On January 12, 2025, in Oakland, California Highway Patrol officers initiated a high-speed pursuit after spotting a silver Chevrolet Volt driving recklessly through city streets. The driver ran multiple red lights, stop signs, and repeatedly drove the wrong way at high speeds recklessly against traffic while attempting to evade officers. The Police chase continued through several Oakland streets before the suspect vehicle entered a dead-end roadway near Jensen Street and came to a stop in a ditch. CHP K-9 Officers took the driver into custody without further incident and determined the vehicle had been reported stolen. Authorities also identified the suspect as a wanted parolee with an active warrant. He was arrested without further incident and transported to Highland Hospital for medical clearance before being booked into the Alameda County Jail on the following charges: 148.9(A) - Giving False Information To A Peace Officer 148(A)(1) - Resist / Obstruct / Delay Peace Officer 3056 - Violation Parole: Felony 484(A) - Petty Theft 496(A) - Receiving Or Concealing Stolen Property 496D(A) - Receiving Stolen Property - Motor Vehicle 10851(A) - Take Vehicle W/O Owner's Consent 2800.4 - Evasion Of Peace Officer - Wrong Side Of Median 2800.2(A - Evasion - Wanton Disregard for Safety California Highway Patrol Officers involved: Officer A.
