look up to you as a leader become the ones holding you accountable, it shows you have a complete lack of respect for the job and [music] the responsibilities that come with it, especially in the field of law enforcement where professionalism is the bare minimum standard. I once worked with a sergeant who was unprofessional and unpredictable, and if he didn't like you, you knew it. Of course, I was a younger officer at the time, but even then I could tell something deeper was going on. One day he was late for work. called him, and the sergeant said he was on his way. I was later they went to his house and found that he decided to clock out permanently. That stayed with me because it taught me something. What people are carrying in their personal lives has a way of showing up in their professional lives, and if those problems go unchecked long enough, they can become heavier than the person carrying them.
