On June 17th, 2026, deputies responded to a Puna Gorda neighborhood following a report that a man allegedly pointed a gun at fence workers and threatened to kill them while calling them racist names. >> Hey, is someone on someone go to his side? Hey buddy, you to my right. Come over this side for me. >> Keep coming. >> I'm just going to pat you down for weapons. Okay. Just turn around real quick. Just turn around for me. Put your hands on your head and lock your fingers. Thank you, sir. >> Hear my brace. >> I'm pretty sure that we were just here for the same type of call. >> Like three trailers back here. >> Oh, recently. >> All right. What's going on? >> I'm doing the job next door. I'm subcontracted the job and the neighbor came out. I mean, we're unloading material off the trailer we just brought in. >> Yes. Yesterday we took down some um some fence panels that were all my my job scope to do. I took them off and he came out just races and what what the neighbor >> the neighbor came out. He was like, "Who the are you guys? Why is this poles here? You You took this [ __ ] down. You better take these poles out. They're on my property. You better not put it back up." We just said no word. We We went back, continued unloading our material, came back to grab more stuff. He was like, "Who the are you? What are you doing here? Get your [ __ ] and get out." And I'm like, "Sir, you need to cut it out. I'm here to do a job. I'm not sure what the poles were there already. I'm not The poles are still there. >> I'm like, I didn't even uproot them yet. My job is to replace it. If I need to put it on your property line, I'll put it on the property line." He continued with the racer slurs, kept going, kept kept nagging at us. We kept on loading. I had You'll see all the material on there. I unloaded the whole trailer before he withdrew a gun on us because of him just going back and forth. And of course, me coming back to the trailer. I'm like, "Dude, you have no life. if you need to go inside, leave us alone. And then out of nowhere, you know, off of those, you know, confrontations going back and forth, he pulled a gun out on us. A revolver, a little small old revolver 22. I ran to my truck, my truck and grabbed my gun. >> When he pulled a gun out, what' he do? >> He pulled a gun out and pointed it at me and my brother. My brother was standing on top of the trailer. Could have shot him right down. >> Uh-huh. >> Yeah. So, I ran in my truck as he was pointed over there, grabbed my gun and told him to drop it or I'm dropping him. And and and then from there, he continued going to come back with me and I had to move around the truck. I didn't want to drop him and I'm like, "Damn, what the hell?" And he's my brother's on the phone with the guy what what you guys what trying to explain and like, "Dude, we have a we have a gun at us. Do I drop him?" And and I'm I don't know what do you do? Do I drop him or what? You know, he's just moving around and I'm like, "Do I drop him? When do I drop him?" You know, I'm I'm done. You know, it's my life on the line. He pulled the gun out on us. I'm like, "What the?" And he's with the racist slurs and I doubt he thought that I had a gun. >> So, what what side is it? He he he stays on the right side. >> Yeah. When you're coming down, you seen us come on the other side of my Toyota. He's the neighbor >> from the black truck. >> No, sir. Right next door to the black truck. On the right side, driver's side is his house. He's sitting right out there on the truck. >> Deputies slowly approach the homeowner with their weapons drawn, preparing to disarm him. >> Waving right now. >> All right. I'm right behind you. Keep them up on me. >> Keep your hands up. >> Put your hands up on me. Hey. >> Hey, can you keep your hands up? >> I don't need my hands up. >> I want I just want >> over here and talk to me. >> Yeah, we'll come talk to you. We just want you to keep your hands up when we walk up there. >> I just want to make sure >> I can't hear you. I'm bad guys. Come up to me. Want to make sure I can see your hand. >> I know that. Listen, you point the gun. >> Yes, sir. >> I just want to make sure. >> Yes, sir. I sure did. I was protecting my property. >> Are you by yourself here in the house or is there >> No, I got renters that live there. >> Okay. Where is the gun right now? >> Put away. >> Perfect. >> Now, >> can we discuss what was going on today? >> Yeah. >> All right. I asked him not to put that fence up first. They took the fence down. It's on my property. They never come over and asked me. >> The old man put the fence up and I told him it was on the property line. And I showed him. He knows where the stake is out there cuz we we paid for the survey on this property. >> So he asked me, "What do I want to do?" I said, "Nothing right now." >> So I come out, fence is gone. >> My renter said they took the fence down. I said, "Let's see what they're going to do. And I'll try to come on over here, officer. [laughter] Make yourself make yourself the home. Anyway, my render says they're putting the fence up. So, I come over there and ask what they're doing. And they say, "We're putting the fence up." I said, "Good. Just don't put it on