On January 5, 2025, police in Plainfield, Illinois, responded to a call about a reckless driver and found a silver Jeep improperly parked between gas pumps with the engine running. The driver, 66-year-old David Southall, showed immediate signs of intoxication but surprised officers with his brutal honesty. Instead of denying it, Southall repeatedly admitted, "Yeah, I've been drinking and driving" and "You caught me." Despite his cooperation, he struggled to stand, required assistance to walk, and later blew a 0.220 BAC—nearly three times the legal limit.
