It really helps us do original reporting like this. 🔍 Episode Overview: Just after 4:00 AM on March 3, 2024, Patrolman Brad Keyes from Roxbury Police saw a 2010 Lincoln MKX swerving into oncoming traffic on Route 46 West. He turned on his emergency lights and pulled the vehicle over on Parks Road. When he approached, he spoke with the driver, Cristina Jasso-Olvera. During their talk, he noticed the smell of alcohol and saw other signs she was impaired. Cristina couldn't show a valid license, and officers later found her license was already suspended. More officers arrived and asked Cristina to step out of the vehicle. She admitted she had been drinking at a bar earlier that evening and said she was on her way to a friend's house. Based on their suspicion of impairment, she was asked to do field sobriety tests. She refused, and officers arrested her for DUI. During a search of her car, they found an open bottle of Twisted Tea. Officer Tumer stayed at the scene until her vehicle was impounded for 12 hours under John’s Law. Cristina was taken to the Netcong State Police station for a breath test. There, she was read the Standard Statement for Motor Vehicle Operators and initially agreed to give breath samples. Trooper Rosenberger used the Alcotest device, but she refused to give enough samples after eight tries. She was ultimately charged with refusal. She was then brought back to the Roxbury Police Department. Later, officers drove her to her friend's house and released her to a friend after they signed a liability warning form on Cristina's behalf. Patrolman Keyes issued her several tickets: DUI, refusal to take a chemical test, consent to breath testing, reckless driving, not staying in marked lanes, not having a driver’s license, and driving with a suspended license.
