On October 6, 2022, at approximately 4:04 a.m., a deputy approached a parked white Dodge sedan outside a convenience store and observed a large bottle of alcohol in plain view on the center console. The bottle appeared partially consumed. Upon making contact with the driver, the deputy also detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. When asked to exit the vehicle so a probable cause search could be conducted, the driver initially refused and stated she would not comply. After multiple lawful commands, she eventually exited but refused to walk to the rear of the vehicle as instructed. Instead, she attempted to re-enter the car by grabbing the driver’s side door handle. Due to her continued refusal to follow commands and interference with the investigation, deputies attempted to detain her. She pulled away several times, making it difficult to place her in handcuffs. She was ultimately placed under arrest for Resisting an Officer Without Violence. A search of the vehicle revealed marijuana residue inside. She was also issued a traffic citation for possessing an open container of alcohol while in control of a vehicle. EMS responded after she complained of arm pain, but she refused medical treatment. She was transported for booking, and a warrant affidavit was later prepared for judicial review.
