Off-duty Toledo Police officer Michael Ellerbrock, a 12-year veteran, crashed his truck into a ditch near Lakeside Road in Monroe County, Michigan on March 23, 2026, with his young son in the vehicle. Responding deputies noted slurred speech, bloodshot eyes, and the smell of intoxicants. Ellerbrock first refused field sobriety tests, then submitted to a breath test that returned results of .196 and .20 -- more than twice the legal limit. What follows is a long, uncomfortable attempt to talk his way out of it. He cries, he pleads, and he reminds the deputy that he is a fellow officer who has extended the same favor to others. She does not return it. He was charged with operating under the influence with an occupant under 16. The charge was later pleaded down to operating a vehicle while visibly impaired, with sentencing set for June 12, 2026. All footage obtained through public records requests. No narration.
