On January 14, 2023, at approximately 7:10 PM, New Jersey State Trooper Andrew Cannata observed a white Toyota swerving within its lane of travel on the New Jersey Garden State Parkway express lane near mile marker 113. Concerned by the erratic driving, Trooper Cannata initiated a traffic stop to investigate the driver's conduct. As Trooper Cannata made contact with the 19-year-old driver, he detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from her breath. Despite this, the driver denied consuming any alcohol. Undeterred, Trooper Cannata continued his investigation, ultimately placing the driver under arrest for driving while intoxicated (DUI). She was charged with several offenses, including DUI, underage DUI, reckless driving, refusal to submit to breath tests, and unsafe lane change. Two female passengers, aged 21 and 16, were also in the vehicle. The 16-year-old passenger may be familiar to some, as she was also involved in the driver’s third DUI arrest, which we previously documented in a video. Both passengers were transported to the Troop headquarters to await pickup by a responsible party. This incident marked the 19-year-old driver's second DUI arrest, with her first occurring just a month prior, in December 2022, and her third a few months later, in March 2023. On August 21, 2023, she appeared in court and was found guilty of the underage DUI charge. All other charges were dismissed.
