On December 11th, 2024, the Dallas Fort Worth Airport Police Department was called to the scene at the airport for a call regarding a potentially intoxicated woman in the airport. The following shows the bodywn camera footage of what happened during the incident. >> Yeah. >> Who do you fly with? You got a flight crew on your backpack? >> American. >> American. >> Yeah. >> So, you're you're you're a flight attendant with American. No, I'm a captain. >> You're a captain. Okay. So, you're a pilot? >> Yes, ma'am. >> Would you get behind? >> If you were to schedule from DFW to Denver right now, being the captain of that flight, would you fly an aircraft right now? >> I need to stay. >> Um, she [snorts] said she has not been I mean, she's not threatening or anything. The issue is that she I personally think at this point she might be a danger to self and needs to go to the hospital. She says she is not intoxicated. The problem is the flight crew provided me these two items. She was drinking from this and after sipping on this like either popping on that. the issue at hand. She says she hasn't had anything to drink, but >> I can smell it. >> Yeah, she's been drinking from this the entire time she was on board. >> So, she said the one in the red sitting down with the glasses. >> Yeah, with the p with her captain. >> I can't see the cab because of the photo. She says she's not intoxicating. >> Put his hands up to see that something is clearly wrong. >> Is she trying to connect anywhere or >> No, she's done here in D. She's she's done here in DFW. But again, just we're not sure that it's really safe for her to go on her own at this point. >> Yeah, we'll talk to her. >> Okay. Thank you. be in the seating area. >> Hello. >> Hello. >> Hey guys. >> We're going to call. I'm just concerned about your welfare. >> I know. And I'm just kind of worried about it. >> What's going on? >> I don't I >> We got off the airplane. The lead flight attendant told me that this lady's name is Cheryl, first name. >> Okay. >> That she left. She didn't take her bag with her. forgot her bag and she seemed to be stumbling a little bit and the concern was she might be having an episode, possible stroke, something like that. So, I walked up halfway up the jet bridge and she's leaning against the wall, not 100%. So, we brought her bags up. We walked her out here. >> She's been uh getting her wits about her more as as time goes on. Uh and so that but because she >> 10 minutes ago was having issues getting up the ramp, we I asked the uh supervisor to call the paramedics. >> Okay. >> Take a look. >> They called us and take a look. >> I know. Do >> you have any history of stroke or anything like that? >> No, sir. >> Nothing like any medical conditions? >> No, sir. >> Diabetes? >> No, sir. >> Cheryl, is this this is your final destination? >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. How are you getting picked up or what? >> No, sir. >> Okay. Do you have a car here? Yes, sir. >> Okay. >> So, do you plan on driving and >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. >> You know where you're at right now? >> Yes, sir. >> Where we at? >> We're at DW and I've got a car here. >> Okay. >> And Yeah. No. >> So, where where's home for you? >> Mansfield. >> Mansfield. So, that's a bit of a drive from from the airport. >> Yeah. No, that's what it is. >> Okay. So, they they showed us a Coke bottle in there and obviously there was some alcohol in that Coke bottle. Well, what are you doing on? >> No, I don't know. >> Yeah. No, I don't know. >> No, my my house is at Mansfield. >> So, Cheryl, yeah, the somebody found a a big like 1 and 1/2 liter bottle of Coke and there's there's alcohol in there, too. So, have you have you been drinking? >> No, sir. >> It's not illegal to drink, but concern would be you drinking and driving on the way home. That would be our concern. No, >> sir. >> So, you you do you seem I don't know you, Cheryl, but you seem you seem out of it. Okay. So, I'm I'm a little concerned. My partner's a little concerned. >> Do you uh I we don't want to make things difficult. Do you have Do you live alone or do you have somebody there? >> I have I'm sorry. >> Do you have somebody at home that can come that can come get you? >> Oh, yeah. I could >> cuz I whatever's going on with you, whether it's alcohol or a medical condition, I don't you don't need to be driving. >> I >> I got I got nothing. >> We've had multiple people saying you've had a difficult time walking and you've been stumbling up the jet bridge. I mean, that that's a cause for concern behind the wheel. >> No, I got nothing. >> Okay. So, you don't remember not being able to walk? >> Not being able to walk. >> Yes, ma'am. >> No. Do >> you remember where you flew in from? >> Sorry. >> Do you remember where you flew in from? >> Yeah, I came in from Denver. >> Okay. >> You know what day of the week it is? >> Oh, Wednesday. >> Wednesday. Okay. You know what month it is? >> Yeah. It's like uh June. >> Yeah. All right. Just be real with us, Cheryl. Okay. How much How much alcohol was in that Coke bottle? >> There's none. >> Was there whiskey in there? >> Oh my god. No. >> We're Okay. So, not to be not to be mean. We're not We're not We're not stupid. >> No. No. >> So, you need to be honest with us and let us know how much you had. Do you take medication? >> Um, >> is it normal for you to slur words? Cuz you are right now. >> Um, no. >> Okay. You don't remember having a Coke like that on your flight over here? >> You want to bring Coke bottle closer? >> Yeah. No. >> So, this isn't your Coke bottle and oxygen? >> Yeah. No, >> that's