In the end, investigators said witness statements and surveillance footage from the parking lot helped piece together what really happened that night on the September 2nd, 2024. The video showed Melissa House pushing her husband, Jeffrey House, before getting into her car, backing up, and driving over him. Prosecutors later charged her with first-degree murder and aggravated DUI causing death. Faced with the evidence, including witness accounts and CCTV footage from the Dollar General parking lot, she ultimately pleaded guilty on March 11th, 2025. Melissa House was sentenced to 20 years in prison, bringing the case from Dix, Illinois to a close.
