He pulled the vehicle over, and the driver stopped near Dingo Road. When Levier and Deputy Casey spoke with her, they saw signs that she might be impaired. The driver was later identified as Rachel. Rachel denied driving 82 MPH and tried several times to reach her lawyer. Deputy Levier asked her to leave the vehicle because he suspected she had been drinking. More deputies arrived to assist with the stop. Rachel eventually got out and agreed to perform field sobriety tests. Levier started with the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test. He recorded all six signs of impairment and noticed slight vertical movement in her eyes. During the Walk and Turn test, Rachel had trouble keeping her heels and toes together and struggled to maintain her balance. Deputies did not complete the remaining tests because she refused to cooperate. Rachel was arrested for driving under the influence after deputies saw her erratic driving, smelled alcohol on her breath, and watched her struggle with the sobriety tests. A search of her vehicle also turned up a firearm. Deputy Levier took Rachel to the Santa Rosa County Jail, while another person was contacted to care for her dog. At the jail, Rachel agreed to provide breath samples. The Intoxilyzer recorded results of 0.26% and 0.262%, both more than three times Florida's legal limit of 0.08%. Rachel was charged with driving under the influence and given a warning for speeding. She was booked into the jail and released the next day at 10:14 AM after posting a $500 bond.
