A man gets pulled over for a simple traffic violation. While the deputy was running a driver's license check, he discovers the man has a suspended driver's license. The deputy asks the man to step out of the car. However, the man says, "Hold on, let me turn the car off," and then, without warning, floors it, initiating a vehicle pursuit. As the driver becomes more reckless, deputies successfully use stop sticks on the tires and then finally a PIT maneuver that sends the driver spinning out across the roadway into oncoming traffic. It appears that the deputy set up and attempted to PIT the vehicle to the right side of the road but slipped off the suspect car in the process of the PIT, sending the suspect off to the left side unintentionally. The suspect then crashed into a third party (who received minor injuries) and was apprehended by another deputy. The suspect continued to resist refusing to be placed completely in the patrol car, but was eventually locked inside. A few minutes later, the suspect managed to slip his handcuffs to the front, kicked out the middle sliding part of the partition, and squeezed through it. He then drove off in the marked patrol car, crashing again as he left, initiating a second pursuit. Deputies were able to catch up and then performed a PIT on their own patrol car, disabling it. The man then took off running on foot into the woods with Coweta deputies in hot pursuit, with one successfully tasing the suspect and placing him in handcuffs and, this time, leg shackles. The suspect was uninjured and transported to the Coweta county jail on several felony charges.
