It really helps us do original reporting like this. 🔍 Episode Overview: On June 5, 2024, near 10 PM, police officers responded to Halsey Street. A car was stopped in the road, unoccupied. Officers found a Toyota Corolla blocking traffic. A woman was asleep in the driver's seat. She was identified as Lauren. She said she was waiting for her fiancé. As they spoke, officers smelled alcohol. They saw other signs of impairment. Lauren admitted she drank two White Claws. They asked her to get out of the car. She was asked to do field sobriety tests. Officer Sousa began with the Walk and Turn. Lauren missed touching heel-to-toe. She also raised her arms for balance. Next was the One Leg Stand. Lauren couldn't keep her foot raised. She put it down many times. The test stopped for safety. Lauren showed signs of impairment. She smelled of alcohol. She admitted drinking. She could not complete the tests. Lauren was arrested for driving drunk. Her car was towed for 12 hours. This was under John's Law. Officers took Lauren to the police station. They read her the Standard Statement. She agreed to give breath samples. After watching her for 20 minutes, they took her for an Alcotest. The test showed a BAC of 0.25%. This is over three times the legal limit. After the Alcotest, she returned to the station. She was processed. Then, Lauren was released. She must appear in court. Officer Sousa gave her tickets. These were for: Operating under the influence. Reckless driving. Careless driving. Obstructing traffic. Court records show Lauren was found guilty. This was on November 19, 2024. She had to use an ignition interlock device for 3 months. She spent 12 hours at a driver resource center. She also paid $383 in fines. The other tickets were dropped.
