On February 4, 2024, a Whitman County Sheriff's Deputy observed a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign. The deputy initiated a traffic stop and the female driver admitted to drinking one beer. She was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests, which included a preliminary breath test (PBT). The result of the PBT was 0.102% BAC. She was placed under arrest for DUI and was transported to the Pullman Police Station for processing. She also submitted to an evidential breath test and the result was 0.091% BAC. This case is still open and all suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