not at all. >> No. >> No. I mean, you should look through my bags. >> Well, we don't need to do that. >> Yeah. No, you're welcome to. >> I mean, appreciate it. But so the flight crew pulled that off and that's where you were sitting at. >> That's where that Coke bottle was. >> So we can smell alcohol on your breath. Yeah. I can smell this far away from you. >> Really? >> Yeah. >> Oh, okay. What do I need to do? >> What? What's your plan? >> Go home >> right now. >> Yeah. No, just go home. So, you think you're physically capable of driving right now? >> I think so. >> You think so? >> Yeah. I mean, >> that's a that shows a a pretty big lack of judgment. >> Yeah. >> Who do you fly with? You got a flight crew on your backpack? >> American. >> American. >> Yeah. >> So, you're you're a flight attendant with American? >> No, I'm a captain. >> You're a captain. Okay. So, you're a pilot? >> Yes, I am. >> I know. >> Yeah. I mean, what if what >> the concern is we have reason to believe you've been consuming alcohol. You got on your breath. You're slurring your words. That was on your seat where you were at and you're telling us you want to drive home after you've been stumbling on a jet bridge. That that's a that's an issue with us. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> Okay. No, that's >> You see how that's a line of poor choices? >> Nope. It's fine. Whatever you guys >> Would you fly an aircraft right now if you were the captain? Yes, sir. >> You would. >> What? Whatever I need to do. >> You're not I don't think you're I don't think you're comprehending. Would you get behind? >> If you were to schedule from DFW to Denver right now, being the captain of that flight, would you fly an aircraft right now? >> Ever. I need you to. >> All right. Can you stand up for a show? >> You're under arrest. >> You got to go with us till you sober up. All right. All right. Uh you still have my I'm going to want it closely here. >> All right. Okay. So, it's just for public intoxication. Okay. This is the same line as this ticket. >> Is this all your bags right here? Yeah. Do >> you have any check bag? No. Oh yeah, this guard. We're going to walk this way, Cheryl. It's a little more open over here. >> What's up? >> Uh what's happening? >> She's public intoxication. She's drunk. >> Okay. >> Is this her badge? >> That's her bag. This is her badge. >> That's got to go with all her stuff. >> You got to take that as well. Okay. >> But she's going to be released in a few hours. She just has to sober up. Okay, fair enough for a second. I'm just doing this for our uh the union rep so I get that information. >> All right. I mean, this is on the same line as a speeding ticket, so we're not going to sit there and contact American or anything unless she's the one that reports it. >> Okay, gentlemen. Thank you very much. >> Thank you, guys. >> Okay, guys. Take a ride over here. That's what we're holding on >> to right now. >> Two years ago. >> Two years ago. All right. We're going to go out here. Okay. Doors are open. We're going to step down the curb right over here. All right. Step down. Okay. Feel how wobbly you are right now? >> No. I'm going to take the scarf off. >> Okay. >> No, it's fine. >> It's going to go with you. >> Yep. Thank you. >> You have any pockets in this jacket? >> Doesn't look like >> No, it's fine. >> Oh, no. It's fine. >> All the stuff's got to come out of your pocket. So, >> that's okay. It's fine. All right, we're going to go to the back seat over here. Okay. >> Okay. >> This way. >> Okay. Take a step up real quick. >> Okay. >> All right. Then we're ready to step down. Okay. >> Now, it's easier to go left foot up there and then kind of slide in. >> Okay. So, >> left foot. So, so left foot right here where my lights at and then 2819. >> Now, my my wrist fit a finger and I can fit a finger in there. Okay. >> Okay. All right. >> Yeah. I'm sorry. I just I got to >> What can we do to help you out? >> To take the cuffs off, so >> I know. No, it's fine. No, >> that's as loose as they're going to get now. >> Okay. No, it's it's all good. Nope, it's all good. >> N I'm going to fine. >> Yep. >> Could you help me? >> How would you like us to help you? >> Yep. Just >> How do you want us to help you? >> Nope. It's all good. >> Good. >> Slide right in there. >> No, it's all good. I got to get my foot up. Okay. Yep. Thanks, guys. >> Yep. >> Yep. >> Get that other foot up. >> Yep. Nope. Now, slide that leg inside. Okay. I know. >> I know it's not the most comfortable, but it's a short ride. >> I know it's fun. >> No, it's fine. >> She'll tell you that about a thousand more times. I haven't seen him flip on forever. >> 7:41 [clears throat] Okay. >> All right. >> Once you get in there, they're going to take them out for you. Okay. >> Okay. >> All right. So, one step at a time. Take your foot out. >> No. >> Yep. I'm sorry. >> It's okay. >> Yeah, I'm sorry. >> Come on. >> No, I'm I want I want to sit here. >> Oh, you you can um whenever you get inside, they'll let you lay down and everything. >> I know, but >> you got to get out of here. >> It's not good air circulation in here. >> One foot at a time. No, I I give up. >> Give up. >> Come on. I'm I'm going to have to remove you from this vehicle. Okay. >> I know. I know. >> So, come on. I'm going to do one foot at a time. Okay. >> I know. It just hurts. >> What hurts? >> No. My whole hands. >> Your hand? The only way you can get them off is if you step out of the vehicle. Okay. >> I know. >> So, come off. >> I'm so sorry. I'm just so >> Watch your feet. Yep. Come on. >> Yep. You ready? >> Yep. >> Okay. >> Right there.
