A man was trapped underneath his own car. He wasn't breathing. And police desperately needed a jack to save him. On February 17, 2026, police officers in Webster, Massachusetts, responded to an emergency outside an Advance Auto Parts store. A man had been attempting to repair his vehicle when the car jack suddenly failed, causing the vehicle to collapse onto his chest. When responding officers arrived, they discovered the man pinned beneath the vehicle, unresponsive and apparently not breathing. With every second counting, officers urgently searched for another car jack. Officer Nicholas Caruso managed to retrieve a jack from inside the auto parts store. Working alongside other first responders, officers lifted the vehicle and pulled the trapped man to safety. Moments after being freed, the man began breathing again. The entire rescue took less than three minutes. The victim was transported to the hospital with injuries later reported to be non-life-threatening.
