On January 16, 2025, officers conducted a traffic stop after observing a vehicle commit a traffic violation. As officers approached the vehicle, they noticed the backseat passenger attempting to conceal something while signaling that he was pulling over. When contacted, the passenger became immediately hostile, yelling at officers and refusing commands. During the stop, officers observed what appeared to be a firearm magazine in the passenger’s pocket. When asked about it, the passenger refused to cooperate and declined to provide identification. As officers attempted to detain him, he became physically aggressive, striking an officer in the head and engaging in a violent struggle. Officers deployed a taser during the altercation and were eventually able to gain control after a prolonged fight. After being removed from the vehicle, the suspect continued resisting before being secured in handcuffs. Officers documented injuries from the encounter, and the suspect was transported for medical evaluation prior to booking. He was charged with aggravated battery to a peace officer, resisting, disarming a peace officer, and additional offenses related to the incident.
