In 2016, Anthony Gallo — the volunteer treasurer of the Freehold Soccer League in Freehold Township, New Jersey — was charged with second-degree theft after the league president contacted the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Financial Crimes Unit, having learned that bills owed to the team's uniform supplier had gone unpaid and that money was missing from the league's bank accounts. Over four years, from 2012 to 2016, Gallo drained more than $400,000 from the organization that every local family trusted with their children's registration fees, writing over $300,000 in checks to himself, to cash, and to his own company, and pulling more than $120,000 in ATM withdrawals to cover personal expenses. ––– Disclaimer: This video is a dramatization based on real events.
