On July 8, 2024, Las Cruces Police Officers responded to a call about a woman who appeared passed out on the sidewalk. They also received a call from a nearby gas station about a woman who had shoplifted a case of beer. Both calls were about the same 35-year-old woman. She was arrested for shoplifting, resisting arrest, and for an outstanding warrant. On September 5, 2024, all of the charges were dismissed by the prosecutor without prejudice.
