Police bodycam footage shows an unlicensed contractor arrest in Reno, Nevada, where the State Contractors Board had three warrants for a man inside his own workshop and no authority to serve them. This real body cam video captures the knock at the door, the investigator reading out the customers' names and the amounts they paid, the suspect's denials, and the obtaining-money-by-false-pretenses felony behind the case. On November 22, 2024, a Nevada Capitol Police sergeant was asked to serve warrants the Contractors Board could not serve itself. Surveillance had placed James John Drumstas, 59, inside a workshop on Dickerson Road. He answered the door and was in handcuffs within a minute. Then the investigator went through the file out loud: a citation for work at 1530 South Marsh Avenue, a customer named Daniel Carrasco who paid $10,500 for work at 1465 California Avenue, and a second couple. Drumstas said he gave the money back. The investigator said they had subpoenaed the bank records and no refund was ever made. Charges: obtaining money by false pretenses, $25,000 or more but less than $100,000, a category B felony, and engaging in contractor business or submitting a bid without a valid license. Two older warrants were still active, one out of Sparks from 2019, and a 2018 bench warrant for failing to appear in court, issued six years before this arrest. Bail on the 2024 warrant was set at $5,000. The jail would not book him until a hospital cleared him. All counts are allegations, and Drumstas denies them on camera.
