A Florida man’s fatal decision to resist arrest and charge at deputies was caught on bodycam—and the footage is SHOCKING. On October 23, 2023, Elroy Clarke, 42, was fatally shot by Charlotte County deputies after refusing arrest for a misdemeanor warrant and charging at an armed officer. The full bodycam footage shows deputies escalating from Tasers to pepper spray to bean bags—before opening fire when Clarke lunged at them. 🔍 What Happened? Clarke lied about his identity ("My name’s Ben Day"). Deputies used multiple less-lethal force (Taser, pepper spray, bean bags). Clarke charged at a deputy with a firearm drawn—forcing them to fire. ⚖️ Legal Breakdown: Under Florida Statute 776.013, officers are justified in using deadly force if they reasonably fear for their life. This case is a textbook example of how resisting arrest can turn deadly. 💬 What Do YOU Think? Would you have shot? Should deputies have tackled him instead?