my property line this time." They laughed and snarled, made smart remarks to me. And I told them, I said, "Look, you if you put this fence up on my property, I'm going to burn it down. I'm telling you right now. now pull these posts out and put them over on his property, not on mine. They got the mouthing off to, you know, telling me they're going to do what they want and all. So, I mound off some more to them. And then he said something about, "Well, I got a gun." And I said, "Well, you done with me." And I just exactly what I told him. Are y'all recording this? >> Good. I told him that he me sitting right there on the end of my trailer that the Undertaker would be the last one to wipe his ass for him. And then he told me he had a gun. I said, "Well, I got one, too." I pulled mine out and they both ran. He ran into his truck, grabbed his gun, stood up on the front there like he's going to shoot me. So I got behind the trailer, called 9 run. >> You guys were in the standoff? >> Yeah. >> All right. Where's the gun? You said put up it on your person? >> No, sir. Okay. >> You want the I took everything out my pocket. So you >> mind if he just patched your pockets real quick just to make sure? >> We don't want any accidents happening. >> Here, let me pull my shirt up and see my fat belly. >> You're good. You're good. He can feel He can feel it if it's there. >> I got you, my man. We're good. All right. >> Can you describe the gentleman that you got into the confrontation with? >> Yeah, they're both have curly hair. The one's got it coming out back there in the knot. >> Okay. >> Who threatened you? >> The uh one with the hair coming out of the back of his and then and a ponytail knot. >> What he said? >> The one that said he had a gun. The one that I told that he would be the tailor the under if he me the undertaker be the last one to wipe his ass. Are you recording? I hope so. You are >> so that it's no there's no change of story. >> No, there's no change of story. the same. >> Which one said that to you? >> The one with the curly hair that sit in a ponytail. >> Okay. >> 422 central. >> Okay. And then and then you said uh you made the comment about the Undertaker to the long hair guy. The taller guy. >> Both of them. >> Both of them. >> Both of them were standing there together. >> All right. What did the shorter one say? >> 517. >> I don't know which one's the shorter one. >> Okay. One's tall, one's short, one has long hair. Um did any of them make any comments to you other than >> he said he had a gun, too. And I said, "Well, go get it." I pulled mine out. >> Which one? >> The one with the ponytail. >> Okay. >> He's the one that went and got his gun out of the truck. >> And then when you got your gun out, which one went back to the truck and retrieve their firearm? >> The one with the ponytail. >> Is there anything covering his head? >> They're half Puerto Rican to me or something. >> Okay. Deputy that's going to come down here is going to get a sworn >> on down. >> Yeah. He's going to get a sworn statement from you. >> My house. You want to follow me? >> No. No. We're going to stay right here. >> No, sir. We're not. We're going to go get me a pack of cigarettes. No. We're going to stay right here. Don't put your hands on me. You have cigarettes right there. There's none in it. >> All right, we're not leaving right here. >> Well, it's a tough [ __ ] If you don't want to come with I'll damn it. >> If you do, I'll beat your ass. >> Help me. He's trying. >> Wait. Send me another unit over here. >> Cigarettes. >> Help me. >> He's trying to You're hurting my wrist. Let up. >> No, I'm not letting up. I'm not letting up. Roll him over. >> What are you trying to do? Slow down. Slow down. Slow down. Slow down. Slow down. >> Roll over. On your stomach. >> No. on your stomach. >> I can't breathe. >> We're going to roll you over as soon as you get in handcuffs. Put your hand behind your back. >> I'm not playing card. >> Stop. >> Roll me over. >> Stop. Hold on. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. >> Help. >> Relax. >> I can't breathe. >> Hold on. >> Thank you. >> You want to cuff them and then >> I got your bag. >> She came over here to help me. >> Officer. >> No. Shut up. >> Don't tell me to shut up. >> Stop. Come here and give me a hand of my inhaler, please. >> We have one in custody. >> Give me my inhaler, officer. >> It's right there next to you. >> Ow, you hurt my hand. >> All right, sit just like that. Give me >> Give me a >> Give me a Give me a shot of that inhaler there, young man. >> Right behind you, sir. >> We see it. He's only got 30%. >> He's got some >> a sitting up fine. >> I I can't with my health. >> Okay. >> You're going to have to help me up a couple. >> Just We're going to leave you right here until EMS comes and sees you. >> I'm sitting in ants if you don't mind getting me up. I pray for them. Yeah, they're all over the place. >> Can't hear you. >> All right. If you could help me up. >> Yeah, I think we're just going to shift them over. 57 over here. How's that over there? >> Yeah. Set me down on my chair there. Where >> this one here? You want this here? >> Just move. Yeah. Just That's my bug spray. >> Yes, sir. Yeah. I'm