It had started near Bay Avenue. McGrath started to follow. The car kept weaving. This happened again near Route 36 and Rogers Street. Then, it turned onto Waterwitch Avenue. Because the driver still swerved, McGrath turned on his lights. He wanted to stop the car at Waterwitch Avenue and Bay Avenue. McGrath got out and talked to the driver. She was Alexa Kosovich, 24. He smelled alcohol. He also saw signs that she was not okay to drive. Alexa told McGrath she drank 3 to 4 High Noons earlier. Patrolman Robert Alvator arrived to help. He asked Alexa to get out. She needed to do some tests. Sergeant McGrath started with a vision test. He checked how her eyes followed a moving object. He saw her eyes did not move smoothly. They also jerked. They moved before he expected them to. Next was the Walk and Turn Test. Alexa did not step heel-to-toe. She also turned the wrong way. The last test was the One Leg Stand. Alexa did not hold her foot up right. She put it down too soon. Her bad driving, the alcohol smell, her admission to drinking, and failing the tests led to her arrest. Her passenger left the car. Patrolman Alvator gave the passenger a ride home. At the police station, Alexa heard a statement. She agreed to blow into a breathalyzer. The test showed her blood alcohol content was 0.162%. This is over twice the legal limit of 0.08%. After finishing the paperwork, she was let go. A sober adult took her home. She must go to court. Alexa received tickets for: driving drunk, reckless driving, and improper lane use. Alexa was arrested before. This includes: A DWI in Wall Township, New Jersey on September 7, 2024.
