And it looks completely ridiculous, but as a cop, you have to stand in the middle of it and try to figure out who's actually in danger, if anyone, because she's got blood on her face and her emotions are still raw. But she says nothing happened. And I've been here before. I've tried to reason with people. I explain the risk laid out what comes next. Still no cooperation, just a wall you can't talk through. The worst part isn't walking away. It's knowing you'll be back cuz you've seen the script over and over, and it never ends clean.