just moving it so you have room. >> Can you guys help me out? Let me sit down. >> Here. >> I'll do the best. Just hold on. Just hold. >> Just hold on. Let me uh >> I'm holding. Yep. My wrists are really bad. >> We're going to We're going to try to >> Can you put them in front of me? >> Uh we can do that, sir. I apologize. Can you do something with them? Cuz they're digging into my hand. Listen, we're going to lift them. You're going to lean up against us. Okay. One, two, three. >> Oh, these things are digging into my hands. Something with them. >> All right. Sit down. >> All right. >> You're hurting me. >> I hope you're filming this. >> Everything's ow. >> Hey. Hey. They're They're loose. >> We got this. Did you double lock them? Make sure they're double lock. Uh, I don't know. >> They are now. >> Listen, they're loose. >> No, they're not. They're digging into my arm. >> That's as loose as we can do right now. >> Are you related? >> EMS is going to come check you out, but we're not GOING TO PUNCH YOU. >> OW. OW. [screaming] YOU'RE HURTING ME, SON. >> LISTEN, I'm I'm barely touching you. >> Yeah, but you're hugging my wrist. >> Ow. >> Which house do you live at, sir? [snorts] >> Next door. >> We're going to leave it. >> Next door or here? wife. Why do you need to know that? >> We need to know where you live. >> You don't need to know nothing. And I'm not talking to you no more. Send your investigator down here. >> I'm not talking no more to you. >> Send your investigator down here. >> Watch me. >> Cuz you're a punk and you throw me down on the ground. >> You were already on the ground. I didn't throw you on the ground. >> Speak up where I can hear you. >> You just tripped me and throwed me on the ground. >> That wasn't me. No, you were already on the ground when I got here. Oh, well, same with me. You were >> investigate and let me go. >> I done nothing wrong except protect my property >> and that's all I'm going to say. >> It's going to be a little chaotic here for a little bit. >> I see that. >> Only because >> Tell me what like what is he being arrested for? Like what are the charges as of right now that you know of? >> It's a assault. >> Aggrav aggravation. can't you you have a right to defend yourself on your property, but you can't point a gun at somebody without your life being threatened or some exit circumstances. When you point a gun at somebody, you tell them you're going to >> So, are they being arrested? >> We're interview We have everyone detained. >> Everybody, >> that's what I figured cuz I didn't see that. >> We got a group detained down here. We got him detained down here and we're going to let the detectives figure it all out. >> Out of curiosity, ultimately if they pulled the gun first though, >> they could be. Yeah. >> And he would be okay cuz he is on his Maybe, maybe. We don't know yet. >> So, likely the charges are going to be aggravated assault with deadly weapon without intent to kill either side. >> Could be. >> If I could pull up the camera, see what happens. >> Maybe. Yeah, they're detectives are going to ask you for it cuz they're going to see it. So, they they may want to know if you guys can show them footage to help support his story because >> Yeah, absolutely. >> Sometimes that's their biggest advocate is a camera, right? >> And that's the honestly I watch time shows cuz that's what I do. I don't know why, but >> So, >> he says it's because I plan on planting something. >> I say the same thing sometimes. >> Yeah, I know. >> I get it. >> I don't authorize y'all to be in my yard or tape up either. >> Well, I want you to know that. >> That's fine. You don't have to. But you don't have that luxury anymore. >> I don't have what? >> You don't have that luxury anymore. >> It's not a luxury. It's a right. I own this place. >> That's fine. You You're right. You do own it or you have the rights to it. But we're here in conducting a criminal investigation. So we have the right to be here. >> Okay. >> You know what the truth is. You got it. I got it on film right there in my >> Well, can we see it? >> Say that again. >> Can we see it? >> You can see it. >> Well, yeah. That would help us make our >> Yeah, I told you it was there. I told you I filmed it all. Just pictures of them. >> Okay. Filmed it from the very very beginning or >> No, just afterwards when he pulled the gun and started mouththing off and pulled the gun. >> Okay. >> What was supposed to happen today? Um, so today, like I said, I just knocked on the door. I was here just to bring some some material. If I can start, I can start. I knocked on the door just to make sure I before I started, I was doing the proper job. Um, you know, according to him and what Pat taught cuz I'm kind of the middleman on the subcontractor. Okay. >> Um, >> so I got here, I started, we talked, and then after I said, "Okay, we'll just start unloading the material." 