Akron Police were dispatched to the area of Exchange St/Sumner St to look for a person who had multiple active felony warrants out for his arrest. Officers first located the suspect at 180 E Exchange St- Exchange St Residence Hall. While attempting to make contact with the suspect, he led officers on a foot pursuit, southbound through the courtyard of 180 E. Exchange. The suspect continued to disobey the officer's orders to stop and continued to run east crossing Grant St. to South Hall. He then made a sharp turn going northbound under the South Hall underpass toward E. Exchange St. The suspect continued to run northbound while officers gave commands to stop multiple times. While attempting to run across E. Exchange St., The suspect ran into the rear of the parked Cruiser 25 and was tackled onto the ground by Officers. The suspect was placed into handcuffs, searched, and placed in the cruiser with no further incident. The suspect had six active warrants out for his arrest, 5 being out of Akron. The suspect was also charged with Obstructing Official Business - F5, due to one of the Officers being injured during the foot pursuit and transported to Akron General Hospital to be medically evaluated.
