On May 30, 2025, in Los Angeles County, a California Highway Patrol officer attempted to stop a black BMW 750Li after observing it exit a State Route 14 off-ramp at Agua Dulce Canyon Road in the wrong direction, creating a dangerous traffic situation. The officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop and instructed the driver to pull over. The driver initially failed to yield and entered northbound State Route 14, continuing to drive while officers followed with emergency lights and siren activated. During the pursuit, the driver drove on the shoulder of the freeway, used the right shoulder to pass slower vehicles, and later exited the freeway onto Sierra Highway. At one point during the chase dashcam captured a male passenger exit the vehicle through the front passenger window and fled up a hillside. The driver continued driving and failed to stop for officers. Additional CHP units joined the pursuit as the vehicle continued southbound on Sierra Highway. After supervisory approval, officers performed a Pursuit Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver at approximately 30 miles per hour, successfully bringing the vehicle to a stop near Oak Street.