5 minutes after I unloaded like one or two boards. The neighbor came out. Um, and from there was just like, "What what are you what the are you guys doing here?" Okay. >> And I was like, I didn't even reply. He was just going, he was just spluring, spilling out. And we just looked at him >> and bit our tongues and continue unloading. >> Uh, we dropped our load, came back, and he was just like, "You got you you hear me?" And was just kind of like nagging. So then we of course had a sir. And he was like, "Speak up. I'm deaf." And we were like, "What? Go inside. What's what's your issue? We're here to perform and work." And he was like, "Well, you touched my fence." Well, no. He said, "Well, this fence right here is on my property, and you need to if you don't put this [ __ ] back here." And it was already existing. All I did was took off the panels. Like I told you, I didn't even remove the post that were existing. I left them there. So when I put my new post in, I knew where to put them back. But he was saying that they were on his property line. >> Okay. So he was disputing that. >> Yeah. He was disputing that very aggressive. Okay. And was was telling me those things and I didn't we weren't even working there. We were unload in the trailer. But from from there he just kept, you know, saying racial slurs like, "I don't want you in my neighborhood performing work." Um, and it got to the point where we had to tell him to quiet down, pipe down. We're just here to perform work and do what we need to do. Uh, if you can go inside. >> Where was he standing when he was saying this? >> So he right at the post. right on on >> at the post of the fence that you took just the panel off. >> So he was standing next to exist existing old post. Okay. >> And he has a old rusted truck bed. Just the bed, not the truck. So it was just the bed. Um parked right there in the very front and he sat on the tailgate. >> So he sat there for 25 minutes. We were probably going back and forth. Never moved. When he came from the house to there, he stayed there for 25 minutes >> next to the post or on the tailgate. >> On the tailgate. Sat there watching us. Every time we unloaded, came back, he had another smart remark to say. Um, just >> just being petty. >> Just being petty. Brought up my mom, all this. And I'm like, dude, how old are you? Mom jokes. You know what I'm saying? So, it just got to the point where Yeah. He didn't like what we were kind of saying back to him. And he out of nowhere up drew a gun out of me. >> How where did he get the gun from? >> He had the gun in his pocket the whole time. He never left. Yes. So, he came and approached us already with the gun. >> You just didn't know it? >> I just didn't know that. And he had already told me, "I'll kill you guys." Threatened our lives. Said that he will kill us. And I told him, "Sir, you don't we we don't want those problems and and we don't want to go there." >> Did you say it just like that? >> I said it just like that. I said, "Sir, we don't want those problems. We don't want to go there. That that's you could have came up totally different." He's like, "Ah, you guys, you guys didn't want you guys are putting this [ __ ] on my property." And I'm like, "Sir, I can I told him from the beginning, I can always move it. You know, if it was on your property and I go look at the point, I'll tell Pat the GC, hey, this client, the neighbor came out saying that this was on his property. We have to talk to Dick and tell Dick we have to move it. >> But he didn't let it go there. He he want he was there to >> How early into that 25 minutes did he say >> he was going to shoot me? >> He he said he was going to shoot me >> probably 10 minutes in it because I was still going back and forth unloading things because I didn't think he had a gun on him. Cuz at that point he's just talking. >> He's just talking. So when he pulled a gun out and pointed at me first initially, my heart dropped. >> Did he do that while he was sitting on the tailgate? >> He got up off the tailgate and was like, "What' you say?" >> How far from you to the tailgate? >> 10 10 ft. I was probably here to the fence cuz he was on his property. >> Where is it from here? >> Where my black? Right in front of that white truck. >> So me and him were on the other side of the trailer. >> You and your brother. >> Me and my brother were on the >> You're standing over here. Go ahead. material here. We were unloading them >> right there >> and right over there stacking it up and we were already doing that at this point. Like I said, 5 minutes when we were already unloading, he had came over from the driveway and had came and st >> he came and stand right here. And then he was like, "You guys took this fence down." He was like, "You mother better not put it back up. This is on my property. The pin's over there." And we didn't say anything. Like I said, I was just like guy. with the like I didn't know how to take it. >> Um so and I'm the owner so I didn't want you know my you know I didn't want anything to go south so um I just stayed quiet and then from there he just he came right here and then he sat right here. He sat down right here or right here >> down on the standing right here. Yeah. Watching us every >> So he stays right here for about 25 minutes just like that. >> And you're standing right here. >> Standing right there. I'm going back and forth unloading and unloading. Um, take me up to the point where he said, um, initially he said he was going to kill you, but he