On November 23, 2023, Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper Lawson observed a vehicle make a marked lanes violation. He initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, which was being driven by a 19-year-old woman. The police report indicates that Trooper Lawson could smell alcohol coming from the vehicle, but the woman denied consuming any. She was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests, which included a portable breath test (PBT). The result of the PBT was 0.107% BAC. She was arrested for DUI and she and her male passenger were transported to the Miami County Sheriff's Office. She agreed to submit to an evidentiary breath test and the result was 0.108% BAC. While waiting in the back of the police car for a sober adult to come and pick them up, she and the male passenger were taking selfies of themselves and photographs of her citation.
