🚨 Franklin County Pursuit — Stolen F‑350, 90+ MPH, Head‑On Crash Into Patrol Car (Oct 3, 2024) Deputies in Franklin County located a dark‑colored Ford F‑350 carrying a couch in the bed — the same truck stolen the night before during a multi‑agency pursuit involving MSHP and Pacific PD. Deputy Boone spotted the vehicle again on Hwy AT, driving erratically and at high speed. Knowing the driver had fled from law enforcement the previous night, Boone followed without lights to avoid triggering another immediate flight. As speeds climbed to 90 mph and the driving became more erratic, Boone activated lights and sirens, initiating a pursuit. Deputies staged ahead, and Sgt. Perkins successfully deployed spike strips, deflating the front driver‑side tire. Despite the flat tire, Shaw continued fleeing through Union city limits, crossing into oncoming lanes, nearly striking multiple responding units, and driving at dangerous speeds on Progress Parkway. Deputies attempted multiple PIT maneuvers to stop him, but Shaw evaded and continued northbound. A final PIT maneuver succeeded, causing Shaw’s truck to spin sideways and crash head‑on into Deputy Davis’ patrol vehicle, disabling the stolen F‑350. Deputies rushed in as the truck began smoking and caught fire. Shaw attempted to escape through the passenger door, but deputies broke the windows, extracted him, and moved him away from the burning vehicle. Shaw was taken into custody and transported to Mercy Washington Hospital. Fire and EMS reported a strong odor of alcohol, leading to a DWI investigation. Shaw was found to have a revoked license, an active felony probation/parole warrant, and a lengthy history of fleeing law enforcement.
