On January 26, 2026, in Los Angeles, California, Highway Patrol officers attempted to stop a silver Infiniti Q50 traveling at speeds exceeding 75 miles per hour on Interstate 110. Officers also observed the vehicle displaying a paper license plate that appeared altered or improperly displayed before attempting an enforcement stop. Police bodycam and patrol vehicle footage captured the events that followed after the driver allegedly failed to yield to emergency lights and sirens, accelerating away at speeds officers estimated reached approximately 140 miles per hour during the pursuit rapidly weaving through traffic, making unsafe lane changes, and driving recklessly through the freeway corridor. The pursuit continued northbound on Interstate 110 before the driver lost control near El Segundo Boulevard and the Infiniti left the roadway, overturned multiple times, and collided with a guardrail and embankment before coming to rest. The driver was able to immediately self-extricate himself from the vehicle following the crash. The driver was transported to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center for treatment and later interviewed by investigators. Investigators alleged the pursuit may have been possibly connected to illegal street racing activity and recommended the case be submitted to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office for review and prosecution. The following charges were sent to the Los Angeles District Attorney's office: CVC 2800.2(a) — Felony Evading in a Reckless Manner CVC 4463(a)(1) — Falsify Registration CVC 23103(a) — Reckless Driving CVC 23109(a) — Speed Contest / Roll Race CVC 23109(c) — Exhibition of Speed All individuals are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. #police #chp #cops #california #bodycam
