It really helps us do original reporting like this. 🔍 Episode Overview: On July 14, 2025, at about 10:38 p.m., Officer Mark Chanley from the Piscataway Township Police took a quick meal break at the Taco Bell on 4807 Stelton Road in South Plainfield. He spotted a white 2021 Jeep hit a curb, then smash a sign, as the driver tried to speed away. Chanley gave chase and signaled for a stop. The driver swung into the Staples parking lot at 7000 Hadley Road and parked beside a handicapped spot. The woman behind the wheel was Sandy Perez, an officer with the Middlesex County Sheriff's Office. She explained she was driving to a hotel after a fight with her partner. Later, she owned up to having a couple of drinks that night. Officer Nicholas Polizzano showed up soon after and handled the case from there. The officers suspected she was driving impaired. Her Jeep's front end looked badly damaged too. They asked Sandy to do some sobriety tests. She flat out refused. Moments later, they arrested her for DWI. South Plainfield police took her sheriff's vest. She mentioned her gun was locked in the back of the vehicle. A search of the Jeep turned up two open bottles of Jameson whiskey. They towed the vehicle for a required 12-hour hold under John's Law. Then, they took Sandy to the South Plainfield Police Department for booking.