said, "I'll shoot you right now." >> But no gun in his hand. You guys just have no idea. >> How did we get to the point that the gun came out? Take take me there. >> So, we were bickering back and forth. He was >> Now you're exchanging words. >> Yes, we're exchanging words. And he said he's deaf, so I'm kind I'm loud. I have to be loud. He said he can't hear me. So, we're loud and and and I think that's when the neighbor came out and stuff, but >> that neighbor over there. >> Yeah, that neighbor across the street. So he came he he was he was bickering and got loud. I was loud with him and like I said he was saying mama jokes and I was like you're you're old fart or something you know and then he was just like what did you say and he pulled it out instantly. So he pointed it at me. I was standing right there and then from there I couldn't tell you cuz he went from here to went to there. My brother was standing on top of the trailer cuz he was helping me get it from that end and put it up here. So >> So he's holding that end of the wood and you're holding this end. >> I'm holding it. I'm pulling up the front. He's getting down grabbing one side. I'm grabbing one side and we're unloading it. So, he went from pointing it right here at at at me and when I seen it, two hands on the gun and then he pointed it at him. When he pointed at him, I darted to my truck and I had went ahead and grabbed my pistol. >> Okay. And where's that gun now? >> It's on the seat. If you open the door, it's probably on my seat. >> Oh, here behind this Milwaukee. >> Yes. Keep it out to the side. And I told him to drop his gun on me. >> Did he see you with it? >> Yeah. and he started coming at me and we were like my brother's on the phone with you guys and he's like he's got a gun point out of me and I didn't know to shoot him or not. So I went to the front right here to get a better angle and he and then he went like this. He started he started going around >> taking cover. >> Yeah. And and started going around and he was trying to make his way and I just didn't know what to do. I I didn't know if I should just shoot him and drop him or what I was supposed to do but >> So you just held what you had? >> I held what I had. I didn't want to have guilty conscience of taking somebody's life. Deputies speak with a neighbor who witnessed the confrontation from across the street. >> Can you tell me what you know about the incident? >> So, I heard yelling going and I just came out here and sat out here. >> What What were you doing when you heard the yelling? >> Uh, inside the house. >> Doing what? >> Uh, working on stuff >> in the kitchen in the living room and >> the house >> in general. Okay. And but um you were able to hear what was going on outside. It was loud enough. >> Yeah. Yeah. Okay. >> And uh came out here seen the two guys just trying to work. I seen them in the uh trailer unloading stuff. Uh Shelton kept yelling at it. I heard uh he put that fence one inch on my property. I'm going to burn it. yada yada yada. Um back and forth yelling at each other. >> What was your perception of what was going on? >> I Shelton definitely was instigating it. >> Who's Shelton? >> The guy at the uh house at the Suburban and stuff. >> Okay. Did you see him outside or see where he was at? >> Outside. Yep. >> Where was he at? >> Over by that uh truck bed. >> The one that's standing by itself in the yard. >> Yeah. >> Yep. >> So, uh >> so he was um you called him Shelton. The neighbor was by the uh singular truck bed that's like detached in the front yard. >> Yeah. >> And um after a while more back and forth and I heard some racial slurs on Shelton's behalf >> like what? >> Uh half and you better call me sir. You have and >> Okay. >> stuff like that. >> Okay. Any threats? Um well getting there and then I seen them scatter and there I heard that he's got a gun. Uh >> who said that? Do you recall? >> One of the >> one of the brothers. >> Yeah, one of the brothers. >> And they jumped off the trailer. Other one grabbed it. So Shelton was like, "I'll blow your head off or something along the lines of that." >> Okay. >> That's basically gist of it. It was 20-minute standoff before y'all got here. >> Okay. >> And uh yeah. um to your perception. I know you heard the yelling, so obviously it was already underway by the time you came outside and started seeing with your own eyes what was going on >> before up until I came out. It was just back and forth verbal >> and they Yeah, verbal. They were just minding their own business trying to unload the trailer still. >> Okay. >> In the midst of it, Shelton kept intervening and hollering. And >> to your perception, could you tell who the victims were and who the aggressors were? The victim, the brothers were the victims. >> And what makes you say that? >> They were minding their own business for the most part. was trying to unload everything and Shelton came up here all aggressive >> much like they're doing right now. >> Yeah, exactly. Unloading the trailers. One was in the trailer, the other trying to business, do their job. >> Okay. >> He was charged with aggravated assault with deadly weapon without intent to kill and resisting officer without violence.
