Body-worn camera footage from the Marion County Sheriff's Office shows a deputy tackling a 16-year-old boy inside a Family Dollar store in Ocala, Florida, after the teen was found hiding a rifle under his shirt. According to the Marion County Sheriff's Office, a deputy on patrol just before 5 p.m. on June 17, 2024, spotted a white Ford Focus with heavily tinted windows and a broken brake light traveling at high speed near Cedar Road and Bahia Road. The vehicle appeared to be trying to evade the deputy before turning into a Family Dollar shopping center on SE Maricamp Road in Silver Springs Shores. A 16-year-old passenger got out and ran inside the store. The teen attempted to hide among the store aisles. Body-cam video shows the deputy locating him and a struggle breaking out, during which a rifle hidden under the teen's shirt was revealed. "Drop the gun, drop it. Stop playing," the deputy can be heard saying before taking the teen to the ground and handcuffing him. Deputies also searched the vehicle and found a backpack containing drugs that appeared to be packaged for sale. The teen claimed the backpack but denied the gun belonged to him. He was booked into jail with no bond on multiple felony charges. ⚠️ The identity of the juvenile involved has not been released by authorities and is not implied or speculated on in this video.
